This cosy first-floor apartment in the heart of the Scottish West Highlands is nestled amongst the stunning scenery of the majestic mountains, roaring rivers and lovely lochs, making it the ideal location for a romantic getaway. Situated within a mile of the small villages of Duror and Kentallen, a village shop is not far away despite the property’s peaceful location. Whatever activities you fancy, there is always a vast array on offer whatever the season, from golf and cycling in the summer to skiing and hiking in the winter. Adventurers will be pleased that Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak, is only 27 miles away and for Munro-baggers, Ben Sgulaird is only 17 miles away. This property is also close to the popular and picturesque towns of Glencoe (10 miles), Fort William (19.5 miles) and Oban (25 miles) with their jaw-dropping, mountainous backdrops.

One of three properties in this 19th century house, this apartment is accessed via the external staircase. From here, you enter the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Its vaulted ceilings, light walls and warm wood tones make the compact area feel bright and spacious, but please be aware that taller people may find the sloped ceilings too low in places. The kitchen is well-equipped and the king-size bedroom (can be made up as two twins on request) is snug, whilst the modern, white bathroom completes the accommodation.

Outside, at the top of the staircase, there is a small veranda with dining furniture where you can sit and soak up the tranquillity and views of the surrounding countryside. You are also welcome to wander around and enjoy the beautiful grounds that are shared with guests in the other properties. If you wish, this property can be linked to one of the others via a connecting door.

  • 1 of 3 self-contained properties

  • Lounge with double sofa bed
  • Bathroom with shower over bath and WC
  • Garden shared with other properties if occupied
  • Outside stair landing: small decking at front door with views across the garden with outdoor table and chairs
  • TV, DVD & Hi-Fi, electric heating and Wi-Fi included but this can be intermittent due to location
  • If you are bringing your dog to any property within the collection, we ask that you ensure you are respectful of the rules set out for dog owners in your booking terms.
  • Cattle grate upon entry to estate

  • Properties 28672 and 28686 are linked via a connecting door

The villages of Duror and Kentallen are located just off the Argyll Coastal Route from Balluchulish in the north and Oban in the south. This property is located close to the shores of the breathtaking Loch Linnhe, where you can take part in a number of activities, such as kayaking, fishing and sailing. It is also popular with photographers because of its varied wildlife, such as seals, porpoises and golden eagles, and magnificent scenery and sunsets.

Keen cyclists will enjoy the Kentallen to Ballachulish cycle path which is part of the National Cycle Network. Or for those looking for something more leisurely, the pebble beach of Cuil Bay is only a short stroll away (1.2 miles) and the views of the mountains are spectacular. If you fancy seeing more of the sea loch, you could even take a cruise and enjoy the commentary. For a touch of history and beauty, either view or visit Castle Stalker (6.5 miles), a 15th Century keep standing proud on its tidal islet in Loch Linnhe (visits are limited and should be pre-booked).

If you fall in love with gorgeous Glencoe, head to the Highlands Titles Nature Reserve (1.5 miles) and bag yourself a small piece of land as a souvenir allowing you to become a Laird, Lord or Lady of Glencoe as well as helping to preserve this special place which is home to lots of wildlife from deer to pine martens.

Nice location, although the cottage is near the road and noisy if the windows are opened

Cosy, warm, neat, tidy but beware low sloping ceilings (!) in parts. Ideal for a couple on a budget but excellently placed to see all attractions of the region

A very well appointed apartment, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Loved seeing all the wildlife especially red dear stags almost every day viewed from the living room window. Nice walks to the nearby nature reserve. Very enjoyable stay.

We have a lovely stay, which was peaceful despite the proximity to the road. We agree with the previous comments regarding available height at the property. We would suggest taking some supplies along with you as the nearest shops are some distance away.

A quaint apartment in quite an isolated setting. Quite well equipped but a little tired. Good location for exploring the Highlands but no pub/restaurant within 10miles minimum. A very comfortable bed. We enjoyed our stay but will not be returning as we found the location too far away from any amenities.

I would recommend this cottage! It is in the most beautiful location with easy access to the main road. The cottage was clean and spacious and just the perfect place for a quiet week away. We will definitely return!
