The quaint and picturesque village of Gardenstown is one of three fishing villages (alongside Crovie and Pennan) on the Aberdeenshire coast between Fraserburgh and Macduff. Gardenstown is a cliff-side village with a good pub, bustling harbour and an 11th century chapel. The property is ideally situated on the main street, with the harbour within a quarter of a mile. You can take a stroll along the waterfront and admire the stunning sunsets and breathtaking views, and maybe catch a glimpse of seals or dolphins swimming in the bay. You can get closer to the wildlife in the area – and in the sea – by taking a boat trip from the pretty coastal town of Macduff (8 miles). Macduff is renowned for its fishing industry, with seafood arriving daily at the harbour. The town is also home to a choice of pubs and restaurants – many specialising in seafood – and there are popular attractions including the Royal Tarlair Golf Club, Macduff Marine Aquarium, Macduff Maritime Garden, Tarlair Outdoor Swimming Pool and The Platform – a popular shopping centre. Crossing the Deveron Bridge, you will reach Macduff's neighbour Banff (9.5 miles), a historic town which is home to Banff Castle, Banff Museum and the splendid Duff House. Nature lovers can visit the RSPB Scotland Troup Head Nature Reserve (3 miles). Other local landmarks include Delgatie Castle (13 miles) and St Drostan's Well (8 miles). There are plenty of activities to try including golf, fishing, riding, sailing, canoeing, surfing, walking and cycling.

A lovely place, great value for money! Would definitely recommend it. Right by the sea and not far from Banff its self. Lots to go and see along the coast and even in land to turriff or Fyvie. Very quiet at night and very cosy.

Can't fault this accommodation which is located in a beautiful part of the Moray Coast. Everything was spot on for us and the "welcome pack" was a lovely gesture. Gardenstown is a real treasure and warrants a return visit and given the opportunity we would come back at the drop of a hat. Our host was full of useful information (the chip van on ThurRead moresday's for example) and gave us a lot of recommendations for visits during our stay. Thank you Chaz and Janette (Culross) Hide

We found Balai House to be comfortable, impeccably clean and very well located near the harbour, shop, pub and bus stop. The kitchen is practical and well equipped, and the owner was very helpful. Gardenstown proved to be a really good base for exploring the Moray coast although we also ventured inland to Dufftown and Old Deer.
