This pretty, rural-style cottage was originally a barn and has now been converted to offer comfortable, contemporary accommodation, within scenic central Scotland.

Sitting in 20 acres of shared grounds offering woodland walks and rural rambles from the doorstep, this charming two-bedroom cottage is in the perfect location for families or friends seeking a comfortable base from which to explore the Perthshire countryside.

Spend your days exploring ancient castles at Stirling and Falkirk, bagging munros in The Trossachs National Park and skimming across Loch Lomond on a speedboat before returning to your peaceful holiday home for an alfresco supper in the courtyard garden. Converted from an old barn back in 2008, your pretty single-storey cottage has a contemporary-style with tasteful decor and oak flooring throughout. The open-plan interior is perfect for socialising together and the two bedrooms are restful spaces with inviting beds and bright soft-furnishings.

Stepping through the front door into the bright hallway, there is plenty of space to leave walking boots and wellies and hang your coats on the pegs provided, before heading through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Prepare yourself a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen to enjoy at the extending oak dining table positioned in the corner. Curl up on the sofa in front of the TV or get competitive with a family board game. From the hallway you will find the two bedrooms, the first a cosy twin room overlooking woodlands, next a family bathroom with shower over bath and at the end of the hall, is the master bedroom with super king-size bed and an en-suite shower. Outside, there is a picnic bench and BBQ for alfresco dining in your courtyard garden. Private parking is available.

Your cottage is situated on the Cauldhame Estate where you have 20 acres of shared grounds to explore. Find your perfect picnic spot overlooking the wildlife ponds, or spot red squirrels and roe deer on a stroll through the grounds.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

  • Please note the main road leading up to the property is mostly single track and can be prone to ice and snow in the Winter months. 4x4 vehicles may be required for the sloping driveway up to the house. The road also leads over a bridge with a 7.5 tonne weight limit.

The area surrounding the cottage is a haven for nature lovers with extensive gardens and grounds attracting all manner of wildlife, and the surrounding countryside and mountains creates a safe habitat for guests. Dunblane (4.5 miles) is a small but bustling town spanning Allan Water. Ramble along the riverside, browse some of the country's rarest books in Leighton Library, the oldest private library in Scotland and discover the medieval architecture of Dunblane Cathedral. Make sure you send a postcard from Andy Murray's gold post-box in the centre of town, where you will find a range of shops, bars and restaurants.

Discover life in the 16tth century at Stirling Castle (6.5 miles). Admire the £2 million ‘Hunt of the Unicorn' hand-woven tapestries on display in The Royal Palace, explore the elegant Chapel Royal and see the art and treasures on display in the Stirling Heads Gallery. Golfers are spoilt for choice with plenty of courses to choose from. Enjoy panoramic views across the Forth Valley and Campsie Fells as you play a round at Dunblane New Golf Club (4 miles). The nine-hole course at Bridge of Allan Golf Club (4.5 miles) offers some challenging holes for the amateur golfer and don't miss the opportunity to play the world-famous course at nearby Gleneagles (14.5 miles).

Ideally placed for a quiet, away from it all holiday. Nearest town just 3 miles away.

Barn Cottage is a charming property in beautiful countryside but close enough to the town of Dunblane to satisfy all tastes. The quiet rural location is perfect for a relaxed week away in stunning countryside. I would definitely book this cottage again!
