This wonderfully bright and spacious detached cottage is perfect for a family getaway. With a roaring wood burner and nestled in a peaceful location, it's the perfect getaway on the magical Isle of Skye.

Tucked away on the south-eastern coast of the Isle of Skye, the largest of the Inner Hebridean islands, this delightful cottage is ideal for families and friends who love the great outdoors. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, the property is situated in the peaceful crofting village of Camus Croise (Camuscross). Immerse yourselves in the tranquillity and natural beauty of the area with lots of walks from your doorstep. The beach is within a few hundred metres, as is a small pier, an art gallery, a whisky shop and the welcoming local pub that serves good meals and drams of the local tipple.

Recently refurbished, this light and airy single-storey property has been decorated in neutral tones and with contemporary fixtures and fittings, while the occasional pop of tartan and quirky artwork adds charm and character. On entering, leave muddy shoes and wet coats in the porch (also home to the washing machine) before stepping into the bright kitchen/diner. Here, you’ll find everything you’ll need to cook up a big breakfast, prepare a picnic or spend time making a delicious evening meal. When it’s time to relax, head into the lounge where you can light the wood burner before snuggling up on the sofa. Continuing down the hall, you’ll find two beautifully-presented, spacious bedrooms, which share a modern family bathroom with separate shower and bath.

In warmer months, you can make the most of the outside area which has plenty of space to stretch your legs as well as a BBQ and furniture for al fresco dining with a view. There is plenty of parking on the driveway.

Nestled on the western shores of the Sound of Sleat, the panoramic views across to the mainland are spectacular. There are plenty of walking routes either from your doorstep or further afield. Heading to the island’s most southerly point, you can take a walk to the Point of Sleat which encompasses a white, sandy beach –perfect for picnics and swimming, a lighthouse and some breathtaking views. On your way back, you could call into the town of Armadale (8 miles) with its bustling pier, ferry to Mallaig and beautiful castle, gardens and museum.

Venturing west, you can take the 41-mile drive (approx. 1 hour) to the spectacular Cuillin Ridge, which boasts an interesting walk/scramble and Munro-baggers will be pleased to know it is home to 12 Munros. Close to here, you can also visit the magical and breathtaking crystal clear pools and waterfalls at Fairy Pools which are popular with visitors. Heading north, the charming village of Broadford (10 miles) has craft shops, galleries and shops on offer, as well as watersports and fossil huting. Continuing north, you should also take a visit to popular Old Man of Storr (42 miles). Wherever you go, make sure you look out for the area’s abundance of wildlife, including eagles, otters, whales and dolphins.
