Set in the heart of the glorious Strathglass region and with the delightful Plodda Falls nearby (3 miles), the pretty village of Tomich makes a lovely base for exploring the magical Scottish Highlands. Tomich has a charming hotel with an excellent restaurant, as well as a statue commemorating the first golden retriever, which was bred in the village in the 19th century. There are plenty of opportunities for walking, biking and hiking, with some wonderful country trails and forest tracks throughout the area. Heading east you will come to the ruins of the ancient Urquhart Castle (17.5 miles) which rests on the shores of Loch Ness. The Loch Ness Visitor Centre (15.5 miles) tells the story of this fabled loch and its famous resident. To the west is the stunning nature reserve of Glen Affric. One of the most beautiful glens in Scotland, Glen Affric has over 30 miles of ancient pinewoods and an array of wildlife including pine martens, red squirrels, golden eagles, otters and red deer. Heading a little further west, Loch Mullardoch (13 miles) is one of the more challenging local destinations, with several of Scotland’s highest Munros in the vicinity. To the south are Loch Cluanie, Loch Loyne and Loch Garry (all within 30 miles), offering seemingly endless walks and cycle tracks with stunning views, and some excellent pubs along the way.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, with very nice walks from the house and close to the magnificent scenery of Glen Affric and Glen Cannich. Nice to be able to walk out to the cafe and hotel too. The cottage is very comfortable, with quality furnishings throughout, and very well equipped. We appreciated the bench outside, which was a lovely Read morespot to sit out in the afternoon and evening. The alternative cooking facilities provided to the Aga were perfectly suitable for our needs. Hide

The cottage was comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped. We enjoyed using the aga and having a fire on chilly evenings. Tomich is a lovely village and the surrounding area is stunning, I am sure we will be back.

Nicely appointed property very comfortable and in a lovely spot but the cooking facilities during the summer months is are not good as the Aga was turned off. If you like to cook or need to because of finances you may find the alternative arrangements a challenge.

Beautifully decorated cottage in a stunning conservation village wirh lovely Glen Affric and Glen Strathfarrar close by. The cottage is really well equipped though no washing machine and the Aga is switched off in summer meaning cooking facilities are restricted to a 2 ring hob and small oven. Otherwise absolutely great.

The property is of a very high standard and we enjoyed staying there last year and returned again this year. It is located in the conservation village of Tomich and is close to the access road into Glen Affric if you are a Munro bagger.
