Luxurious steading located in an idyllic position on a 70-acre working sheep farm. With masses of space and an open-plan layout, it’s ideal for groups or big family getaways.

Whether simply enjoying the breathtaking views of the Moffat Water Valley; spotting the fantastic array of wildlife, from the hares that hop through the courtyard to the foxes, badgers, deer and squirrels that inhabit the surrounding woodlands; or tackling the walking and hiking routes from your doorstep, find peace and tranquillity in abundance at this stylishly converted steading. Sleeping eight guests in four bedrooms, after a busy day out, return to relax amongst elegant and contemporary interiors before unwinding in the sauna.

The epitome of open-plan design, here there is plenty of space for everyone to comfortably gather together and cosy corners in which to find a little seclusion when it is needed. Beautifully designed with a blend of patterns and textures throughout, the interiors have a tactile quality that creates a characterful atmosphere, softened gently with warm wooden floors and white walls. Large windows and various skylights dotted throughout allow light to flood in creating a sense of space and air.

Discarding outdoor clothes in the hall, make your way to the open-plan living space – the heart of the house. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to marvel at the beautiful surroundings and the water wheel from the comfort of the sofa. Light and bright during the day, the room takes on a cosy demeanour once the wood burner is lit, ideal for movie nights in. When teens and adults want their own space, the studio is the perfect place to unwind with a book for some peace and quiet. Prepare a delicious meal in the bespoke kitchen before gathering around the dining table, starting and ending your days together with sociable mealtimes. Kids will love the extra TV and comfy chairs in the kitchen, the perfect break out space for their own movie nights. The utility room is a welcome addition for large parties with space for storing and drying outdoor gear as well as being perfect for a cosy dog bed or two.

Retaining the same striking and elegant character, the bedrooms are spacious, light and beautifully decorated, with wooden floors complementing feature walls and crisp lines. Suitable for a variety of party make-ups, the two super-king-size zip-and-link bedrooms can be made into twin bedrooms on request, while the king-size bedroom has a seating area with a TV, perfect for lazy mornings with a coffee. With each bedroom boasting an en-suite, careful consideration has been given to the privacy and comfort of mixed-age, family groups. End your day in the sauna, the perfect place to rest your walk-weary limbs with a little TLC.

Wake refreshed to take a morning stroll in the garden and surrounding woodland, sipping a coffee as you listen to the birdsong and the tumbling waterfalls that lead to Moffat Water. Keep an eye out for wildlife amongst the undergrowth, and watch your kids and pups play on the lawn to their hearts content. Dine alfresco morning, noon and night and enjoy a chilled glass of wine as the BBQ sizzles and the sun sets, indulging in a lazy evening stargazing in this recognised International Dark Sky location. With secure bike storage available, make sure you bring your bikes; there is also ample off-road parking available.

We had a wonderful week at the Steading. Fiona and Angus were very welcoming and always at hand to help when we needed it (supplied a jack when we needed to change a tyre). Lovely rooms with en-suites so perfect for four couples plus dog. Handy dog/ utility room with puppy gate and little extras like bone biscuits, bowls etc. Handy hose at the fronRead moret of the house to wash boots and mucky paws. The owners have thought of everything - comfy beds/linen and welcome hamper. We would definitely rebook! Hide
