Enjoy the spectacular beauty of Loch Duich on foot from your cottage. Drive or walk approximately 12 miles around the loch to famous Eilean Donan Castle. With a history reaching back to the 6th century, this iconic Highland castle was built in its current form in the 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Discover its past for yourself at its visitors' centre. Take a cruise out on the water from close by and look out for seals as you go.

Also uncover the history of Glen Shiel while you are in this part of the world. Encircled by steep mountains, this was the scene of a Jacobite rebellion in 1719. Today you can climb its beautiful Munros and walk beside Loch Cluanie, approximately 20 miles from your holiday home.

Hike to the magnificent Falls of Glomach: these are often described as the most impressive waterfalls in Britain as they have a single leap of 113 metres. The falls are about 24 miles from your base and you can drive some of the way, with various walks and cycle rides of different lengths to get you the rest of the way, depending on where you start from. Drive about 20 miles from Letterfearn to the famous Kyle of Lochalsh and from there make a trip over to the Isle of Skye.

The cottage is situated in a lovely secluded spot with stunning views from the loch shore of Eilean Donan castle and the Five Sisters of Kintail. The lounge and bedrooms are in the original part of the building which has the charming feel of a traditional highland cottage and the bathroom, kitchen and utility room are in a more modern part. We founRead mored it very comfortable, but a double bed in one of the bedrooms would make it even better. There is some amazing scenery in the area and we particularly enjoyed going over the Pass of the Cattle road to Applecross and then north to Shieldaig and Torridon. Taking the ferry from Kylerhea to Glenelg is also fun and the Glenelg Brochs are well worth a visit. All in all we had a very relaxing week and still can't believe that we were lucky enough to see badgers in the garden after dark. Hide

This is a magical house in a stunning location. It has a lovely feeling of seclusion with only one house in view from any window. It is charmingly old-fashioned in places but has all mod cons including Sky, washing machine, dryer etc. It feels very spacious downstairs. Lovely big, bright dining-room. Lovely atmosphere. A path that leads from the gaRead morerden to the loch and the view of the castle. Brilliant location for walking including from the house. We walked most days. Highlights included the Kintail mountains, the ferry from Glenelg to Skye, the teashop at Corran, the memorials to Gavin Maxwell and his otter, to name but a few. Letterfearn is extraordinary. Hide
