Experience Scottish country life in this charming property, set on an historic clan estate in Easter Ross surrounded by picture-postcard Highland scenery

Set on a beautiful estate in glorious countryside, this delightful rambling property makes a wonderful holiday retreat for a large family or group of friends looking for an idyllic spot just a few miles to the north of Inverness. Brahan Estate is the historic home of the chiefs of the Clan MacKenzie, and offers 4,000 acres of stunning woodland and lochs, with the River Conon winding through the landscape. The estate is home to roe deer, ospreys, badgers and pine martens and has a red kite feeding station. An exciting range of outdoor pursuits can be arranged including clay pigeon and target shooting, canoeing, abseiling, archery and photographic safaris. For larger groups, there are three other properties nearby, providing accommodation for up to 18 further guests.

This light, cosy and welcoming cottage has been delightfully furnished and decorated in soothing tones to help make it a warm and peaceful getaway. You can admire the garden view from the lovely bay window in the lounge, or relax in front of the wood burner with a book or movie in the cosy snug. The bright and open dining room offers stunning rural views and also features a piano. The bedrooms all benefit from lovely soft bedding and pretty curtain fabric.

On entering this cheerful and inviting property you will find the spacious lounge where you can relax, admire the views, catch up with your favourite TV show and chat about the day’s events. The separate snug features an additional TV and a selection of books to peruse. You can gather together in the light and welcoming dining room to enjoy both formal and informal meals, which you can prepare in the fully-equipped and stylishly designed kitchen. The ground floor also offers a cosy twin bedroom, as well as a bathroom, separate WC, boot room and utility room.

Going upstairs to the first floor, there are four more bedrooms: two doubles and two twins. There are en-suite facilities for one of the doubles and one of the twins, as well as an additional family bathroom.

The second floor comprises an attic bedroom with twin beds and makes an ideal space for teenagers. There’s also an adjacent shower room.

Stepping outside you can enjoy a drink or al fresco meal in the large enclosed garden. Exploring the grounds further you can make your way through overgrown gardens and along delightful woodland footpaths, lochs and ponds abundant with birdlife. There are opportunities for cycling and angling, and there’s a nine-hole reversible golf course on the estate.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

From the isolated and peaceful Shetland Islands in the north to the thriving border towns and cities in the south, across wild mountains and serene lochs, and encompassing over 700 islands, Scotland’s rich and dramatic landscape simply must be seen to be appreciated. Scotland is home to the ten highest mountains in the UK – including Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak – and is bordered by three seas, offering epic scenery unlike any other you may have seen.

Whether you choose to explore the Highlands, lowlands or islands, lovers of the great outdoors will be thrilled by the stunning Scottish landscapes where some of the rarest UK wildlife can be glimpsed, including golden eagles, dolphins and whales. Take a road trip on the North Coast 500, Scotland’s version of Route 66, to experience the sheer beauty of the land’s wilderness or, as Scotland is the home of golf, either tee off at one of the 550 courses across parkland, heathland and links courses.

Scotland is also a land of unique culture where the people are renowned for their incredible warmth and hospitality. Experience the peaceful Isle of Lewis where Scots Gaelic is widely spoken, or immerse yourself in the cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen which are vibrant with thriving arts scenes, delicious restaurants and bustling nightlife. And no trip to Scotland is complete without exploring the castles and distilleries: learn about clan rivalries or bloody battles amongst 13th-century battlements or try a taste of Scotland itself during a tour of one of the 120 whisky distilleries. Pure Scottish culture in a glass.

With so many beautiful places to visit and things to experience, a break to Scotland should not be missed. Our fantastic Scottish holiday cottages will ensure a truly memorable getaway. Whether it’s a dog-friendly countryside cottage for two, or a vast and resplendent castle for the entire clan on a tranquil island, we have a holiday in Scotland to suit everyone.
