This area of Perth and Kinross is the perfect place to be based to explore some of the most beautiful cities and coastline on Scotland's east coast. Loch Leven (5.5 miles) is a stunning freshwater loch that you can walk or cycle around on the Loch Leven Heritage Trail, a haven for wildlife.

The Loch Leven Nature Reserve is world-famous as being one of the most significant sites in Europe for its variety in species of birds. You can take a boat trip across the loch to explore the history and grounds of Loch Leven Castle where Mary Queen of Scots spent one year as a prisoner. Or try your hand at a variety of water sports on the Loch such as kayaking, sailing, fishing and paddleboarding.

The beautiful city of Perth (19.5 miles) is within a 30-minute drive and is worth taking a day trip to if it's Scottish culture and heritage you are looking for. This picture-postcard city sits on the banks of the River Tay and is referred to as Scotland's most cosmopolitan city with its fresh ideas in arts, design and architecture, and is also one of Scotland's most accessible cities.
