This country cottage in Castle Douglas, with views over the Fleet Valley Conservation Area, is the most idyllic retreat for groups of up to ten people, your biggest dilemma each day will be whether to spend an extra luxurious hour in bed or to head straight out for another walk in the glorious surrounds. For the foodies in your clan, the kitchen will be a real treat for the eye and tum, well-equipped with everything you could need for any culinary creations.

Found at the opposite end of the house on the ground floor, you will discover a king-size bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with a shower. Upstairs, you can take your pick of another king-size bedroom with lovely views over the garden, a double and a twin bedroom. To complete the picture, there is also a bathroom with a shower on first floor, making sure no one has to wait in line for their morning rinse or evening soak.

A real draw, this self-catering cottage has the added advantage of wonderful outside space for guests of all generations to enjoy. When the sun is shining, pour outside and take a seat on the patio and get the BBQ sizzling. While the children zip across the lawn ready to launch into an enthusiastic game of tag, sit back and enjoy the views over the Fleet Valley conservation area and feel yourself slip into holiday mode. The house is situated in a quiet, rural location with a river nearby. The garden is perfect for families and our children enjoyed exploring in it!
