A charming cottage suitable for families and friends seeking a rural retreat from which to explore the Highland countryside, spectacular lochs and historic sites of the area.
Set in the heart of the Kinloss Estate, this charming stone-built two-bedroom cottage is the perfect getaway for families seeking a restful base within easy reach of the outdoor activities and attractions of Fife. Spend your day strolling the estate grounds, home to the annual Fife Show, watch the ducks swimming in the pond, or practise your serve on the nearby tennis court. The medieval market town of Cupar is less than 5 miles away where you can stock up on provisions or enjoy a meal in one of the welcoming restaurants.
Reached via a private road, your traditional cottage, originally the head gardener’s cottage, sits in beautiful gardens and adjacent to woodlands and a babbling stream, creating a sense of peace and oneness with the natural environment. Windows look out onto the garden and grounds, adding to the tranquillity of your holiday home and allowing you to relax and forget the stresses and strains of the modern world.
Step through the front door and into the entrance hall where you can remove walking boots and wellies. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen and share leisurely family meals around the elegant dining room table. After a day of exploration, snuggle up in the sitting room, where plump sofas invite you to sink into them and relax. Light the open fire and enjoy some friendly competition with a game of cards or a board game.
When it’s time for bed, head upstairs to the two comfortable bedrooms. With handmade beds crafted from the estate’s own wood, the double and twin rooms are restful spaces decorated in soothing tones. The family bathroom is also on this level.
Outside, spread your blanket out on the front lawn for a picnic lunch watching the ducks swimming in their pond, where hopefully Harry the Heron will stop for a quick dip. Enjoy an early evening meal alfresco at the garden table enjoying the tranquillity of your surroundings. Just 100 yards from the cottage is the tennis court which you are welcome to use by arrangement.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
