Take time to unwind and switch off from day to day life in this outstanding location in the Cairngorms National park, with your own private hot tub and sauna for a memorable stay.

Set against a backdrop of rolling hills and open countryside, this wonderful wooden two-bedroom lodge is perfect for families seeking a comfortable base from which to explore the scenic Angus glens. Enjoying a quiet location in a complex of properties, there are walking and cycling routes straight from the doorstep offering opportunities to discover the picturesque waterfalls of the Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve (3.5 miles) and the panoramic views from the summit of The Snub.

Double-height vaulted ceilings and open-plan interiors create a welcoming atmosphere for relaxing and socialising together, away from the demands of a busy life. Wooden details and large windows looking onto the surrounding landscape enhance a sense of harmony with the natural environment, even though you are only a short walk from the traditional bar and restaurant.

Leave your walking boots and wellies in the entrance hall before stepping into the impressive open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where wooden planked walls and double-height ceilings make this a warm and inviting space. Cook up hearty breakfasts in the stylish kitchen area, where you will find everything you need to make your stay a home from home. Watch wildlife from the cosy dining table looking out onto the valley and mountains while you plan your day’s activities. When you return after a day of exploration, sink into one of the inviting sofas and watch a family film or play a board game together. Both of the restful bedrooms, a light and airy king-size and pretty twin, enjoy en-suite shower rooms and you have your own indoor sauna to soothe aching muscles after a day walking in the mountains.

Venturing onto your private decked area, watch the sun setting across the valley as you soak in your private hot tub and share al fresco meals at the seating area, enjoying the tranquillity of your surroundings. There is ample parking off-road parking.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The picturesque valley of Glen Clova, one of the five Angus Glens is a paradise for nature enthusiasts, with the valley strewn with rare alpine flowers and golden eagles soaring overhead in the rugged mountains. Pack your camera and binoculars for rambles through the glen. Follow the path from your lodge to Loch Brandy (1.5 miles), offering excellent views across to the East Grampians. You can even try your hand at trout fishing from the banks if you choose.

Walk or cycle to Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve (3.5 miles) and explore the many rare plants that grow on the cliffs and in the gullies, including purple saxifrage and Alpine blue-sow-thistle. Follow the 5km Corrie Fee trail to the edge of the Glen Doll forest; spot roe deer as you wander along the banks of Fee burn and navigate the path through the glacial boulders that dot the corrie floor.

Well worth a visit is the popular town of Kirriemuir (14.5 miles), the birthplace of J.M. Barrie, author of the much-loved childhood story, Peter Pan. See the original costumes and manuscripts from the first-ever performance of the tale and discover how his childhood inspired his writing. Walk up Kirriemuir Hill, past the large standing stone to Neverland Park where younger guests will enjoy exploring Captain Hook’s ship. Absorb the fabulous 360-degree views from the Camera Obscura and pause at Barrie’s grave in the hilltop cemetery.

From the isolated and peaceful Shetland Islands in the north to the thriving border towns and cities in the south, across wild mountains and serene lochs, and encompassing over 700 islands, Scotland’s rich and dramatic landscape simply must be seen to be appreciated. Scotland is home to the ten highest mountains in the UK – including Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak – and is bordered by three seas, offering epic scenery unlike any other you may have seen.

Whether you choose to explore the Highlands, lowlands or islands, lovers of the great outdoors will be thrilled by the stunning Scottish landscapes where some of the rarest UK wildlife can be glimpsed, including golden eagles, dolphins and whales. Take a road trip on the North Coast 500, Scotland’s version of Route 66, to experience the sheer beauty of the land’s wilderness or, as Scotland is the home of golf, either tee off at one of the 550 courses across parkland, heathland and links courses.

Scotland is also a land of unique culture where the people are renowned for their incredible warmth and hospitality. Experience the peaceful Isle of Lewis where Scots Gaelic is widely spoken, or immerse yourself in the cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen which are vibrant with thriving arts scenes, delicious restaurants and bustling nightlife. And no trip to Scotland is complete without exploring the castles and distilleries: learn about clan rivalries or bloody battles amongst 13th-century battlements or try a taste of Scotland itself during a tour of one of the 120 whisky distilleries. Pure Scottish culture in a glass.

With so many beautiful places to visit and things to experience, a break to Scotland should not be missed. Our fantastic Scottish holiday cottages will ensure a truly memorable getaway. Whether it’s a dog-friendly countryside cottage for two, or a vast and resplendent castle for the entire clan on a tranquil island, we have a holiday in Scotland to suit everyone.
