With walking and cycling routes straight from the doorstep, spend your days exploring the scenic valley. Picnic by picturesque Loch Brandy (1.5 miles), cast your rods in the River Esk or climb up Glen Doll for panoramic views. Further afield, discover the city of Dundee (32 miles) and the mountain resort of Glenshee (43 miles).

A spacious open-plan interior, double-height ceilings and large windows looking out onto the distant mountains create a bright and inviting space for rest and relaxation. Wooden walls and warm shades enhance the unity with the natural environment. You’re not completely cut off though, the traditional bar and restaurant are only a short walk away for sociable evenings.

Take off your outdoor clothing and boots in the entrance hall before stepping into the generous open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Your kitchen area comes with everything you need to prepare delicious dinners to share around the dining table chatting about the highlights of your day. A haven for nature enthusiasts, the picturesque Glen Clova is one of the five Angus Glens, with abundant wildlife and spectacular scenery. From your lodge you can follow the mountain path to scenic Loch Brandy (1.5 miles) for an al fresco picnic lunch or trout fishing from the banks. Climb up Glen Doll or bag yourself a Munro with a hike up Mayar or Driesh (3 miles). Explore the Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve by foot or pedal and catch a glimpse of one of the magnificent golden eagles soaring overhead.

One of the many wonderful beaches along the Angus coastline, Montrose (32 miles) with its 3 miles of golden sands is the perfect place to spend the day. Wander along the stretch of beach exploring the rock pools, build a sandcastle or play a game of rounders or beach cricket. Test your skills on the pitch and putt course or slip and slide your way around Seafront Splash just behind the beach.

Well worth a visit is Scotland’s newest city, Perth (41 miles); browse the art galleries and independent stores for a unique memento of your holiday before enjoying a meal in one of the welcoming cafes and restaurants. See the city from a different perspective with a relaxing pleasure cruise along the River Tay towards Elcho Castle. Uncover the history of the Black Watch regiment at Balhousie Castle, with its fascinating museum found inside.
