Outdoor enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with the activities available near the cottage. The East Haven coastline (0.5 miles) offers scenic coastal walks and long sandy beaches for rock pooling and shoreline strolls. Stroll through the historic fishing village of East Haven admiring the award-winning flower displays and watching the fishermen haul in their catches. Follow the coast path to Carnoustie (3 miles) where you will find more than just golf on offer. Sailing, windsurfing and fishing are all available in the bay or dive into the clear waters for an invigorating swim.

 

Enjoy the scenic surroundings with a day spent at Monikie Country Park (7.5 miles). Take a leisurely stroll around the two former reservoirs or wander through the beautiful woodland and parkland. Hire a rowboat for a relaxing trip across the water or for something more active, why not try kayaking or dinghy-sailing? Test your head for heights on the High Ropes course or spot wetland birds at Denfind Bird Sanctuary within the park.

 

Lace up your walking boots for days spent hiking the Angus Glens where you will find heather-clad hills and an abundance of wildlife. Glen Clova (32 miles) is a hillwalker's delight, with routes for all abilities. Find the perfect picnic spot on a ramble to tranquil Loch Brandy or challenge yourself with a hike to the summit of Snub. Further afield, the mountain resort of Glenshee (51 miles) offers year-round activities. During the summer months, walk or mountain bike the rugged terrain and in the winter, spend the day skiing or snowboarding the many slopes and runs.

Just back from a fantastic week at Hatton Lodge. The Lodge is beautifully furnished and has everything you will need for a quiet and very comfortable stay. Superb comfortable cottage. Well equipped and bonus of enclosed garden plus parking. Enjoyed watching the deer in the next field from the garden. This is the 3rd time that we have stayed in the cottage, it would have been the 4th, however, a certain pandemic prevented this. A great get away from it all in a peaceful location and lovely surroundings. The cottage is of a high standard, well appointed and the perfect size for a couple. Parking is easy and right outside. East Haven beach is not too far away by car and the coastal path gives you access to Arbroath one way and Carnoustie the other.

The cottage is very well appointed and well situated. A lovely, quiet location but within easy reach of Carnoustie, Arbroath, Broughty Ferry and Dundee. Very dog friendly, Bobby (our dog) loved the treats and the enclosed garden. The birds in the garden were a delight and we were visited one night by a hedgehog. The cottage is very clean well equipped with everything you need for the week. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of space in the cupboard to put all your clothes. They have a lovely starter pack to welcome you to the cottage, also well equipped for dogs with treats towels and bowls.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Hatton Lodge. The owners left us welcome gifts which we and our dog enjoyed. A lovely touch. Cottage was spotless and homely. The secure garden for the dog was a bonus. Hope to return.
