The luxurious lodge sleeps four guests, making it perfect for a small family or two couples, and also welcomes one canine visitor. Enjoy memorable evenings on the patio, admiring the views of the loch whilst toasting marshmallows around the firepit or sipping champagne in the hot tub.

This light and bright space oozes elegance, with sumptuous sofas to sink into at the end of an action-packed day. Curl up to watch your favourite film on the Smart TV or listen to music on the Bluetooth speaker. Choose from the delightful twin (which can be made up as a super-king-size on request) and an elegant king-size bedroom.

There are some stunning walking trails leading away from the village, including to the hills of Screel and Bengairn. You can also walk across the causeway at low tide, to visit the old smuggling haunt of Hestan Island.

Keen foodies will be delighted to learn that nearby Castle Douglas (7.5 miles) is one of Scotland’s designated ‘food towns’. The 18th-century market town is teeming with independent shops, cafes, and restaurants, all proudly selling and serving a vast array of local produce. Dine out in one of the highly regarded restaurants, or stock up on a range of delicious delicacies for your supper.

There are some fabulous sandy beaches along the coastline of Dumfries and Galloway. Sandyhills Beach, just 13 miles away, is a large, sandy beach, backed by sand dunes. The beach is the perfect spot for a relaxing picnic or gentle stroll along the shoreline and welcomes four-legged visitors all year. The beach has shallow waters and is popular with bathers. After a day on the sand, head to the wee cafe to refuel.

This place is a real gem. The pictures really do not do it justice. It is so peaceful. The accommodation is immaculate. The views are fantastic. If you are looking for a total get away. This is it. Due covid, some of the pubs and restaurants are struggling for staff so you may need to do a little bit of your own catering.
