This wonderful bespoke luxurious lodge is located in beautiful rural area on a large working family run farm with a fantastic private hot tub and wonderful loch and countryside scenery to enjoy.

Perfect for a family holiday or a romantic retreat, couples and small families will love this contemporary, yet homely lodge moored by the banks of the splendid Bengairn Loch. After a busy day exploring the borders region of Scotland, relax and unwind, marvelling at the ever-changing views over the water. You’re not completely cut off from civilisation, though – the bonny seaside village of Auchencairn with shop, post office, cafe, restaurant and beach is just 1 mile away.

Unique in tones of navy and pale, dusty pink, warm wooden floors are complemented with cream walls in this stylish home. Making the most of its spectacular waterside location, large windows and patio doors allow light to flood into the charming open-plan living space. With tranquil en-suite bedrooms at either end of the living space, privacy and personal space are easy to come by if it should be required.

Step inside this luxurious, single-storey lodge and drop your outdoor clothing in the hall vestibule and potter through to the spacious open-plan living space. It’s light during the day, yet once the wood burner-effect electric fire is lit it becomes cosy and welcoming, just perfect for relaxing on the comfortable sofas or enjoying a sociable meal in the amber ambience. On warm evenings, open the French doors to the patio and soak in the private hot tub enjoying magnificent loch views as the sun goes down. Wake rejuvenated in the bedrooms, both with access to the patio and enjoy your morning cuppa listening to the sounds of the water.

Outside, the large patio has a seating area with comfortable table and chairs, perfect for al fresco dining morning, noon and night. Enjoy the dark skies, stargazing with a wee dram or a nice glass of wine in hand.

The bustling 18th-century market town of Castle Douglas (9 miles) is also a designated Food Town with lots of excellent, local produce. Here, visit Carlingwark Loch, dotted with islands and great for boating, learning to sail and picnicking. Kirkcudbright (11 miles), a harbour town on the Solway Coast, is known as the Artists Town, and has many independent shops alongside some great places to eat.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love exploring Galloway Forest Park (35 miles), home to dramatic ancient woodland, magnificent scenery and an astonishing range of local wildlife. This, the first Dark Sky Park in Europe, offers walking, cycling, fishing or perhaps just relaxing in the tearooms. Galloway Activity Centre (19 miles) is located by the banks of Loch Ken and offers laser tag, archery, sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and a climbing tower.

Mabie Farm Park (24 miles) has a boating pond, pedal go-karts, quad bikes and trampolines, whilst Mabie Forest is one of the world-class 7stanes mountain biking centres and caters for beginners right through to expert riders. Keen golfers can play a round at Castle Douglas Golf Club (9 miles), Kirkcudbright Golf Club (11 miles) or Dalbeattie Golf Club (8 miles). Wildlife and bird enthusiasts can enjoy a trip to the RSPB Ken Dee Marshes (15 miles) and explore the red kite trail, and Southwick Coast Wildlife Reserve (22 miles) has peaceful walks in pretty scenery.

Very comfortable lodge with everything you require and more. Beautiful views, friendly owners . We had a lovely stay- shame that we had some changeable weather, but that cant be helped!

The standard of the lodge is excellent, from the furnishings, equipment and it has everything you need for a relaxing week. The setting is outstanding, views are breathtaking, and the welcome from Fiona and Robin is brilliant, and they are very helpful - we cannot fault it, and would return again.

This is a very special location tucked away in the gentle and beautiful hills of Dumfries and Galloway. The lodge is modern, stylish with front seat views onto the Loch where so much is happening. It is on a working farm and we all loved learning about the running of it from Robin and Fiona, who were fabulous hosts. We will definitely be returning.

We had the best week ever at Auchencairn. There is so much to do close by, nice walks, amazing beaches and watersports. Not forgetting being able to wander about a working farm. The lodge is 5 star and has everything you need. The hot tub overlooks the loch and it was perfect as the sun came down. Robin and Fiona are amazing people and made us feelRead more so at home. What a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. The attention to detail was very impressive and we felt instantly welcomed and looked after by Fiona and Robin. We spent the week there with our almost 4 year old daughter and she loved watching the farm animals and wildlife. We had the bonus of a glimpse into farm life on day one of sheep shearing fRead moreor the year. What a fantastic lodge in a stunning location. Everything has been thought about when designing and presenting the lodge. Comfortable furniture, and very comfortable beds. Cannot recommend this lodge highly enough. We had the most relaxing break in an amazing lodge with the most welcoming of hosts. Loved being surrounded by nature and looking out to beautiful views from both the lodge and hot tub.

We feel privileged to have been the first people to have stayed in Holly. We can easily say it was the best self-catering property we have ever stayed in!
