Property code: 74117

In the quiet, coastal village of Colintraive on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll and Bute, sits this exquisite detached house, which is perfect for friends/family looking to spend quality time together. With spectacular views over the Kyles of Bute, guests will find it easy to relax, particularly if they’re snuggled up in front of the wood burner on a cold winter’s evening. Despite the tranquil setting, there is a shop and gastro-pub within a few hundred metres of the property. You can also take the world’s shortest ferry crossing over to the impressive Isle of Bute to explore the varying landscapes of the island. This area is a haven for outdoor pursuits enthusiasts with a range of activities on offer, whether it be land-based such as walking and cycling or water-based such as sailing or fishing. You may just want to enjoy the interesting flora and fauna of the area, of which there is plenty.

Just set back from the road, this impressive property is as immaculately presented on the inside as it is on the outside. It has a contemporary feel throughout with the light walls contrasting with the warm, wooden tones that help to bring a touch of tradition and comfort to the home, as do the tartan and check soft furnishings.

As you ascend the few steps to the front door and enter this reverse-level property, you will find yourself in the bright hallway which leads to four of the bedrooms. On the ground floor, there are two fresh and relaxing king-size rooms, both with lovely en-suite shower rooms, and two delightful twin rooms. All the bedrooms on this floor have views of the garden or surrounding area. Completing this floor is a stylish bathroom with shower over the bath.

Upstairs, the wonderful open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has the wow-factor with high, vaulted ceilings and exposed beams adding height. Guests have the choice of cooking in the well-equipped, modern kitchen, socialising at the table or relaxing in the lounge, whilst still enjoying each other’s company. On warm days, fling open the double doors and spill out on to the balcony to enjoy al fresco dining with a backdrop of the picturesque Kyles of Bute as sailing boats cruise up and down. The master king-size bedroom with its dressing room, en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower, and sea views is also on this floor.

In addition to the balcony on the first floor with its dining furniture, there is also an enclosed garden to the rear complete with charcoal BBQ and seating. There is ample parking at the front of the property. This property also has a private mooring available, for those guests looking to bring their own boat.

  • 5 bedrooms – 3 kings-size and 2 twins
  • Master bathroom with shower and bath, 2 en-suite shower rooms and 1 en-suite bathroom
  • Electric range oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer

  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details

Situated on the narrowest point of the shores along the Kyles of Bute, Colintraive is a small, welcoming community with a hotel, shop, garden and bowling green. It has over 150 years of farming heritage, which can be explored in more detail at the heritage centre. Caol Ruadh Scuplture Park is on the outskirts of the village and is worth a visit. The ferry ride from Colintraive to Rhubodach on the Isle of Bute only takes a few minutes and with its delightful towns, museums and even its own castle, you may find yourself returning more than once during your stay. The island is relatively small and compact, but the landscapes vary from rolling hills to heather-clad moorlands to sandy beaches, so there's something for everyone, whether you're a walker, cyclist or fishing enthusiast. On the other side of the Cowal Peninsula, you will find Loch Striven, yet another sea loch extending from the Firth of Clyde and a beautiful spot for a walk, a cycle, a fish or a picnic. This area of Scotland around the Kyles of Bute is known as the 'Secret Coast' because of its peacefulness and low number of visitors, so if you want to immerse yourself in the beautiful Scottish scenery and truly relax, this is a great location for you.

A very comfortable cottage which surpassed our expectations. Warm and well equipped. Three couples had plenty of room and never wanted for hot water. Lots of information and recommendations from the owner which were very helpful. Would recommend to anyone.

Comfortable sociable house in a lovely location. Extremely handy for the hotel/pub which is a 20 second walk from the house, and the ferry over to Bute is a further 20 seconds away! Lovely walks from the house.

Lovely house. Very comfortable clean and spacious. Our grandchildren loved the fact they could bike for miles on a single track road. There were cars but they wore reflective waistcoats and were careful. It wasnt busy. They loved the ferries, we went to the Isle of Bute twice. Fenced in garden was great too. Wonderful place. Definitely recommend itRead more. Hide

Lovely location and scenery. Large spacious house with great views. Equipment and furniture is a little tired and needs updating, esp the television and dvd player Could have done with more up to date games and books. Maybe improve on the cleaning as the toilets were dirty and rooms dusty. Local pub was great. Convenient to get to the Bute ferry.
