Complete with a summer house and a large, enclosed mature garden, this wonderful dog-friendly property is ideal for a small family and makes a perfect retreat to unwind in at the end of a lovely day.

On entering this light, fresh and charming period cottage you will find the spacious and relaxing open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The pretty lounge is a perfect space to unwind in with plenty of comfortable seating, TV and floor-to-ceiling windows with French doors leading to the garden. The dining area is nicely situated and makes the perfect backdrop for a romantic meal or for grabbing a snack or breakfast, which you can prepare in the elegant and fully equipped kitchen. Exploring the ground floor further, there’s an additional, more intimate lounge where you can snuggle up and enjoy a favourite film or catch up with a good book. This lounge is coolly decorated and features a double sofa bed. Going upstairs the cosy and welcoming master bedroom features a king-size bed and a TV.

Stepping outside, the large garden is fully enclosed, making it ideal for children to play and for dogs to run about. There’s a lovely seating area perfect for nocturnal stargazing, a spot of al fresco dining or a glass of wine in the evening. At the end of the garden further seating is available in the charming summerhouse.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The bustling town of Lauder has an array of excellent restaurants, shops and pubs to discover and is home to the magnificent 16th century Thirlestane Castle which plays host to a variety of major events including the Vintage Motor Extravaganza, the Scottish Championship Horse Trials and the Tour de Lauder. Local attractions include Mellerstain and Gardens (12.5 miles), Bank Street Gardens (10.5 miles), Old Gala House (11.5 miles) and Abbotsford – the home of Walter Scott (11.5 miles). There are a number of delightful towns to visit including Melrose (11 miles), Selkirk (16 miles) and Kelso (18 miles). The vibrant capital of Scotland is also within easy reach (27 miles). Anglers can try their hand at salmon and trout fishing on the River Leaden and River Tweed, and walkers, hikers and mountain bikers have plenty of trails to explore along the Lammermuir Hills and the Southern Upland Way. This is a fantastic area for keen cyclists, nature lovers and golfers, with a choice of great golf courses nearby including those at Lauder (1 mile), Torwoodlee (9 miles), Galashiels (10.5 miles) and Melrose (11.5 miles). Melrose is also home to attractions including Priorwood Garden, Harmony Garden and the Three Hills Roman Heritage Centre.

Went for a week on 13th March 2020 with our 2 dogs. The property was easy to find and there was parking just outside. Inside was lovely and clean and very spacious. The enclosed garden was a good size and safe for the dogs. Luckily we had some sun and was very nice to be able to sit in the garden. Despite rain, wind and snow the cottage was very warm, cosy and comfortable. A well equipped place particularly the kitchen. There was a clever use of light and windows bringing this cottage up to date, giving a modern, spacious and airy feeling. We stayed in Lammermuir cottage along with our two dogs as a base for exploring the Scottish Borders. The cottage was deceptively large inside with plenty of room for us all to relax. The kitchen was well very equipped with everything you could possibly need to prepare and cook meals. The garden is huge and secure which was great for the dogs too eRead morexplore and play in. This cottage is sheer heaven! A superb cottage in a wonderfully welcoming little town. The beautiful garden is completely secure for your doggies, and the house itself is warm, immaculately clean, and very comfortable indeed. This was an amazing cottage for the two of us and our dog, Molly. The kitchen/dining room looking out onto the garden was amazing. We opened the patio doors every day and Molly was able to spend all day in the garden if she wanted to, safe and secure. Was a great base for us to visit all the scottish border towns, which we did and also close to EdiRead morenburgh to visit family. We will definitely be back to Lammermuir Cottage, thank you. Hide
