This beguilingly spacious romantic holiday retreat is situated in a picturesque Scottish Borders town and offers cosy and inviting accommodation for up to four guests. Stylishly furnished and imaginatively decorated in warm and restful tones throughout, the property makes for a fantastic getaway for couples, families or a group of friends looking for a quiet spot in the delightful Royal and Ancient Burgh of Lauder.

Complete with a summer house and a large, enclosed mature garden, this wonderful dog-friendly property is ideal for a small family and makes a perfect retreat to unwind in at the end of a lovely day.

On entering this light, fresh and charming period cottage you will find the spacious and relaxing open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The pretty lounge is a perfect space to unwind in with plenty of comfortable seating, TV and floor-to-ceiling windows with French doors leading to the garden. The dining area is nicely situated and makes the perfect backdrop for a romantic meal or for grabbing a snack or breakfast, which you can prepare in the elegant and fully equipped kitchen. Exploring the ground floor further, there’s an additional, more intimate lounge where you can snuggle up and enjoy a favourite film or catch up with a good book. This lounge is coolly decorated and features a double sofa bed. Going upstairs the cosy and welcoming master bedroom features a king-size bed and a TV.

Stepping outside, the large garden is fully enclosed, making it ideal for children to play and for dogs to run about. There’s a lovely seating area perfect for nocturnal stargazing, a spot of al fresco dining or a glass of wine in the evening. At the end of the garden further seating is available in the charming summerhouse.

The bustling town of Lauder has an array of excellent restaurants, shops and pubs to discover and is home to the magnificent 16th century Thirlestane Castle which plays host to a variety of major events including the Vintage Motor Extravaganza, the Scottish Championship Horse Trials and the Tour de Lauder. Local attractions include Mellerstain and Gardens (12.5 miles), Bank Street Gardens (10.5 miles), Old Gala House (11.5 miles) and Abbotsford – the home of Walter Scott (11.5 miles). There are a number of delightful towns to visit including Melrose (11 miles), Selkirk (16 miles) and Kelso (18 miles). The vibrant capital of Scotland is also within easy reach (27 miles). Anglers can try their hand at salmon and trout fishing on the River Leaden and River Tweed, and walkers, hikers and mountain bikers have plenty of trails to explore along the Lammermuir Hills and the Southern Upland Way. This is a fantastic area for keen cyclists, nature lovers and golfers, with a choice of great golf courses nearby including those at Lauder (1 mile), Torwoodlee (9 miles), Galashiels (10.5 miles) and Melrose (11.5 miles). Melrose is also home to attractions including Priorwood Garden, Harmony Garden and the Three Hills Roman Heritage Centre.

A fabulous accommodation with a amazing garden to sit in and for dogs to run around in the accommodation is exceptionally clean and very sizeable I would highly recommend it is also very well located for Edinburgh and central Scotland

What a lovely cottage and so perfectly situated for a bit of low level touring. (Too many wonderful towns in the area to visit all). The cottage was so comfortable with everything you could dream of and so immaculate. Shame the weather wasn't great enough to enjoy the beautiful garden. Great to have parking just outside the door. Great location and beautiful house & garden. We stayed for one week with our dog and all three of us really enjoyed the time there. Great base and pretty much left the car parked up for the week which was lovely. Enjoyed the house, local shops and pubs. Would definitely go back to this property.

Lovely cottage with a large garden ideal for our dog. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped kitchen. The cottage is located in a nice friendly town and everywhere was dog friendly. We would recommend this cottage for a lovely holiday.

Beautiful holiday cottage, spacious and comfortable. Well situated for centre of Lauder. The exceptional fully enclosed garden to the rear accessed by full width sliding doors was the highlight for us and our dog!

A marvelous stay in Lauder. The cottage really was bigger inside than it appears from the outside. Well equipped, comfortable and certainly up there with the best accommodation we have stayed in. From walking in the door, with a view straight through to the garden we felt at home. Everything you could need is provided. Enclosed garden great for 4 legged members of the family. Open large patio doors and enjoy breakfast on patio area outside. Chill in evening sun on furniture at top of garden next to summerhouse with a drink of your choice. Lovely well equipped cottage. Better than the photos show. We were lucky to have good weather and really made use of the garden which our dog loved. You forgot that you were in town when out in the garden it is quiet and peaceful. Great for bird watching! Plenty of walks in the area. Great butchers and fruit and veg shop also well stocked Co op

This was the second visit that my husband & I have made to Lammermuir Cottage. Once again, it did not disapoint. The weather was fantastic & we took full advantage of the beautiful garden when we were not out & about. Lauder is a lovely village, & centrally located to visit the many attractions around it. Beautiful cottage, ideally situated in Lauder for all amenities. Great walks, nearby weather permitting. Lauderdale hotel, black bull, do lovely food, and cost for a nice drink. Bus or train into Edinburgh for a great day out.

Lammemuir Cottage TOTALLY surpassed our expectations. We stayed at The Bothy last year which, in fairness was comfy, BUT we booked that place based on the photographs on the website only to be so disappointed with the garden. We looked on in awe at the garden of 7 The Loan (over the fence) thinking it was a private home. This is a lovely cottage with a beautiful garden, ideal for our dog and us. The cottage is conveniently situated for all of the amenities of Lauder (which are many). All together an extremely pleasant stay.

Lauder is quiet town with 3 pubs, 1 takeaway, and a couple of eating places. We found some good walks around the area. The people were all very friendly. It was a place we felt you could have lived in.

Lovely cottage with everything you need and more. Stairs are steep and watch the last step it gets lost in the colour of the tiles. Gorgeous garden, kitchen and very comfy. really central and easy access to shops and pubs short drive to Floors and other attractions and you can walk to Thirlstane Castle which was an unexpected bonus.

Lammermuir cottage is a gem. The simple exterior hides generous well equipped accommodation. The enclosed sunny garden was much appreciated by both ourselves and our four legged friend.

Lammermuir Cottage is absolutely lovely and even better on arrival than the pictures. The garden is beautiful and totally enclosed so if you have a dog then perfect. It was such a comfortable cottage as well and being just off the main road, close enough to the shops and restaurants/pubs but far enough not to be too disturbed by the traffic. Great Read morelocation for walking and getting out and about to explore the Scottish Borders. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfy gate away. Hide

My husband & I have just returned from a lovely week in the fabulous Lammermuir cottage in Lauder. This is the first time in over 30yrs that we have been on a self catering holiday & we were not disappointed. The cottage is ike a tardus inside, well equipped, beautiful garden, which we were able to sit out in on a few afternoons . Lauder is a lovelRead morey village, with two hotels each serving lovely food. We ate on several occasions at the Lauderdale & was made to feel really welcome by Lee. Amazing Hide
