With its array of quirky shops, friendly pubs and fantastic restaurants, Portree makes a wonderful base for exploring the Isle of Skye. Portree hosts a range of excellent leisure facilities including the Fingal Centre – with a swimming pool and gym – and the Aros Visitor and Cultural Centre which runs a programme of theatre, music and cinema. From the harbour you can take sea-life safari boat trips, or you can enjoy stunning coastal walks, exploring the Lump (1 mile), the Quiraing (0.5 miles), the Old Man of Storr (7.5 miles) or the Trotternish Ridge (17.5 miles). Other attractions include the popular Talisker Distillery (16.5 miles), Dunvegan Castle and Gardens (21.5 miles) and Glenbrittle where you can try wild swimming in the magical fairy pools (23 miles). Heading south to Sconser (11.5 miles), you can catch a ferry which will take you to the beautiful and mysterious island of Raasay. This tiny island provides a haven for anyone seeking a tranquil spot to relax, meditate or enjoy nature. The island has numerous trails, moorland and coastal paths to explore, with wildlife including golden eagles, otters and dolphins. After climbing Dun Caan (18.5 miles), which offers splendid views across the island you might like to retire to the popular Isle of Raasay Distillery (15.5 miles).

This place was PERFECT and so well equipped. The location on the water is amazing and its nice that the owners are the house next door in case of any problem. Only 10 minutes walk to Portree. Also very cozy on cold days. Would come back in a heartbeat.

Really enjoyed our week at Loch View The weather wasnt great which meant we were indoors more than we wanted to be, but it was made all the better by staying here; comfort, well equipped, high levels of cleanliness, gorgeous ever changing view and friendly, helpful and welcoming Mary.

Lovely well equipped lodge with a stunning view of the Loch and in walking distance of Portree. The owners were very welcoming and clearly take pride in the upkeep and cleanliness of the lodge. We really enjoyed our stay and were sad to have to leave.

Perfect weekend stay. The cottage was immaculate and well equipped with everything we needed to make great dinners for ourselves when we found all the restaurants were fully booked. Very comfortable and well equipped property, an absolute godsend during a very wet and cool week! It was such a pleasure to return to a warm and pleasant environment. The view is also wonderful and having travelled all the way from the currently very dry and parched South of Fance, the lovely lawn and Loch were a real breath of fresh air!
