This delightful little cottage on the beautiful Kildermorie Estate is a lovely retreat for a couple seeking peace and quiet. Surrounded by stunning countryside and scenery, yet within easy access of the coast, it is the perfect place for some rest and relaxation.

Inside, this neat stone-built cottage is charmingly designed, with soft, neutral décor throughout and tasteful artwork on the walls. The overall feel is light and airy, and the absence of a TV or radio enhances the calming ambience.

Entering the front door, you first come into a small hallway that’s ideal for muddy boots and walking shoes. Stroll into the main living area, comprised of a cosy sitting area with a colourful sofa where you can relax together in the evening after a day out exploring. There’s also a smart kitchen area equipped with all the essentials. Up two small steps from the kitchen you’ll encounter the bedroom, which can be made up either as a twin or a king-size room if you prefer. The adjacent en-suite bathroom is fresh and clean with a shower over bath, hand basin and WC.

Outside, the cottage is blissfully peaceful and surrounded by glorious countryside. Enjoy listening to the birds sing and take a walk in the fresh air through the nearby woodland. There is plenty of space for parking on the gravelled area directly outside the cottage.

The stunning Kildermorie Estate offers lochs, rivers and hills to explore at your leisure. Go fishing in beautiful Loch Morie or bring your camera and take advantage of the many opportunities for some superb photography.

 

The charming town of Alness (13 miles) is famous for its cascades of flower decorations. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the picturesque high street before having lunch in one of the local restaurants and cafes. Just outside Alness is Dalmore; lovers of the single malt will enjoy a tour around this historic distillery – just be sure to book in advance as the tours are popular.

 

Further afield, head north towards the historic town of Tain (22 miles) on the south side of the Dornoch Firth. Take in the impressive architecture of Scotland's oldest royal burgh before enjoying lunch in one of the town's many restaurants.

we really enjoyed are stay at may cottage and the estate is in fantastic location, very peaceful we really enjoyed the time we spent there and the location was amazing for hiking. we would definitely stay there again and also recommend it to family and friends. the cottage was lovely and clean and we got a lovely welcome when we first arrived. overRead moreall we were very happy with the property. May Cottage is spotlessly clean and is on a extremely well kept traditional Highland Sporting Estate. All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly including Magda who welcomed us on our arrival. We enjoyed having the freedom to explore the Estate (stalking activities allowing). We fished in the lochs and the river glasa, watched Ospreys, Red ThrRead moreoated Divers, etc. We enjoyed the drive in on the private track which gave a real feeling of 'getting away from it all'. The cottage is a lovely place to stay, well-heated, well-equiped and spotless. The sitting room is not comfortable however, being only just wide enough for a two-seater sofa and certainly not big enough to swing a cat. Magda, Kris, and all the other staff that we met could not be more friendly and helpful. The road in however, is so rough that no nRead moreormal family car could make it. A high clearance appears a necessity. If you like remoteness as we do, this is the place for you Hide

May Cottage was indeed a lovely cottage for a country-side break. The surroundings are extraordinary and the location provides easy access to Ben Wyvis, Glenmorangie distillery, village of Alness and other places. There's plenty to see at the estate itself as well. The cottage was a lovely sight as it appeared down the track. It was as expected, clean, equipped, and spacious except for the small sitting room ( was perfect for one reading and relaxing enjoying the solitude. The cottage is nicely set in the grounds of the Estate. Nicely laid out and very clean. Parking is next to the property. The Estate grounds are very well kept and there are nice walks to go on.
