Located by the River Ness in the capital of the Scottish Highlands, this family home is ideally placed for those looking to explore the city on foot with plenty to see within the local area.

This elegant townhouse situated in the heart of Inverness sleeps ten guests in five, charming bedrooms. Perfect for groups of friends, families and two canine chums, the foodies among you can enjoy tasting some superb local produce in the nearby hotels, whilst the urbanites will love exploring the bustling town centre with its excellent range of boutique shops, quality eateries, friendly inns and art galleries. Return to play a game of table tennis in the outbuilding before spending the evening around the fire pit, sipping hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows.

With traditional furnishings set harmoniously within a contemporary palette, find a blend of authentic charm and modern touches in this large family home. Wooden and flagged floors warm the neutral walls, with vivid quirky artwork throughout adding character in abundance whilst flashes of tartan acknowledge the Highland location.

After a busy day out, be welcomed into the hallway and head through to the spacious and bright living room. Here the pastel-coloured tartan rug complements the artwork, and the sofas beckon you to relax with a good book, lighting the wood burner once the evening sets in to create an amber ambience. Prepare delicious meals in the kitchen before gathering in the dining room to enjoy sociable get-togethers with waterside views. Careful consideration has been given to the practical requirements of a group holiday, with the utility room serving as an extension to the kitchen with a further oven, hob and microwave - very useful when catering for large numbers. With plenty of space for wet clothes, it is also ideal for a dog bed or two. When adults and teens need a little space, the second lounge – with its large corner sofa and Sky TV – is perfect for allowing everyone some downtime.

Bright and welcoming, the bedrooms retain the same character seen throughout the house. A king-size bedroom on the mezzanine level has an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower and a corner bath perfect for a long soak. A further four lovely bedrooms are on the first floor, including a double with an en-suite shower, and a further family bathroom. With an additional shower room on the ground floor, this home from home is well set up to cater for your mixed-age family group.

Wake refreshed in the morning to enjoy that first cup of coffee of the day in the garden. Well-maintained and completely enclosed, kids and dogs can play on the lawn or keep themselves entertained with boules and croquet. If the weather turns, retreat under the awning with a glass of wine with the chiminea lit and the BBQ sizzling as the kids battle it out on the table tennis table. There is off-road parking for five cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Inverness is home to some fabulous independent shops and boutiques, so be sure to allocate a little bit of time for some retail therapy. If you’re a book lover, you must pop into Scotland’s largest second-hand bookshop on Church Street. Located in a former Gaelic church, it really is a sight to behold. Another must-see is Ness Island. This majestic, tranquil spot is a hidden gem within the bustling city; you can wander along the peaceful riverside paths and children will love the rowing boats or taking a ride on the miniature railway. However, to get a real feel for the city, hop on one of the open-top bus tours, where a narrator will tell you all about the history of Inverness and The Highlands. A trip to Inverness wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Loch Ness. Jump aboard one of the many cruises that depart from Drumnadrochit and go looking for Nessie, whilst also admiring the jaw-dropping scenery.

This spacious, well-appointed house is located in a super spot facing the River Ness in a quiet area, yet a short, easy walk to town for shops, restaurants etc, and ideally placed for picking up the riverside walk on to the Ness Islands for our dog.

Stunning location right on the river fantastic house and garden plenty of space to unwind everything you need within walking distance cant ask for more .

This property was in a great location with beautiful walks along the River Ness and 5 minutes walk from city centre. It was very homely with plenty of space for larger groups and very well equipped. I would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful house in a fabulous location. Owners had left lots of useful information, loved the garden and games room on dry days and spent time doing jigsaws and playing games on the typical Scottish summer days. Also loved browsing all the books in the library/dining room. Cant fault the property in any way, would love to go back
