A lovely twin bedroom and stylish bathroom with a gorgeous roll-top bath are on the first floor, whilst a further four bedrooms are on the second floor. With careful consideration given to the needs of large parties, the three en-suite shower rooms make life easy for mixed-age family groups.

Outside, the fully enclosed patio area with hot tub is the perfect place to enjoy a midday al fresco lunch or an evening of stargazing with a nice glass of wine, good local beer or a wee dram. There are remnants dating back to Roman times such as a fort and shrine which you can spy on your travels, but the area is also home to otters, wildfowl and visiting breeding birds for the budding nature enthusiast. Fishermen can cast their line for Atlantic salmon upon the River Tweed, but literature fans will likely appreciate the opportunity to lose themselves amongst the very same countryside that inspired Sir Walter Scott. Scott’s View is 4.5 miles away and overlooks the majestic Dryburgh Abbey and the surrounding heathland. Melrose itself is an enchanting town dotted with shops, eateries and the ruins of the beautiful Melrose Abbey that legend states is home to a casket containing the re-buried heart of Robert the Bruce.

Lovely cottage. We stayed with two families - 4 adults and 5 children in total. We had plenty of space and the location was ideal. We explored the local area on some lovely local walks and the journey to Edinburgh was easy either by car or rail - we did both. Melrose has plenty of facilities right on the door step. Would happily return!
