Known as Scotland’s first and last village, Burnmouth is ideally situated on the Berwickshire Coastal Path, one of the Scottish Great Trails which leads from Berwick-upon-Tweed (6 miles) to Cockburnspath (15 miles). The harbour at Burnmouth is operational, and you can watch the boats come in with their daily catch. Heading north, you can explore the historic fishing town of Eyemouth (2.5 miles) which is home to a working harbour, the Museum at Gunsgreen House which tells the tale of 19th-century smuggling, and the Eyemouth Museum which commemorates the devastating storm of 1881. A little further on is St Abbs (6.5 miles) with its beautiful nature reserve, pretty harbour and cliff-top walks. Crossing the border, Berwick-upon-Tweed has a rich heritage, with attractions including the Berwick Barracks and The Main Guard, the drunk’s cell in Berwick Town Hall, and the great Elizabethan Walls. There are also some delightful beaches at Eyemouth, St Abbs and Coldingham Bay (6.5 miles). Heading inland, the stunning Edwardian mansion of Manderston (11 miles) is set in 56 acres of beautiful grounds with lakeside walks and woodland gardens. Also within easy reach is the fabulous Paxton House, Gallery and Country Park (18 miles), where you can enjoy country walks, boat trips and croquet. The house is renowned for its fine collection of Chippendale and Regency furniture and for its magnificent picture gallery which houses more than 70 paintings from the National Galleries of Scotland.

Beautiful accommodation in a lovely part of the world. House was immaculate and very unique. Would definitely recommend. Only disappointment was the local pub/restaurant has closed down so we needed to drive to Eyemouth for food etc but not a big deal and only 5 minutes away

A beautiful sea view cottage, well maintained, well equipped, comfy and clean. Helpful details shared with us by the owners before we travelled including what would be provided (eg washing up liquid, soap etc) to save us packing too much. Good location to explore the Scottish Border and northern part of Northumberland.
