Traditional log house located in a peaceful oasis on the edge of the Pentland Hills. The lodge stands in a secluded 1 acre garden backing onto meadows and has use of a 6 person arctic spa hot tub.

This picturesque lodge sits amidst glorious countryside just south of the Pentland Hills and is also within striking distance of Edinburgh. Comfortable and welcoming, it is ideal for a family or group of friends seeking a breath of fresh air in the Scottish Borders.

Inside, the traditional log house is warm and welcoming. The soft blue colour scheme of the large, open-plan living area complements the natural wood beautifully and creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere. There are carefully chosen pieces of art on the walls throughout the property, adding a sophisticated feel.

As you enter this single-storey lodge, you’ll find yourself in the stylish open-plan living area. This lovely space is perfect for family get-togethers, with a tidy, well-equipped kitchen at one end, and a cosy lounge area at the other, where there is a comfy corner sofa and TV for evening entertainment. The dining table benefits from plenty of light as it sits next to two large windows that offer charming views out into the garden. The three bedrooms – two doubles and one twin – are all beautifully decorated in tasteful, subtle colours and all have lovely views through the windows. The main bathroom benefits from a jacuzzi bath with a shower above – ideal for soaking tired limbs after a day out exploring. There is a second 'Jack and Jill' style bathroom which is accessed via one of bedrooms and hallway. This has a large shower and WC.

Stepping outside you come onto the pretty veranda. Sheltered and south facing, it is a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy a drink or a meal, and gaze out at the attractive garden, with its mature shrubs and trees, and to the fields beyond. There is a private hot tub which is charged at £100 per week or £70 for a short break, payable directly to the owner.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A half-hour drive brings you to the charming town of Peebles (16 miles) on the beautiful River Tweed. Enjoy a walk along the river, stroll along the characterful High Street and enjoy a meal in one of the many excellent cafes and restaurants of this picturesque town.

The UNESCO New Lanark Mills World Heritage Site (14 miles) offers a fascinating insight into life in this 18th-century cotton mill village located on the River Clyde. Explore the old school, the recreated houses and the mill itself. The impressive Falls of Clyde – a set of four waterfalls – is located just a mile north of the village and is well worth a visit.

For a day trip, Edinburgh (27 miles) is easily accessible. Less than an hour's drive will bring you to Scotland's elegant capital city, with its fascinating architecture, spectacular castle, museums and gardens.

Lovely cabin with a nice garden. Biggar is the closest place for some small shops, most other places are 30 mins away. Something to bear in mind as this is a place out in the sticks for some peace and quiet. We had two small children with us and they were happily entertained, just had to watch them around the pond/water along one side of the gardenRead more. They loved all the sheep and cows there is to see on our travels. We didn't bother the owners too much but they were very friendly when we did. Hide
