The lodge is located in a stunning position, elevated above the rugged coast alongside Rascarrel Bay. The estate on which the lodge sits is the perfect place to begin your exploration of the breathtaking and varied landscape of Dumfries and Galloway. Take a hike around the estate, embark on an adventurous cycle ride, or simply stroll down to the sea's edge to peer across these mysterious waters.

There are plenty of activities to pursue beyond the estate, too. Whisky tasting, golfing, and sea and loch fishing are just some of the pursuits you can enjoy. For amenities and even a restaurant meal out, head to the quaint village of Auchencairn, 3 miles away.

Head inland towards the woods of the Galloway Forest Park and make a pit-stop for some hearty scran on the way at Castle Douglas. The town is full of attractions, boutiques, historical sites, all in stunning surroundings. The River Dee floats by, with an island in one of its bends upon which stands the imposing 30-metre tower of Castle Threave. This mighty fortress dates back to 1369, when Archibald the Grim cast his shadow, and is now home to peregrine falcons.

The lodge itself was everything you could want, it was a home away from home with amazing views. It was very clean, everything that you could need was provided and it was nice and warm on arrival! Make sure youre prepared as the closest shop is about 20 minutes away and the best area we found to be busy that was close-ish was Dalbeattie for a pub.
