Perfect for celebrating special occasions with family or friends, this historic home offers plenty of space both inside and out and is ideally located for making the most of the local outdoor pursuits.

This charming 18th-century home is perfectly placed within Alba’s beautiful region of Dumfries and Galloway. Sleeping 8 guests across 4 bedrooms, it’s surrounded by quiet rural scenery with a burn running past the property, and it’s within easy reach of Castle Douglas town (3 miles), the fishing port of Kirkcudbright (6 miles), and the sandy Dhoon beach (9 miles); it’s simply made for relaxed family get-togethers.

There’s a lovely homely feel in this historic home, which blends traditional country-style with soft tones throughout its bright, spacious rooms, relaxation and play areas. The helpful owners have thought of everything to make your stay incredibly comfortable so guests can simply sit back and soak up the spectacular views of rolling hills and fields from all sides of the house.

Prepare family meals together on the Rayburn and electric oven in the well-equipped kitchen, and enjoy in the dining area where you’ll find French doors leading out to the garden. After long days in the fresh Scottish air, the living room is very inviting with its toasty open fire (logs included), a great place for some banter or to enjoy the TV, Blu-ray player and radio. There’s also a handy utility room, a shower, and WC on the ground floor. As sleepy heads start to nod, venture upstairs where there are 4 spacious bedrooms: four twins; plus, two bathrooms.  If there’s a wee bairn in the family, a cot is also available by arrangement.

Outside, you’ll find a large enclosed garden with patio seating by the lawn so you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks while children and pup pals play football (be mindful of passing farm traffic by the main gate). Andy Murray fans will be delighted to find a tennis court so they can perfect their game. If a dreich day lands in, nae bother - a drying room, and a delightful games room with an open fire and cosy seating save the day! Head for the old hayloft and stables, where children of all ages can enjoy billiards, darts, and table tennis to the background of radio tunes, or enjoy personal playlists from the iPod dock. For shopping essentials, take the short drive into Castle Douglas (3 miles), a designated Food Town, where you can stock up on a vast array of produce, and enjoy the local eateries, bars and galleries.

Had an amazing week with extended family. Cottage is very spacious, well equipped and with brilliant facilities. Great to be able to have breakfast in the kitchen and then dinner in the separate dining room before relaxing in front of the real fire in the large living room - we even had a pianist in the party to play the baby grand piano. Made greaRead moret use of the games room and tennis court. Great walks in surrounding countryside and coastline. All in all a great cottage and would highly recommend. Hide

We had a great week at Bellerigg. The countryside is beautiful and being so close to Castle Douglas is a bonus. We made great use of the tennis court and games room. The house is rather lived in and a wee bit worn round the edges but it is homely and comfortable. The aga kept us warm and the open fire is lovely in the evening. We had a very enjoyable week at the property, which was lovely and spacious and conducive to relaxation. We loved having tennis and snooker for our sole use - no need to book a time! The house was very comfortable, the grounds picturesque and there were lovely views in all directions. The gardens were well kept and we loved watching the vast varietRead morey of birds at the feeders throughout the day. Lots of personal touches - it was like staying at a family members home when they were out of town! Hide
