Sitting at the foot of Glen Doll, the area surrounding your cottage is a haven for wildlife with red deer, red squirrels and golden eagles, frequent visitors to the glen. With walks from the doorstep leading along the glen, there are numerous wildlife-spotting opportunities as you explore the stunning landscape. Enjoy a riverside ramble along the banks of the River Esk or challenge yourself with a hike up Driesh or Mayar, the two closest Munros to your lodge. Discover the natural amphitheatre at Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve (5.5 miles) where you can walk through the alpine flowers, take in the breathtaking views from the edge of the forest or follow the popular route up Corrie Fee’s path.

Hop in the saddle and explore the area by bicycle. There are numerous cycle trails through Glen Clova and neighbouring glens, allowing you to explore the lovely mountain scenery at your leisure. For those who prefer a faster-paced ride, there is a choice of mountain bike routes offering steep ascents and speedy descents in the glen, including the challenging ‘Streak of Lightning’ run leading to Loch Muick.

Golf enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with the courses in the area. Kirriemuir Golf Club (13 miles) boasts lush fairways and undulating greens, with holes to challenge all abilities. There is the spectacular links course at Monifieth Golf Club (35.5 miles) where the two courses provide stunning scenery and tricky holes. And the world-famous Championship courses of Carnoustie (30 miles) and Royal and Ancient St Andrews (44 miles) are within an hour’s drive of your holiday lodge. Take time to visit the British Golf Museum at St Andrews to explore the extraordinary history of the game.
