Charming 1830s cottage that's been fully modernised to provide a stylish, contemporary space for two. Unwind and discover the beauty of the Isle of Skye.

Situated in picturesque Tarskavaig in South Skye, this charming stone property sleeps two making it the perfect romantic and remote couples’ getaway. Enjoy magnificent views of the neighbouring Isle of Rum from here, and discover the many footpaths and walking routes from your doorstep. Here you can relax in near-total seclusion, with the nearest shop 8 miles away in Ardvasar.

The former croft house retains many of its traditional features, from the wooden beams that run along the ceiling to the exposed stonework around the windows. There’s a striking contrast between old and new, with a fusion of rural and contemporary styles that perfectly suits the location.

This mix of styles is highlighted by the addition of a mezzanine kitchen above the open-plan lounge/diner, creating more space in which to relax and unwind. Prepare an intimate meal for two in the boldly designed kitchen, with seating beside the window to give you a beautiful backdrop for your meal. Alternatively, dine beside the lounge area for a little extra room.

Find a cosy double bedroom on the lower ground floor, providing the perfect spot for a good night’s sleep. Open the large patio doors that look onto the garden as you sip your morning coffee and take in the incredible setting. Here you will also find the bright and contemporary shower room.

The garden makes a great spot for watching the stars in the clear skies or for enjoying some Scottish sun if you are lucky with the weather. Take a seat at the garden furniture with a glass of your favourite local whisky and take in the peace and serenity that surrounds you. Private parking is available on the driveway. From here, a short trail stretching less than half a mile leads down to the shore.

From Tarskavaig Bay, watch the spectacular sunset on the pristine and peaceful white sands - a wonderful spot to savour the tranquillity and beauty of Skye. On the coast, you'll have plenty of opportunities to spot seals or possibly even an otter in the water, as well as an array of birds from buzzards to sea eagles in the skies above.

Enjoy a romantic dinner for two at one of the many popular local restaurants at Duisdale (11 miles), Toravaig (8.5 miles) and Isle Ornsay (10 miles), or visit the Michelin-starred Kinloch Lodge (13 miles). Tour the 19th-century steading at Torabhaig Distillery (8.5 miles) and discover your new favourite whisky - a great souvenir for friends and family back home.

Uncover 1,500 years of history at Armadale Castle, Gardens and Museum (7.5 miles) - the spiritual home of Clan Donald. Explore the magnificent garden, step back in time at the museum, and see the romantic castle ruin.

From Armadale (8 miles), take the ferry to the fishing port of Mallaig on the mainland. As well as incredible views and a bustling atmosphere, here you will find the well-known Jacobite steam train - featured in the Harry Potter movies - which follows the famous Road to the Isles. Or take the Skye Bridge (23.5 miles) to the mainland, which connects the Skye village of Kyleakin to the mainland village of Kyle of Lochalsh.
