Wonderful luxurious cottage located amid the beautiful Peebleshire countryside, making this a perfect base to explore all the delights of the Scottish Borders, fantastic city of Edinburgh and beyond.

Perfect for a family of four on their first visit to the area, this charming stone cottage is in an ideal location, 4 miles from the picturesque village of West Linton. Boasting the best of both worlds, the cottage is set amidst a rural landscape with uninterrupted views, yet close enough to Edinburgh (20 miles) for you to visit and enjoy a day in Scotland’s enchanting capital city.

Inside the cottage is smart and stylish, with beautiful care and attention lavished on all aspects of the decor. The ground floor is bright and elegant, completed by underfloor heating throughout, while upstairs sloping ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and a delicate colour scheme create a calming environment.

Enter the cottage and get dinner started in the kitchen/diner. With its neutral-tone cabinets, painted wood-panelled walls and French doors letting in plenty of natural light, it has a traditional homely feel to it. Cook up a storm and gather around the table to eat. Once everyone’s finished and the plates have been cleared, cross the hall to the sunny lounge. Light the wood burner in the corner and settle into a sofa. Relax with a family film on the Smart TV, or make a hot drink and curl up with a good book. Also, on the ground floor there’s a shower room.

Both bedrooms are on the first floor, along with a bathroom where you can finish your evening with a soak in the bath or a soothing hot shower. Snuggle into the comfort of your bed, and replenish your energy with a peaceful night’s sleep.

When the weather is warm, take your food and drinks straight out through the French doors to the patio table. After dark, this is the perfect spot for stargazing with a dram of whisky in hand. The enclosed garden also includes a sloping lawn.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom and 1 shower room
  • Electric Range oven and hob, Smeg fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer and Quooker tap
  • Paddock available for those bringing their own horse – to be pre booked directly with owner
  • Wood burner (first basket of logs included)
  • Electric, underfloor heating on ground floor and first floor bathroom and central heating included
  • Ample off-road private parking
  • Wi-Fi included
  • 2 dogs welcome permitted on ground floor of the house not upstairs
  • Shops, pubs and restaurants 4 miles
  • Smart TV with sound bar in lounge
  • Charcoal BBQ available

Close to the property there is a number of outdoor attractions, and there is something for all ages and interests. Stroll through the 60+ acres at Dawyck Botanic Garden (12 miles) to see incredible and unusual plants, while further afield Jupiter Artland (27 miles) is a stunning contemporary sculpture park. Be mesmerised by the permanent sculptures scattered across the 100 acres, tour the exhibitions, and stop for refreshments in the cafe.

One now for thrill-seekers; test your daring on the high wires at Go Ape Peebles (13.5 miles). It’s concealed inside Glentress Forest, which is also a hugely popular spot for both walkers and mountain bikers. Explore Pentland Hills Regional Park (13.5 miles) and there you’ll find the dry slopes of Midlothian Snowsports Centre (17 miles). Treat the whole family to skiing or snowboarding lessons, or have fun ‘tubing’ – sliding downhill on an inflatable ring. You can also take the chairlift to the top for spectacular views over Edinburgh.

Edinburgh (20 miles) boasts all kind of attractions, as well as a fantastic shopping and eating experience. On the outskirts of the city is the impressive well-preserved ruin of Craigmillar Castle (19 miles), as well as Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World (19.5 miles) and RZSS Edinburgh Zoo (25 miles). Inside the city, both Edinburgh Castle and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery are worth a visit.

From the isolated and peaceful Shetland Islands in the north to the thriving border towns and cities in the south, across wild mountains and serene lochs, and encompassing over 700 islands, Scotland’s rich and dramatic landscape simply must be seen to be appreciated. Scotland is home to the ten highest mountains in the UK – including Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak – and is bordered by three seas, offering epic scenery unlike any other you may have seen.

Whether you choose to explore the Highlands, lowlands or islands, lovers of the great outdoors will be thrilled by the stunning Scottish landscapes where some of the rarest UK wildlife can be glimpsed, including golden eagles, dolphins and whales. Take a road trip on the North Coast 500, Scotland’s version of Route 66, to experience the sheer beauty of the land’s wilderness or, as Scotland is the home of golf, either tee off at one of the 550 courses across parkland, heathland and links courses.

Scotland is also a land of unique culture where the people are renowned for their incredible warmth and hospitality. Experience the peaceful Isle of Lewis where Scots Gaelic is widely spoken, or immerse yourself in the cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen which are vibrant with thriving arts scenes, delicious restaurants and bustling nightlife. And no trip to Scotland is complete without exploring the castles and distilleries: learn about clan rivalries or bloody battles amongst 13th-century battlements or try a taste of Scotland itself during a tour of one of the 120 whisky distilleries. Pure Scottish culture in a glass.

With so many beautiful places to visit and things to experience, a break to Scotland should not be missed. Our fantastic Scottish holiday cottages will ensure a truly memorable getaway. Whether it’s a dog-friendly countryside cottage for two, or a vast and resplendent castle for the entire clan on a tranquil island, we have a holiday in Scotland to suit everyone.
