This charming cottage on Loch Linnhe is the perfect rural retreat for a family looking to enjoy the natural environment and enjoy a whole array of outdoor activities.

Tucked away on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and offering complete privacy is this traditional and quaint little house situated on a Highland working hill farm. Its setting is remote, wild and rugged and reflects what life is like in the countryside, on a true Highland farming estate. There are some fantastic walks on the estate, taking you along the shorelines of lochs, over hills and through forests and meadows whilst being able to take in the beautiful surrounding scenery.

This area of Scotland’s northwest coast is accessed by the Corran ferry and is wild and relatively untouched with lots to still discover and explore. This property provides the perfect base to do just that! From here you will be able to reach some of the most pretty and remote parts of west Scotland, knowing that you have this warm and comfortable house to return home to each day.

The accommodation is situated all on one level and feels homely and welcoming with its warm and inviting traditional soft furnishings. The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is light and spacious with a breakfast bar to entertain family and friends whilst you’re cooking dinner. This room offers a friendly family atmosphere with a woodburner to snuggle up around, warming your hands and toes after a day's exploring. As you walk down the hall there are two spacious double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, one twin bedroom and the family bathroom.

Outside the property you can sit and relax in your own private enclosed garden, overlooked only by the surrounding Highland wildlife and nature. With views towards Loch Linnhe and Garbh Bheinn you will be able to escape for hours just watching the natural beauty of the Highlands pass you by.

  • 3 bedrooms - 2 doubles, 1 twin
  • 1 en-suite shower room with WC, 1 family bathroom with bath and WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer
  • Washing machine and separate tumble dryer in utility room
  • Woodburner - with starter pack of logs included
  • Electric and heating included

  • Local shop and pub 4 miles
  • Arrival: 17:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £250 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £30. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Situated on the Ardnamurchan Peninisula, this property is perfectly placed to visit the most north westerly part of what Scotland has to offer. The location is stunning with glorious views towards lochs and mountains, giving you the encouragement and opportunity to get out into the wild outdoors.

The village of Ardour (3.5 miles) is a pretty little fishing village and the place where visitors can catch the ferry on and off the Peninsula. It has a small selection of shops and some lovely walks through the woodland of the Ardgour Estate. Just outside the village is a lovely sandy beach at Sallachan, perfect for a picnic and a dip in Loch Linnhe if you're feeing brave!

From Ardour you could catch the ferry and then drive up to Fort William (15 miles), a vibrant busy little town surrounded by some of Scotland's best known and loved mountains including Ben Nevis. It offers a huge variety of outdoor pursuits, restaurants, shops, bars and cafes to chose from, not to mention some of the most stunning scenery there is in Scotland.

Or why not catch a ferry over to the enchanting Inner Hebridean island of Mull with its incredible landscape to explore? Mull is the fourth largest of the Scottish islands and has miles of breathtaking coastline and is thriving with wildlife. If you are a nature lover then Mull is definitely a paradise island that you will treasure forever.

The cottage was in a beautiful location and was really cosy and comfortable, we couldnt have been happier with our overall experience. It was wonderful to watch the deer in the garden and grounds at the back of the cottage and throughout the local area. We would highly recommend Shepherds Cottage.

Great cottage but with the corran ferry not working it was a real pain especially not being able to get in the cottage until five which to my mind is far too late then finding the ferry not working it added an extra hour of driving to get to the cottage would have been nice to have been warned about the ferry

As far as peaceful and rural locations, you couldnt ask for more. The cottage is also very comfy and the kitchen is extremely well appointed (we are often disappointed by how badly some kitchens are equipped, so this was refreshing change!). Beds however were uncomfortable and recommend for anyone light sensitive to take blackout blinds as curtainsRead more ineffective. So long as youre prepared for lots of driving awesome day trips are possible to Mallaig, Fort William, Ardnamurchan, Glencoe etc. Hide

Stunning location and comfortable well-equipped cottage. On a practical note- it's quite a remote location, so be prepared to trek some way to attractions and stock up when you have the opportunity. Also the ferry across the loch costs 10 each way so worth factoring in. There are some beautiful places to visit and plenty of walking opportunities.
