A beautiful cottage which is located on a working farm. Perfect for couples to escape and enjoy stunning scenery just a short walk down to the coast.

Escape to this inviting cottage near Mochrum, approximately 2 miles from Port William, and lose yourselves in the magnificent sea views. A simply idyllic retreat for a couple, this one-bedroom cottage, which welcomes one happy hound as well as two guests, takes in sweeping coastal vistas towards the Isle of Man and Mull of Galloway. Walk along the clifftops and down to pretty beaches; look out for whales, seals and even dolphins. Return home to watch the sun go down over the sea and to gaze up at the stars as you warm yourselves beside the fire pit.

Make your way into this single-storey property, which is set within the grounds of the owners’ property but enjoys its privacy, to find an airy, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Pause for a while to look over your green surroundings towards the sea. Make fresh cup of coffee in the machine then settle down in front of the Smart TV to find your favourite television programme. Discover everything you need in the kitchen area to help you whip up romantic meals for two with the fresh Scottish produce you have bought on your forays. Dine together at the table or breakfast bar.

Come in from your star-gazing at night to enjoy a hot shower before heading off to bed. Make your way into the king-size bedroom for a comfortable night’s sleep. Find there is a door from here on to the covered veranda.

Enjoy your first cup of tea of the morning out here on fine days or head over to the enclosed garden for breakfast out in the fresh air. Light the BBQ and pick fresh fruit from the owners’ garden to enjoy back at the cottage. Find secure storage for cycles and other equipment at the holiday home, plus parking for one car.

Head into Port William to pick up supplies and enjoy a hearty, homecooked meal in a Scottish pub. For a wider selection of places to shop and eat, head to Wigtown, 9 miles away. While you are here, browse in the independent bookshops that together make this place known as Scotland’s book town.

Drive or walk 4 miles to Monreith, which has a long, sandy beach, with rockpools and caves. Venture 11 miles from the cottage to see St Ninian’s Cave, which featured in the 1973 version of the film the Wicker Man. It is said the saint lived here for a time as a hermit. Crosses can still be seen cut into the wall and early Christian carved stones, now displayed at Whithorn Priory and Museum, 8.5 miles from Mochrum, were found here.

Also worth visiting are the enchanting gardens at Galloway House, 11 miles away, near Garlieston. Set against the coastal backdrop, these gardens date back to 1740 and sit within more than 50 acres of landscaped parkland. From here, walk down to the seashore to spend time on the sandy beach or follow the coastal path to see dramatic Cruggleton Cliffs and the ruins of Cruggleton Castle.
