This stylish, contemporary apartment is a charming urban retreat in the heart of the vibrant, trendy neighbourhood of Stockbridge, in the north of the city of Edinburgh. With spacious, bright rooms and an ideal location in a quiet cobbled lane just off the main street of Stockbridge, this place could be your Scottish home away from home.

The property itself is a first-floor apartment, with a sociable open-plan area and balcony overlooking the cobbled street. Its subtly bright and modern interiors will show you the best of European city style.

Accessed via a flight of steps or elevator, enter into the heart of the flat, the open-plan living space. It’s a combination of a spacious and inviting living room, a sweet dining table, and a nifty little kitchen that sits beyond a partition. A TV and electric fire bring cosiness to the space, and a pair of French doors open out onto a balcony, which overlooks the historic Stockbridge street. The decor is fresh and calm but colourful. After a long day of exploring, head through to your comfy double bedroom, lovingly decorated, and with a reading area. The bathroom is next door and offers a shower above bath, so you can have a quick freshen up or a long soak, depending on how you feel.

If you fancy sitting in the fresh air and doing some people watching, head out to your balcony, or take the stairs or handy elevator to the outside, where you can join your neighbours in this friendly community.

The apartment is located in the quaint, popular area of Stockbridge, a place with its own atmosphere and intrigue but close to the heart of Edinburgh's more well-known streets. Just a hundred metres from the apartment sits the main street of the neighbourhood, where traditional pubs, hip eateries, and independent shops are just some of the attractions on offer.

You could also take the scenic route and stroll beside the Water of Leith, through Inverleith Park. Here, you'll find fascinating extra delights like a duck pond and the popular natural spot of the Royal Botanic Garden, with indoor and outdoor displays, manicured and wild gardens, and lovely places to eat and drink. If walking is your thing, you can continue following the Water of Leith and discover a trail of hidden walking and cycling paths that extend around the city, even taking you up to the seaside and port communities of Leith and Newhaven.

Once you've befriended the Stockbridge locals, head into the heart of the city. Princes Street, Edinburgh's mammoth shopping road, begins just 1.5 miles away. From here, you can check out the stunning historical landmarks that are scattered across the city, including the Scott Monument, the Royal Mile, and Edinburgh Castle.

Good flat Well equipped Great location Some street noise at night especially at weekends. Some noise from flat above with squeaky floorboards but I would imagine that the whole building is the same due to age! Generally good all round though!

We had a lovely stay at this brilliantly located comfy flat. Very thoughtfully arranged, books and dvds provided, really nice decor. We were impressed that the owners had taken the trouble to respond to comments in their visitors books and make improvements suggested.
