Situated in Cannich village, you are no more than a few hundred yards from the local pub, eateries and Post Office. Stock up on goodies for feast nights at home or treat yourself to an expertly spun repast in the village. Outside of Cannich, you will find a number of inns and restaurants serving food dotted around Loch Ness, some offering great views over the water.

Speaking of the loch, a 12.5-mile drive will take you to the world-famous Loch Ness, where a whole host of activities await. Try your hand at kayaking, sailing, swimming or go for a scenic boat cruise and keep your eyes peeled for the famous Loch Ness Monster! If you're more of a dry land kind of person, stick to the paths around the loch and stretch your legs with a brisk walk around the Loch Ness Trail.

Only 15.5 miles away, you will come to Urquhart Castle. Boasting over 1,000 years of history, Urquhart Castle was once one of Scotland's largest castles and saw great conflict during its 500 years as a medieval fortress. These days, it provides a fascinating glimpse into the area's past, not to mention an incredibly beautiful spot to sit and admire the scenery, especially with a picnic in tow.

The lodge has a lovely outlook across the valley in a quiet and peaceful location. It is very comfortable and welcoming. Close to a well stocked village shop. The beds were very comfortable and the lodge is wooden and therefore warm. The 3 dogs were made welcome and enjoyed their stay as much as we did. A good central location for walking and exploRead morering, particularly up Glen Affric, which is a wonderful remote glen. Hide

Lovely cabin with comfy furniture and bed and well equipped kitchen. Pub/restaurant on doorstep but it wasn't open through the week. Enclosed garden so we didn't have to worry about the dogs escaping, there were even treats for them on arrival.

The slope down to cabin from pub car park meant you couldnt just keep nipping to the car with bags, and made it unsuitable for people with mobility impairments. Garden fence could do with being 6 taller at least. Bedrooms very small, in main bedroom we had to move the bed to get to the window to open it. Food from pub either eaten in or takeaway waRead mores excellent, owners friendly and helpful. Hide
