Property code: 37116

One-of-two delightful cottages sleeping four guests, offering a private hot tub, situated on the owner’s Northumbrian farm, just seven miles from the bustling seaside town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Wonderfully located for exploring both English and Scottish countryside, this cosy cottage on the rural border is a great space to rest and recuperate. Found on the grounds of the owner’s home, a friendly face and expert guide are always close by. The home comfortably sleeps four friends or a small family, and it stands alongside another cosy cottage if two families want to holiday together.

Neutral shades, bright pastels and lovely floral soft furnishings create a homely and welcoming atmosphere. Feel instantly settled into this family property and make yourselves comfortable throughout your stay. Whilst entirely modernised, this home is still a traditional period property and boasts original vaulted ceilings on the first floor, adding to the overall charm of the place.

When you arrive, feel free to head straight into the utility room, where you’ll find a washing machine and plenty of space to store muddy boots and outerwear. This modern home has a well-equipped, contemporary kitchen with handy breakfast table. Evening meals can be enjoyed together in the open-plan lounge/diner, where large windows let light flood into the spacious room and offer far-reaching views of the farm and beyond. After dinner, collapse onto a cushy sofa and while away an evening watching TV or simply discussing your holiday plans.

Upstairs you’ll find two cosy bedrooms and a well-appointed family bathroom to share. Both bedrooms are kept simple and unspoilt, ideal for letting you unpack and make yourselves at home. The double bedroom is a cosy master room, whilst the twin is spacious and boasts remarkable views from the window. Both bedrooms have sloping cottage ceilings and therefore some reduced head-height.

Find a pretty enclosed garden to the rear of the house, and host an excellent summer party with outdoor seating, handy BBQ and the added luxury of a private hot tub.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin Bathroom
  • Bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC
  • Lounge with TV/DVD
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Kitchen with Oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine
  • Electric, and heating included
  • Private hot tub
  • Enclosed Garden
  • 2 dogs welcome at additional cost
  • Arrival 4pm
  • Ample private parking

Popular Scottish past times include fishing and golf, and both of these are well-catered for throughout your stay. Acquire a local permit and head to the bustling River Tweed (3 miles), where brown trout and salmon are common catches, or perhaps to Whiteadder Water (4 miles) for sea trout. Golfers will find an impressive seven golf clubs or driving ranges within 15 miles, including an 18-hole championship course in the coastal town of Eyemouth (15 miles).

Take a trip 20 miles to the coastal Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, enjoying a walk along the causeway to the Holy Island to view undisturbed local wildlife. Enjoy a trip to the picturesque fishing village of St Abb's (14.5 miles) for a coastal nature reserve awash with rugged cliff faces and excellent bird watching. Hug the coast and walk or cycle down to nearby Eyemouth, enjoying the remarkable views as you go.

You may be in the area for a trip to the races, and the nearby Kelso Racecourse is a popular spot for regular horse racing day outs. This spot is just 16 miles away by car and offers regular events throughout the year.

For a busier day out, visit Berwick-upon-Tweed (8 miles) and find plenty to see and do. Explore local castle ruins or learn more about the area's rich history at the museum and art gallery, or perhaps enjoy a show at the town's performing arts centre before enjoying a meal or a few drinks out on the town.

I thought the cottage was one of the best equipped self catering properties I have stayed in. The welcome pack on arrival was a great surprise and enjoyed by us all! The hot tub was great as well and my children loved sitting in there in the dark. I would definitely visit again. The location was ideal for travelling too.
