A fabulous two-bedroom city-centre property, perfect for exploring the museums, galleries and historic buildings in this Highland city that blends ancient history with modern living.

Escape to this gorgeous top floor apartment set upon the River Ness. This split-level property is full of quirky interiors that exude elegance. The apartment sleeps four in two large bedrooms where one carries a beautiful tartan theme that the owner designed herself. The owner's personal touches are what make this property stand out from any other; the delicious shortbread and decanter of local whisky on offer when you arrive makes you feel welcome.

Set across two levels, this is the perfect base for an exciting city break. On the lower level is the first king-size bedroom and shower room. This bedroom is a romantic space with an elegant and timeless iron bed frame and rooftop views of the city. Making your way to the upper level, you'll find the second bedroom, living area and kitchen. A distinctive feature of the property is the large window in the living room, offering spectacular views of the river and cathedral next door - you may even see a wedding or two during your stay! You could sit here for hours on end watching the world go by, or keep yourself amused by becoming engrossed in a board game or a good book. The contemporary kitchen contains modern appliances to cook up a storm, with the spacious hallway doubling up as a dining area. The luxurious second bedroom features a super king-size bed which is zip-linked and can be split into twins if needs be. There are cosy slippers for you to wear if you so wish that are stored in the 'boot store' at the door; a lovely touch to encourage you to feel at home whilst enjoying your break.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 super king zip and link (can be made as a twin on request)
  • 1 shower room with WC
  • Gas central heating, all energy included

Step out of the apartment and explore the city of Inverness, where there are lots of things to do from the doorstep. Vibrant restaurants and fashionable wine bars line each side of the river, so there are plenty of places to spend the evening and enjoy city life. Eden Court Theatre is also within a mile of the property so you can see a show or film and then enjoy the lively nightlife afterwards before making your way back. If that isn't your thing, there are numerous shops and cafes in the centre. Take a walk over the suspension bridges to the picturesque Ness Islands or visit one of the many historic castles within the city.

Of course, a trip to Inverness is not complete without a hunt for Nessie; Loch Ness is only 13 miles away. Here you can take in the dramatic scenery, partake in great adventure sports and explore nearby castles and solitary lighthouses. Discover 1,000 years of history at Urquhart Castle and appreciate remarkable views over Loch Ness from the ruins of the most magnificent medieval castle in the Highlands.

However you decide to spend your city break, this self-catering Inverness apartment is the perfect nest to come back to after a busy day of being out and about.

Warm welcome by Lynne, whisky and fudge, flowers and a personal postcard makes us feel like home. We loved the view from the window seat over the river Ness. At the end of the street there is a bakery for bread in the morning or just go to the kiosk along the river Ness. In Inverness there are enough restaurants and shops.

We like visiting Scotland by rail and this year decided to try Inverness. The Ardross Residence was a good choice - very well-appointed, clean and spacious accommodation with a grand view of the river and St Andrew's Cathedral. Inverness is compact enough to get around without a car, and the canal paths gave us all the exercise we needed. We were sRead moreo impressed with the Tropical House at the Botanic Gardens, and the wonderful Cobbs Cafe there, that we visited it four times. We only caught heavy rain once, but managed to dry off in the Tropical House. Other things we enjoyed were a boat trip on Loch Ness, a walk to Craig Phadrig fort, and a visit to the amazing Leakey's bookshop on Church Street. We had a delicious pancake lunch opposite Leakey's, and also enjoyed ice cream in the September sun at the gelateria next door to Wild Pancakes. We had one day out on the train, visiting Nairn and Elgin. A very enjoyable week, and I found just enough space left in my suitcase to take home an organic whisky to try out. One little irritation with Inverness - the traffic lights make pedestrians wait ages and ages to get across the road, so much so that you often wonder if the lights are malfunctioning, and dash across through a gap in the traffic.
