With wonderful sea views, this traditional cottage is the perfect base to explore, relax and enjoy the coast with loved ones. Originally a fisherman’s cottage, the property is just a short stroll from the nearest beach in the picturesque village of Findochty. Enjoy a refreshment on the harbour front, take a boat trip to spot the resident dolphins or simply relax on one of this area’s sandy beaches. After a busy day, return to this inviting bolthole for a family meal with a sea view in the kitchen/diner followed by a cosy evening in front of the open fire.

Inside, this welcoming cottage is homely and bright, with traditional decor and plenty of natural light. Cook up a storm in the light and airy kitchen/diner, where a delightful round table overlooks the ever-changing harbour outside. At the end of a long day spent exploring the local area, stoke up the open fire and settle in for a cosy night on one of the inviting armchairs or sofas in the lounge. Lose yourself in a good book from the shelf or hunker down in front of the TV/DVD. Climb the cottage style steep narrow stair case to the first floor, where you will find two delightful bedrooms, both boasting lovely sea views and spectacular sunsets with the Caithness hills in the background. A small study between the rooms is ideal for anyone inspired to start their novel while away or simply catch up on some work.

Step outside to the front of the cottage to be greeted by breathtaking sea views and the bustling harbour below. To the rear, a suntrap garden with tiered south-facing patio and table and chairs is perfect for al fresco dining during those long summer afternoons and evenings. A charming summer house offers a cosy nook for when the weather turns chillier.

Beach lovers will be spoilt for choice in the local area, with the nearby Findochty Beach less than half a mile from the front door and Sunnyside Beach just 7 miles away. Findochty itself is home to a popular pub and cafe, while a convenience store can be found in nearby Portnockie (6 miles). No visit to this area is complete without a boat trip to see the famous Moray Firth Dolphins and the stunning coastal scenery along the way, while those who prefer to stay on dry land might enjoy a round on one of the golf courses nearby. Whisky lovers should sample the delights of the Malt Whisky Trail, made up of a small collection of distilleries and other whisky sites. For family fun, visit the MacDuff Aquarium (19 miles) or head for the two outdoor bowling parks in nearby Buckie (3 miles). A small fishing town with a large harbour, marina and number of leisure facilities, Buckie is home to frequently spotted dolphins, otters and ospreys and also marks the start of the Speyside Way. Running all the way to Ballindalloch, this scenic route follows the River Spey to link the Moray coast with the edge of the Grampian Mountains, offering miles of spectacular walks.

Everything was top notch. Especially the kitchen is very well equipped. The owner has put a lot of thought into making this a perfect holiday home. The location is wonderful: The beach right at you door step, a nice pub/restaurant within walking distance, a beautiful harbour. Great place to explore the surroundings.
