An ideal spot for activities including angling, sailing and kayaking, Loch Linnhe is also known for its wildlife, with chances to spot seals, golden eagles, red deer, porpoises and dolphins. Featuring plenty of great pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes, Fort William is also home to attractions and landmarks including the West Highland Museum, Cow Hill Viewpoint, Old Inverlochy Castle and the Ben Nevis Distillery. The area has a number of exciting outdoor activity centres, perfect for trying your hand at white-water rafting, canoeing or gorge walking.

The bothy is set along the loch’s northern shore, with some beautiful sites and impressive peaks for keen walkers, climbers and bikers to explore, including Ariundle Oakwood National Nature Reserve, Sgurr Dhomhnuill, Creach Bheinn and Garb Bheinn (all within 17 miles). From Port Appin (28 miles) you can take a ferry out to the beautiful island of Lismore, site of the Lismore Lighthouse and home to a range of wildlife including seals, peregrines and razorbills.

Lovely place with an amazing view of the loch and mountains. This is quite an isolated area, therefore one should bring lots of supplies. As the ferry crossing from Glencoe has not been working for a while, it does add another one and a half to the journey, going up to Fort William, then across towards Mallaig, then single track road down to ArdgouRead morer. Despite the very long journey, it was a great break with amazing scenery, and a very comfy bed for the night. Hide
