This delightful, semi-detached cottage occupies a remote location on the unspoilt West Coast of Scotland, offering guests the opportunity to go off-grid and appreciate the simpler things in life such as stunning scenery and wonderful wildlife. With no phone signal or Wi-Fi, you will have little choice but to sit back and relax. Overlooking the beautiful Loch a Chadh-fi, the views are breathtaking and the sunset is spectacular on a clear night. Despite its isolated position, you are only 7.5 miles from the small, fishing village of Kinlochbervie, where the hotel offers meals. You also have the choice of eating out at the Rhiconich Hotel (3.5 miles). With endless walking opportunities on your doorstep, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Other activities are also available such as climbing, cycling and fishing (permits can be obtained from the owner).

This lodge-style cottage is accessed via some stone steps. On entering, you will appreciate how the exposed wood panelling creates a homely feel, whilst the exposed beams and stone fireplace add character. The lounge/diner is a good-size with panoramic views across the loch, whilst the wood burner is perfect for snuggling up in front of. The kitchen is modest, yet well-equipped, and has a utility area for washing muddy kit. Wall-hangings add rustic charm to the double bedroom, which is in keeping with the rural surroundings.

Outside, there is a garden which is shared with the owner’s friendly dog and a seating area where you can sit and immerse yourself in the view.

The main attraction in this area is undoubtedly the abundance of wildlife and natural beauty on offer. With rocky coastlines, unspoilt beaches, turquoise sea, vast lochs and distant mountains, you will not tire of the wonderful scenery, whether you're exploring it on foot, on wheels or from behind the lens of a camera. In particular, Oldshoremore beach (9.5 miles) is worth a visit and there's a circular walking route from here taking in the interesting coastline and hidden bays. The most north-westerly village in British mainland, Durness, is 18 miles away which offers a wonderful setting for a range of activities. 5 miles south of the property in Ardmore, you'll find Ridgway Adventure which offers a bespoke range of adventures to suit your interest and ability.

The Uphouse was everything I had hoped for. The location was superb. The owners were delightful. A pity our dogs didn't see eye to eye but that's the way it goes sometimes. Perfectly situated as a base to visit Sandwood Bay and the surrounding area. If you want peace and quiet then this is definitely worth considering.
