An ideal getaway for couples seeking a cosy hideaway along the spellbinding south-western coast of Scotland, this lovely property is a wonderful base for exploring the beautiful countryside of Dumfries and Galloway.

As well as a bubbling private hot tub with mood lighting, this romantic single-level lodge also boasts a tranquil garden and a spacious open-plan living area with French doors allowing plenty of light to stream in.

Entering this tastefully furnished lodge you will find the spacious, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which makes a wonderful living space for you both to unwind in, with French doors opening onto the garden. With sumptuous seating, Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker, the lounge is a lovely space to snuggle up together to watch a movie or chat into the night. The charming dining area is perfect for sharing a romantic meal which you can rustle up in the elegantly designed kitchen. Exploring this property further, there’s a peaceful king-size bedroom with a Smart TV, ample storage space, French doors leading to the garden, and an invigorating en-suite bathroom.

From the French doors, you can step through to the mature and partially enclosed garden. Here you can sit back and relax, and take in the magnificent coastal scenery of Sandyhills Bay. The large patio area has a BBQ and outdoor furniture, providing a lovely spot for dining alfresco in the evening. You can also luxuriate in the sheltered hot tub and spend a night stargazing. Nature lovers will be able to spot an array of wildlife visiting the garden, with chances to spot badgers, deer, rabbits and squirrels.

The well-named Sandyhills Beach is less than half a mile away, and provides a secluded spot for picnics, sunbathing and paddling. The beach also has a handy seasonal shop and cafe. The lodge is close to a popular country pub and Bainloch Deer Park, with other local attractions including Colvend Golf Club and Mares Braids Waterfall (all within 2 miles).

There are plenty of other gorgeous beaches nearby including Castle Point (3.5 miles) and Southerness (6 miles), while wildlife fans can head to RSPB Mersehead (4 miles), a beautiful wetlands site with chances to spot barnacle geese, lapwings and skylarks.

The area offers miles of fantastic walking routes, forest trails and coastal paths, while cyclists and mountain bikers can follow the popular 7Stanes route at nearby Dalbeattie (6 miles). Other local landmarks and attractions include Drumcoltran Tower, Almorness Point, Orchardtown Castle, Criffel Summit and the spectacular Drumburn Viewpoint (all within 13 miles).

Known as the Granite Town, the thriving town of Dalbeattie (7 miles) has plenty of great places to eat and drink, as does the historic 18th-century market town of Castle Douglas (13 miles). A designated Food Town, Castle Douglas has a wealth of fantastic cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops offering a wide range of local produce, and is home to the annual Stewartry Agricultural Show. Just outside Castle Douglas are Carlingwark Loch, the medieval Threave Castle and the magnificent Threave Garden and Estate.

A first class holiday home that we would definitely go back to. Great walks for the dog and everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Fantastic views and lovely to watch the wildlife in the garden each day. Hot tub was excellent.

Treetops is totally beautiful , the interior will take your breath away and I would recommend it to everyone. The setting is fabulous and the icing on the cake is the abundance of wildlife literally outside of the window. We stayed here for 7 nights from 15-22 September 2023. It was perfect, very relaxing, quiet and comfortable. The decor is beautiful with high standard finishes and the cleanliness when we arrived was outstanding. There is plenty of wild life in the garden (birds,rabbits and a badger at night.) we had plenty of walks on the beach and in the woods. IRead moret was just perfect and exactly what we wanted. We had a really enjoyable week at the Treetops Retreat. This really is high-end dog friendly accommodation. The retreat is accessed through the Barend holiday lodge site, but is surrounded by established woodland and very quiet and private. The owners live upstairs in the upper floors of Barend House and are really friendly and helpful. Great placeRead more to chill out. Fantastic property, beautifully furnished, extremely well equipped and a very high standard of cleanliness. The owners were lovely and welcoming too , but the icing on the cake was the location, views, peace and quiet and an abundance of wildlife visiting the garden. Wow! Already re booked for next year.

Wonderful cottage in a fantastic location. Hot tub was an added bonus after all of our hiking. Cracking for the dogs too (2 x German Shepherds) Would certainly return.

We arrived early evening & the house was warm with a beautiful welcome hamper & to my surprise to then find our dogs very own welcome hamper which included bowls, balls, treats, towels & blanket. From the moment we arrived at Treetops we felt welcome and relaxed. The Christmas tree lights were twinkling, the cottage was warm and there was a basket of treats waiting for us. The location is perfect and the view, out over the garden to the sea, is wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this peaceful, cosy cottage.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Treetops. The cottage was beautiful with everything you could need, the owners supplied a much appreciated welcome pack and milk in the fridge for our arrival. The location is perfect with a stunning garden and fantastic views. We spent some days exploring the forest walks and the beach which is only a 10 Read moreminute walk away. This place was top class and the owners were very nice. Bruce was very knowledgeable about the area for nice walks to places to eat. There was plenty nature going about the garden, from the rabbits and lots of different types of birds, including a lesser spotted woodpecker, we even saw the badgers after Bruce suggested to put out some bread. The location was very peaceful and great for nature lovers. Whilst only half a mile from the beach it is more suited to active individuals rather than elderly persons with mobility issues as it is situated at the top of a steep hill. The owners are very helpful.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Beautiful accommodation with stunning views and lovely garden. Very friendly and helpful owners. Had some lovely walks around the area too. We hope to revisit soon and would recommend Treetops without hesitation.
