Charming detached wonderful stone built Victorian cottage located in an idyllic rural village setting with fully enclosed gardens and lovely roaring wood burner, perfect for a cosy romantic retreat.

Discover the beauty of Scotland when you stay at this chocolate-box cottage in the scenic village of Appletreehall, 2 miles from Hawick. Sleeping three guests, and also welcoming one canine companion, the inviting, two-bedroom Victorian abode offers inviting accommodation all on one level. From here, explore the surrounding area of the Scottish borders, pick up the Southern Upland Way about 15 miles from the cottage and enjoy your proximity to the colourful town of Hawick.

Let yourselves into the detached stone cottage and wander from the hall into the airy lounge/diner. Stoke up the wood burner in here on chilly nights, find your favourite programmes on the TV to enjoy and decide how to spend the following exciting day of your Scottish break.

Unpack the fresh Scottish produce you have bought in Hawick and prepare a tasty meal in the kitchen for everyone to sit down to at the table in the lounge/diner. Discover you have a utility room with handy washing machine for throwing in muddy clothes after long walks.

As night falls, lay your head in in either the double bedroom or the single. Awake to enjoy a hot shower before cooking a hearty Scottish breakfast to see you through the day.

While away afternoons in vibrant Hawick, browsing in its interesting shops and choosing where to eat out on occasion. Those with an interest in knitwear will find the outlets here especially interesting as the town is famously on Scotland’s Textile Trail. Visit the Borders Textile Towerhouse in the town to find out more about Hawick’s history in this area, while the Hawick Museum and Scott Gallery offer a more general look at the area’s past.

Have a day out to Floors Castle, 21 miles away, where you can tour the magnificent building, which dates back to 1721, and wander the immaculate gardens. Thirlestane Castle, 25 miles away, also makes a great day out.

Find lots of picturesque walks in the area. See Wolfcleugh Waterfall, 16 miles from the cottage, set within the magnificent Craik Forest where you can follow leafy footpaths, with different routes available for walkers of varying abilities.

Drive 17 miles down to the border with England to explore Whitelee Moor National Nature Reserve or 26 miles to the Kielder Forest Park. Here you can walk or cycle along different paths and trails, looking for wildlife, including ospreys, and spending time on the shores of the reservoir.

White Cottage is a lovely recently refurbished cottage in a quiet situation but with very easy access to Hawick and the other Scottish Border Towns. The very friendly owners ,who live next door have thought of everything and supplied everything. There is a dedicated small private garden ,complete with garden furniture and plenty of lovely birdlife Read more. All in all ,this is one of the best holiday cottages that we have ever stayed in .
