Description

Hallin is a beautiful little community in Skye’s north west peninsula of Waternish with unspoilt sea views to the north to Ardmore Bay and south to Loch Bay, the inner isles Isay and Mingay and beyond to the Western Isles.

This former Hebridean croft has been upgraded to offer comfortable holiday accommodation, including a sun lounge but without losing any of its warmth and charm, and is the perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet this area offers. The bubbling burn, the birds on the wind, the countryside with its animals and that wonderful sea breeze. It is also the perfect base to explore the island.

After a day's touring, you can enjoy an evening in front of the open fire or better still, a seat in the sun lounge to enjoy the ever changing sea views. With the outstanding craggy coastline and the many glorious sunsets to be enjoyed, 11 Hallin Park is an excellent self catering holiday cottage providing the perfect base from which to explore the magical Isle of Skye.

Fantastic property. Great location, stunning views excellent value for money. The cottage has everything you need. We had 2 dogs and the garden was great for them, secure fenced area. The only negative was that the main gate doesn't fit fully to the posts leaving a gap which our dogs tried to escape through. This meant we had to stand guard to ensure they didn't escape. Would definitely stay here again. Can also recommend the gin school at the isle of skye distillers in portree. Unique experience to make your own gin.
    Mrs Hunt - October 2018
Views spectacular. Lovely and quiet. Cottage is easy to find and stocked with everything that you could possibly need.
    Mr Rees - August 2018
    The view is beautiful.
    Mrs Chiu - June 2018
Our review was significantly helped by the weather with 25 degree heat for the entire duration of our visit! The charming cottage in Hallin Park was very much part of this trip which was great value for money. In a great location with beautiful views of the Peninsula, all the amenities and comfort you would need and a fenced garden which was ideal for my two dogs. I would highly recommend a cottage this cottage for anyone looking for a comfortable enjoyable stay with stunning views.

I wants to thank everyone who helped me to spend my holidays in such a wonderful place. I am very pleasantly surprised at the cottage nothing was missing,a well-equipped house, quiet and peaceful with beautiful views.
    Mr Piatek - May 2018
I loved almost everything about this cottage. The rooms were cozy, the kitchen was functional and the view was superb. That said, I have a few suggestions. This place needs a better sign. A lot of the self-catering cottages in town had signs visible from the road. This one didn’t. You had to really hunt for the address, which was on the fence. Also as Americans we weren’t sure how the furnace worked. More instructions would be nice.

    Mr Matuszewski - August 2017
Sorry but my english is really too bad, so i write in french ... TRANSLATION: Rainy arrival but discovery of this superb cottage located in a very calm environment and especially with a magnificent view on the sea and the surrounding odds. Spacious rental (we were only 2) and really comfortable with a large kitchen, a room with queen beds and especially the lounge where you could spend hours gazing at the scenery. Despite a rainy weather and especially windy, we could still visit the area (Dunvegan Castle and Coral Beach with its seals) and especially to make superb excursions on the island (Pointe de Waternish, Cuillins, Quiraing, Neist Point - the most beautiful of all - Uig, etc ...) I thank again the site "walkhighlands" for all its precious directions! As for our stay in Inverness, it's always too short, we'd still like to stay. So we will have to come back !!
    Mr Tabarant - June 2017
If great views & low price are your 2 drivers, then this property will work for you. It covers the basics, but is without frills. It could easily be 'plushed' up & charge a lot more, but if you are looking for somewhere pretty cheap n cheerful without swanky TVs etc. then stay here. Who wants to watch tv when on Skye anyway!?
Mr Murray Lindsay - June 2017
We spent a wonderful week with our two children at 11 Hallin Park. The cottage had everything we needed and we very much enjoyed the fantastic views to the Outer Hebrides from the sun lounge. The evenings around the fire were very cosy. 11 Hallin Park is a good location for hiking and birdwatching. Golden Eagles were soaring above our heads when we went for a walk nearby.
    Mrs Fleckenstein-seifert - April 2017
This was a lovely basic little cottage, it had everything I needed as a base camp to come back to after exploring. Views were amazing from sun room, was quiet and had lots of little walks right out the door. I managed to see an Eagle, Northern lights and so many beautiful stars just in the back garden. Its not far to go to Dunvegan castle and I spent a lot of time around there watching the seals and going down to the coral beaches. Was a lovely open fire to curl up in front of in the evening but just wish was a sofa instead of chairs so could snuggle up bit more. Bed was a little hard for me but on the whole would definetly stay there again.
    Miss Nicholls - October 2016
Comfortable, homely cottage in a lovely quiet location with stunning view. The house had everything that was needed for our weeks stay, the only thing that could be handy would be to have a hairdryer as this was the one thing I forgot to pack!! We would love to come and stay again
    Miss Forbes - July 2016
The house is a simple modern house, with plenty of space for four to six people. Its spot on the Watrnish Peninsula makes for beautiful views across the sea and Minch. The rooms are simply furnished but with all the essentials needed for an extended stay out here in Skye. The kitchen was our favourite as we could all gather, chat and cook together in it. Thankfully, it was also wll suplied with all the necessary utensils and equipment to make our meals. It was funny to see a tiny tiny TV in the living room with Sky Satellite connection, but it came in handy on a rainy rainy evening.
    Dr Jaramillo - June 2016
The llocation was good but the house was quite neglected oldish beds and old furnishings Quite expensive for the standard and surprised with an agency like yours will not book again and probably not with your agency. Needed painting and new furnishings
Owners Response: "Response from Cottages & Castles: We always welcome feedback and take note that you prefer directions to be posted - we can readily do this. We are sorry to learn that you felt this house was not up to the expected standard. It is described as being "comfortable" and priced to reflect this. Skye is always immensely popular so demand means houses are sometimes higher than in other parts of Scotland. Certainly the house has been well reviewed by previous tenants but we all have different preferences and expectations but clearly we did not meet your particular expectations this time. It is a shame that you feel you cannot book with us again, we would welcome a call if you change your mind so that we can ensure we find you a perfect house."
    Mrs Sims - June 2016
Had a brilliant 2 weeks on the isle of skye. Would highly recommend the cottage. It is warm and cosy with stunning views. Enjoyed dunvegan castle and the fairly lakes. Stein is a good place to eat. Lots of nice long walks to enjoy. Will be going again.
    Mr Barnes - April 2016
Enjoyable stay at the cottage which was perfectly situated for exploring Skye and getting a few mountain bike outings and walks. The cottage was well kept with everything you require and has boardgames books and walking maps. The internet access was faster than we experience in the countryside near our town in southwest Scotland. The area was also a dark sky area so we had a late night to just stare at the stars. The view from the sun room is amazing and each night we would sit watching the sun setting with a drink. Although the distance to the cottage was around 7 miles from the main road it was easy to travel each day. We were lucky it was sunny everyday so the views were amazing, unfortunately I cannot comment on bad weather or as us Scottish call it "normal weather". The midges were friendly and visited when you were outside, this explained when there were no garden furniture our outside seats, the midges weren't too bad compared to other places and if there was a breeze you were able to sit outside. Overall I would stay there again for a break as it was one of the best cottages I have stayed in.
    Mr Mitchell - August 2015
Loved 11 Hallin Park! Great location, great cottage, lovely views. lots of lovely local walks, Didn't see much wildlife but did hear a Corncrake just up the road at Trumpan. Loved all the local produce available around Waternish with honesty pots (eggs, cakes, cheese). Inn and seafood restuaraunt in Stein pretty good. A bit dissapointed with the seafood platter at the Lochbay (pricey for what we were served!) however the portions and choices on the regular menu looked good and other customers appeared very satisfied so would go back.
    Mr Gillespie - May 2014
Lovely bungalow in great location with scenic views. Description of "nearby fish restaurant and Inn" a little bit exagerated as not really near by.. you need a car so nothing you can actually walk to, not even a pub. The property was really well equipt which was a wonderful surprise as we were told it would be basic and very warm too. Only critisism was that the second bedroom was not made up so we had to to this ourselves and also there is no shower which is inconvenient. THANK YOU
    Ms Colvin - June 2013
This cottage was in a fantastic location with stunning views. I did feel the cottage could have done with a bit of TLC. I know it was the end of the summer season when we stayed but I expect customers should have the same standard of "Freshness" whatever time of the year they visit. There were visible damp patches on the walls in the sun room and a lot of dust on lamp shades and skirting boards were pretty grubby. It was however the escape we needed, from the busy lives my husband and I lead. It was a tonic to see the "Dark" sky and look out across the sea to north Uist, watch the birds and the ever changing weather. The Isle of Syke has many tourist attractions which over several visits we have had the pleasure of visiting/enjoying. The oldest pub in Watternish "The Stein Inn" was a short drive away and well worth a visit - a decent menu. We had a fantastic meal in "The Three Chimneys" restaurant - expensive but worth every penny - fresh, local, beautifully cooked produce. Would advise food lovers visiting the Island to book a table. Sadly like all holidays it had to end but I'm proud to say that our small country has some of the most fantastic scenery in the world and next year we'll explore further north or some of the other Islands we've yet to discover.
