    4 Viewbank Gardens reviews
A quaint cottage in a wonderful location. We could walk into Pitlochry in under 5 minutes. The views from the front garden are spectacular, along Strathtay. Pitlochry has loads of attractions and offers great food from a number of pubs and restaurants. Live music at some of the pubs and the wonderful theatre provides great entertainment. As we had our Labrador with us the excellent walks into the hills, forests, lochs and rivers were amazing, and ranged from easy to challenging. Viewbank is a wonderful holiday cottage, that fully suited our needs.
    Mr Hanna - August 2019
Stayed at the cottage for a week with hubby grandson and 2 dogs. First impressions weren’t good. Parking really not ideal but nothing can be done about that. The cottage is very very dated. It’s definitely in need of a make over to freshen paint work carpets. The cottage is spotless and although the furniture is old it’s comfortable. The beds were really comfortable. Kitchen had everything you need. A few more towels ,dish clothes would be useful. I wouldn’t say the cottage suitable for 4 adults as the smaller bedroom has a single bed with a pull out bed under it not ideal for an adult maybe just kids. I certainly wouldn’t have been comfortable Garden at back was fine. Front garden had a beautiful view but again needs a bit of TLC hubby wanted to cut the bushes but I said no. Great location all be it steep hill on way back but 3 mins your in the town which is lovely. Good few eating places coffee shops. Fish n chips from The Plaice to be are delicious had them twice. Would I go back to the cottage most def even though at first I thought it was like stepping back in time like staying in your great grannies house.
    Mrs Henderson - June 2019
This was my third time in this lovely house which feels like a real home. It is so comfortable and central in the town and has easy access to the nearby shops and transport links. The views from the house are out of this world and the terrace is a delight for sitting out on and having a meal on. The sitting room is comfortable and has a great view and lots of facilities including wifi and a sound and dvd system. The kitchen is welcoming and well equipped - if you want something you will find it - with a large table. The bathroom has both a bath and shower and is nicely arranged. The main bedroom looks out over the strath and gives a magnificent view for miles - with the two chairs you can happily sit by the window of an evening and enjoy the changing skies - and the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. There's also a nice smaller bedroom. Pithlochry itself has a variety of attractions - it's worth mentioning the Explorers' Garden (by the Festival Theatre) with its lovely, lovely plants and vistas, and the Pitlochry and Moulin Heritage Centre as well as an interesting little museum at the Atholl Palace. You can go for a run up the valley on the number 87 bus which among other places goes to Blair Castle and Bruar Falls (and House of Bruar). There's also the option of bus or train to lovely Dunkeld with its beautiful cathedral and river and the magnificent Birnam oak on the other side of the river. If you need a touch of city life, there's Perth half an hour by train with good shops and some great museums. Be aware that the steps to the house and the stairs inside could be challenging for anyone with mobility issues.
    Mrs Minto - June 2019
Everything you need in super location. Parking is fine tight to the hedge with plenty of room for large vehicles to pass on quiet road.
    Mr Mason - April 2019
This cottage was superb. Very well equipped with lots of little extras. The kitchen was very well stocked with various extra items left for newcomers to use. Also on arrival we were welcomed by lovely fresh flowers, tea/coffee and sugar and a wee pint of milk in the fridge and not forgetting the Cadbury Chocolate Fingers! Very nice touch. The cottage itself although it has dated interior it is fitting to the 'cottage theme' it's like visiting Granny! So cosy, very clean and comfortable. The location is simply stunning, very handy for various dog walks in the area and for the golf course near-by. The view from the upstairs main bedroom is fantastic. The view over Pitlochry, down the valley towards the A9, is gorgeous. We especially enjoyed the various local fireworks on Hogmanay night, which we watched from this window with a wee cuppa and wee glass of something sparkly! There were 3 of us, 2 x adults and 1 child age 12 and of course 1 dog. We all had the best break in this cottage. Would thoroughly recommend and hope to return very soon.
    Mrs Preston - December 2018
A lovely cosy cottage with all the home comforts, convenient for shops, restaurants and theatre with numerous coffee stops on the way, we'll book again.
    Mr Mays - November 2018
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the accommodation at 4 Viewbank Gardens in Pitlochry. Beautiful view from front garden and the cottage was excellently equipped with kitchen utensils hoover etc. TV stations was free view type and was suitable for our needs. Double bed was fine and single beds was a bed with an additional pull out which we did not require. The only problem we found was the steps down to the cottage which was slightly problematic as I use a walking stick but it was negotiable if I took my time. The back garden was slopped but we did not require to use it. The cottage itself was situated near town centre and close to shops but again on a hill but easily accessible by walking or car. The reception by caretaker/keyholder was excellent and the flowers and milk butter eggs etc was much appreciated. All in all a throughly enjoyable stay and we plan to return in future.
    Mr Fanning - August 2018
Absolutely everything you could want is in the kitchen, fitted out with quality equipment. Comfortable chairs in the sitting room and very pretty bedrooms. Only one minor fault is the bed is against the wall so not easy getting in if like us you are in your 80's. Loads of places to visit close by and very good food at The Victoria Resturant. The sun shone and we had a marvellous week.
    Mr Vessey - June 2018
This is a great house in a perfect location. It's elevated spot means you get great views and you don't feel like your surrounded by houses. It's like stepping back in time but that adds to the charm of the cottage. It's very cosy and clean and has everything you need. Pitlochry is lovely and the black spout walk from the house is recommended followed by a drink in the pub! With easy access to the A9 it's ideal. Upon arrival we had some flowers, milk and biscuits which was very thoughtful. A great easter break!
    Mrs Clarke - March 2018
Really beautiful house, within a few minutes walk to main street of Pitlochry! Lots of room for us (2 adults & 2 children), everything in the house that you could think of needing while staying away for a few nights. Co-op at the bottom of the street too. Beautiful views over the town from the living room and main bedroom.
    Mrs Boyce - October 2017
A very charming cottage, very clean and well equipped. Tesco's at the end of the lane is very useful and 'The Plaice to be' for take away fish and chips is also very useful! In all we enjoyed four stays here but the children are now to big for the small second bedroom.
    Mr Chapman - August 2017
this as our 5th time at this cottage and once again everything was nice clean and comfortable
    Mr Price - June 2017
My friend and I have stayed in Pitlochry many times but this was the first time we had stayed at 4 Viewbank Gardens. We would have no hesitation in staying there again. It was spotless and a nice touch was a vase of flowers awaiting us. The view from the garden was magnificent. We ate at our usual "haunts" - the Golf Clubhouse, Cafe Biba (on the main street) and the Moulin Inn all of which I would recommend. Joan and Hazel, Edinburgh
    Mrs Brodie - May 2017
Good value for money but a couple of the pubs and restaurants were a bit poor
    Mr Renicks - April 2017
Nice cottage offering all you need for a comfortable stay. Handy for local shops/pubs as well as many walks from the doorstep. The one problem we found was with the electric fire in the livingroom, where it was either on full blast (causing eyes to burn after a short time), or off completely and it was a little cool for sitting with it off. A happy medium would have been preferable. Other than this, all was good thanks.
    Mrs Purves - February 2017
A lovely, well equipped cottage. Only two minutes walk from the centre of Pitlochry and all the shops and restaurants. To be recommended to couples or small families. I'll definately will come back.
    Mr Gijsbers - September 2016
    Well appointed and fully equiped
    Mrs Mcwilliams - August 2016
Very close to amenities in Pitlochry and ideal for our needs that weekend. Decor possibly needing updated but everything worked and comfortable.
    Mr Ball - May 2016
This was my second stay at Viewbank Gardens. It's a lovely cottage with a great terrace overlooking the valley. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need and lots of space. The terrace has beautiful plants and a couple of bird feeders so you can feed the local birds. The view is wonderful - speciality this time was two amazing moonrises!
    Mrs Minto - June 2015
This is a great cottage. We have been several times and can't wait to come back again.
    Mrs Wright - November 2014
Lovely house very clean well presented, Would rate it 4.5 if we could!
    Mr Lang - July 2014
I always find booking by telephone an efficient and pleasant experience. The brochure is accurate and has all the information relating to a property that is required.
    Miss Dengate - June 2014
this is the third time at this cottage and as always we had a great time their cottage is well maintained and very well equipt
    Mr Price - June 2014
This was our 6th stay here! Love it! By the way, the coffee-maker leaks! Thank you.
    Mrs Bennett - May 2014
4 Viewbank Gardens is always clean and welcoming, a real home from home, the only fault and why we didn't give it a five star rating is because the shower is getting a bit tired, you have to chase the water to get wet.
    Mr Mays - November 2013
Very comfortable cottage, in a pretty location, lovely views, very clean and well equipped, Short walk into Pitlochry itself, which is a delightful, bustling Scottish town. Highlights of our week were our trip to Edinburgh, 90 minutes away by car, and also to Balmoral and Braemar. Pleasant evening of live music at McKay's pub and also fitted in a super show at Pitlochry Festival Theatre and a meal at the idyllic Moulin Inn. Only three things to improve upon. The details talk about a lay by outside the cottage to park the car, but it needs to be said it is just a slightly wider part of the road, on a bit of a bend, so not a lay by at all. Also the sitting room above all could do with a lick of paint and some updating. Thirdly, as a cottage where dogs are permitted, it comes as a bit of a shock that they are not allowed into the back garden. We had paid to bring our dog but had a change of plan and when we saw the back garden was out of bounds, we were very glad we hadn't! Having said this we had a fantastic holiday and just love Scotland.
    Mrs Ryan - June 2013
Lovely cottage all we could have asked fior and more, location god for all amenities, looking forward to next break, which l have just booked yehaa !!!
    Ms Simth - June 2013
Very clean and comfortable, ideal position for shopping and taking trips out.
    Miss Dengate - June 2013
4 Veiwbank Gardens, we have stayed here at least 8 times. Perfect location if you don't want to drive, it's within walking distance of train station and there's an excellent local bus service. E.g.Saturday we arrived by train from London, after shopping at co- op went for a relaxing walk to dam. Sunday breakfast at faskally boathouse then walk round loch. Monday after picking up packed lunch from deli, caught local bus to Dunkeld for walk to Loch of the Lowes bird reserve. Tuesday day out in Perth by train. Wednesday bus to Blair Castle for visit then evening meal at Victoria's. Thursday Lunch at Moulin Inn then evening show at Festival Theater. Friday lunch at Victoria's then sleeper train back home. Fantastic weather and holiday. We've driven up, we've flown up, had snow and rain it's always great. Thank you.
    Mr Mays - June 2013
We use this cottage becasue it is dog friendly, has a lovely view from an enclosed patio and we have relatives in Pitlochry so it is very convenient. The views are magnificent for a cottage in the centre of the town and we can walk everywhere. Some great dog walking areas, we haven't done half of them, and the theatre is always good for entertainment The cottage itself has everything we need, is always well kept and clean, and we noticed additional items to make our stay more comfotable. Would thoroughly recommend it to others.
    Mrs Mcclure - October 2012
Absolutely brilliant! Fifth visit! Thank you, again. The Bennett's Indiana, USA
    Mrs Bennett - May 2012
This is a gorgeous wee house with everything you could possibly want: anything you think you need you will find there. The views are unbelievable and you can spend a perfect evening sitting in the garden having dinner and looking out down the valley. Definitely somewhere to come back to.
    Miss Minto - September 2011
The house is warm and cosy, and very convenient for 2-3 people. Our only comment is with regard to mattresses - which seem quite old and weary, and are not comfortable.
    Mr Reif - July 2011
This is our families 3rd visit to Viewbank Gardens. I don't think I could stay anywhere else in Pitlochry, We will definetly come back again in a couple of years. It is the perfect location and the view from the bedroom is beautiful, wish we could have stayed longer than a week. Everything we need is there at the cottage. Love it!
    Mr Gray - June 2011
This cottage is a little dated in décor but other than that it is difficult to fault. Just a minute or twos walk to the centre of Pitlochry , it is a great location. On arrival we found a very clean and warm welcome and being February the heating being on was very much appreciated. The only real criticism I have is the rather uncomfortable suite in the living room. After a long days walking a more comfortable chair to collapse in would be welcome.
    Mr Cooper - February 2011
This is a comfortable and very clean cottage, with every thing necessary to make for a lovely holiday. The little touches, like fresh flowers, milk and tea and coffee, make it seem very welcoming after a long journey. It is conveniently situated within walking distance of shops and restaurants, and there are some wonderful walks and stunning views nearby, or within an easy drive away. We usually journey up by train, and then either hire a car, or travel on local transport if we want to go further afield. You certainly see more of the local area if you travel by bus! We highly recommend this property.
    Mrs Mays - October 2010
This is a nice property off the beaten track yet so handy for everything. If you are lucky enough to get the weather the small front garden looks out over the town and away down the valley. The house is comfortable and has all the necessary facilities and the location is handy for the supermarket and the town. Hirers should be aware that there is a bit of a hill to climb back up to the house. There is nearby parking but, you do have to tuck your car in.
    Mr Willett - September 2010
This is simply one of the best little cottages we have ever stayed in! We have stayed here five times, I think, and wll be back in 2012 for sure. It is close to the Festival Theatre, walks in the woods, and close to the CO-OP. No car is required- close to the train and buses. Love it!
    Mrs Bennett - May 2010
