These delightful newly built eco cottages are beautifully situated looking across the river and sea on the south east shore of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. It is hard to imagine a quainter, quieter or prettier location with its hamlets and villages, single track roads and unspoilt sea and landscapes. There is an ambiance here of the ancient ways of life with original crofts with their outlined “lazy beds”, standing stones and ancient churches. These islands have some of the most stunning beaches in the UK – miles of white, clean sand, clear turquoise water and few people. These self catering cottages are all within a short 15-20 minute drive from some of these spectacular beaches. Enjoy the perfect Beach holiday from these wonderful cottages.

You are close enough to the river mouth to hear the salmon splash and if you want to fish for salmon or trout there is a good choice and this can be arranged separately. Both golden eagles and sea eagles are regular sightings on these islands and for bird and wildlife lovers, both Lewis and Harris are wonderful. The history of these islands is everywhere – visit the 15th century Rodel Church or Standing Stones of Callanish for a mystical experience.

One of three beautiful, newly built holiday cottages on the sea shore. Set in a quiet and delightful part of the Isle of Harris with beautiful sea and river views, this cottage is both tranquil and luxurious. With a very stylish finish, the lodge has everything you could need to enjoy a holiday on this wonderful island. The rooms are light, spacious and beautifully furnished and there is easy and instant access to the sea and riverside.

Harris, joined to its neighbour Lewis, is the largest of the outer Hebrides and carries an ancient and fascinating history so exploring the island is both interesting and fascinating. There are also gorgeous beaches – think turquoise sea and white sands. Wildlife and birds are ever present. Make sure you visit the Standing Stones at Callanish – both fascinating and mysterious. The 15th century Rodel church is only 3 miles away at the Southern tip of Harris, nestling above the old harbour and Rodel Hotel. The cottages are associated with some good quality salmon, trout and sea trout fishing which can be booked by separate arrangement.

For Arran Cottage the start day for bookings is a Thursday.

Coll Cottage & Inver Cottage may also be available.

    Arran Cottage reviews
Fantastic location overlooking sea loch with the antics of a large seal colony providing constant entertainment. House is clean and generally comfortable, if a little tired. The kitchen equipment is a bit odd - bendy, poor-quality utensils and nothing in size between a medium-sized saucepan and an enormous pot big enough for porridge for 20! A small point, but first impressions count - the tatty dried flower "arrangement" is well past its sell-by date - chuck it out, people will understand if fresh flowers aren't available in this stunning but remote location.

Arran Lodge is a fantastic, warm, spacious lodge. It was a blessing to have such comfortable family accommodation after such an intense journey in such a remote part of the country. The scenery was beautiful, with plenty of walks and lochs for fishing, We particularly enjoyed our time with the local ghillie,, afternoon tea at the Skoon cafe and visiting Luskenstyre beach.
