Arrlochaira is a modern and extremely comfortable holiday house located between Killiecrankie and Pitlochry, and surrounded by the glorious Perthshire countryside. With top quality fixtures and fittings, a minstrel gallery and a double height ceiling, it provides a spacious light and airy space. Two sitting rooms and a well equipped dining kitchen together with a fully enclosed garden make this an ideal base for families to get together and enjoy each other's company in this perfect self catering holiday accommodation in Perthshire.

The house sits in a small hamlet just outside Pitlochry and only a short distance off the A9 - perfect to explore the delights of Perthshire and the Cairngorm National Park. Be aware of the railway to the north, a short distance behind the house; while you will occasionally hear it, judging by our reviews it is not too intrusive, and the house remains great value for money considering its location and quality.

Large sitting room with doors to garden; king-size bedroom with en-suite shower, separate WC and WHB; twin room, WC and WHB. Utility room. Very spacious kitchen/dining room.

First floor:

    Arrlochaira reviews
Had a great week here. The property was in good order and comfortable. Some people have mentioned the railway behind beeing a bit noisy but we hardly noticed it. And it certainly didnt have any affect on our holiday. Didn't go into pitlochry to much but the co-op in town has everything you need and there's a good fish and chip shop just next door.
    Mr Bickley - June 2019
Had a lovely week staying at Arrlochaira. House ideal with a bathroom for each bedroom. Very clean and spacious. Suitable for both of my elderly parents as 2 of the bedrooms are on the ground floor. The house is close to the A9 which is ideal for travelling further afield. Queen's View and Kinloch Rannoch only a short drive away. Just across the road from the house is a footpath that leads to the waters edge. Don't be put off with the closeness of the railway line as it is well hidden behind trees in the garden and only a few trains pass each day. Overall a lovely house, holiday and location.
    Mrs Turner - May 2019
This house was fairly modern with all the facilities needed to enjoy your stay. The only slight negatives were the main rail track at the back of the garden and the road at the bottom of the front garden. From inside the house the noise from the trains was audible but not overbearing. the main road was fairly quiet but at times there was speeding traffic which caused concern when trying to cross. The house garden was described as fully enclosed but there was areas where this wasnt the case. The house did not have wi-fi which i thought in this day and age should have been available for our stay. the positives were the surrounding areas such as Pitlochry, Faskally & Killiekrankie, there was some lovely riverside walks and easy access to the pebble beaches that run along the River. Overall a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful part of Scotland.
    Mr Mckinnon - April 2019
Our family spent a week over Christamas at Arrlochaira and loved every minute. The house is warm and cosy and very well equipped with everything needed for a family. The layout allows for everyone to spread out. There are great walks just across the road and the whole area is interesting with lovely places to explore.
    Mrs Walker - December 2018
This house is lovely and great for families to get together. The kitchen is well equipped and is has one of the best we have used. Having the upstairs lounge is very useful too as we were with elderly parents who went to bed early. The bathrooms are finished to a high standard although the showers arent very powerful. Lovely back garden to sit in, A bit noisey due to the house being inbetween roads and the railway at the back but this didnt spoil our stay.
    Mrs Waterson - July 2018
Spacious and clean - fitted our needs perfectly
    Mrs Brydon - May 2018
A great place to spend a week with family and friends. Beautiful location, lovely walks , good places to eat out .
    Mrs Nicol - December 2017
Arrlochaira was a fairly good standard of holiday let in an interesting area. We were disappointed with some aspects such as there not being a welcome pack in sight on entering the property. Once we settled in we found one underneath a pile of magazines under the coffee table. When found, it lacked any professionalism and could have done with being updated. The property generally felt cold even though we were visiting during the end of August and it felt as if the whole house needed airing. Luckily we had planned various activities throughout our stay which meant we were only at the property during the evenings. Had we also have been using the property during the day the garden would have also been very disappointing - the garden furniture needed updating and a barbecue would have been handy. Bed linen seemed very dated and needed updating. We were also very disappointed to find there was no toilet rolls or any hand wash in any of the 4 bathrooms on our arrival. It wouldn't have cost the earth to the owners to leave one roll and some hand wash, enabling us to have time to find a local shop to buy basics. We had some problems with the signal of the TV during our first evening and had to call the owners. They arranged for the caretaker to come out to repair while we were out at a local restaurant. All the beds except for those in the twin rooms seemed to be situated low to the ground - there was no depth to the beds but they were generally comfortable. There was adequate space for the whole family and having the two sitting rooms was great. It proved to be in an ideal location to go touring as it was in the middle of the Cairngorms National Park and within easy distance to many large towns/cities. It would also help this property quite a lot if arrangements to install Wifi was done. The nearby town Pitlochry was great with many cafes/restaurants and pubs and plenty of things to go and see and do. We were especially pleased to have dined at the Acarsaid Steak House. The meal and service for all 7 of us was fantastic. Even though I have some negative feedback in this review, overall we enjoyed our stay due to it's location and the fact that we wanted somewhere central to visit the areas we had arranged to visit and we would visit this property again, especially if the owners were to take some comments on board.
    Mrs Edwards - August 2017
Everything very nice We enjoyed it very much Car needed No wifi
    Mrs Veit - July 2017
Delightful home with a beautiful view of the hills, especially from the upstairs living room window. The property was extremely comfortable for 6 people. We would definitely rent this property again!
    Mrs Robitaille - July 2017
We had a great week staying at Arrlochaira, a great sized house for our party, and we were all very comfortable and relaxed. Pros - great sized kitchen - great location overall -a huge number of bathrooms! -plenty of parking - comfortable and homely Cons - no welcome book or info about the house or area - no curtains in some bedrooms so it's very bright - no where to put our rubbish, and an angry note from the neighbours when we arrived.. although this was quickly sorted by the owner. - no provision for infants Overall a wonderful property, but needs some smartening up and sprucing. Perfectly adequate for a week.
    Mrs Williams - May 2017
We had a wonderful stay at Arrlochaira bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was great for family meals, we all had a brilliant holiday.
    Mrs Wasilewski - August 2015
Very comfortable house in a great location. Nice layout of bedrooms on opposite ends of house and sitting room with tv upstairs was great. The french doors off the kitchen and lounge upstairs were great for those of us talking when others were watching tv. Had a bit of trouble getting stove going but then we didn't see the on/off swich for it on the other wall. (just not used to looking for those). Great location for sightseeing. For restaurants, loved the roast of the day at the Westlands Hotel. Victoria's and Drummonds were great too. Highly recommend the drive to Braemar, if you like the country roads. The drive through Cairngorm National Park enroute was spectaular. The train passing behind was no issue and was gone in a few seconds. Just be careful with the lock box though as you have to stand close to edge of porch. Book this property with confidence and enjoy the sights of this beautiful country.
    Mrs Prendergast - July 2015
A very spacious and well appointed house with plenty of garden space, lovely hill and forest views in every direction. We had 4 cars parked easily on the large drive. There are many forest and river walks from the doorstep. Killiecrankie visitor centre and Faskally boat house both have large maps with easy strolls up to a large circular walk. 1.5 miles north to Killiecrankie Hotel for excellent food, booking advised, Port Na Craig restaurant at Pitlochry dam is also worth a visit. McKays in Pitlochry for good pub food and music. A large Co-op and other smaller shops for all you need are 3 miles away in Pitlochry.
    Mr Stewart - July 2015
Only a short drive or (walk by the river) to Pitlochry, this property was wonderful for our party of mixed ages. The younger adults had there own separate lounge which they retreated too when wanting to get away from the older adults!! A lovely well maintained property with good facilities. Blair Atholl Castle proved a big hit especially the pony trecking centre for one of our group and the local walks were excellent. The chip shop in Pitlochy was also very good for a quick take away evening - with wine of course!
    Miss Slater - April 2015
Wonderful location. House fitted with all necessary facilities. Loved the layout of the house with bedrooms at either end of the house, 2 ensuites and other bedrooms with access to their own bathroom/toilet.
    Ms Bowman - April 2015
This was our 9th year of going and have booked for nxt year. We love the house and the area
    Mrs Turner - December 2014
great christmas holiday, good size bedrooms, good size kitchen, with lots of appliances, used upstairs lounge as more comftable, 5 adults and a 3 year old who really enjoyed house, two slight negatives, no heating on and freezing cold when we arrived, the other is the trains at back of house woke me up, very glad xmas day and boxing day when they did not run. Also the house is a great location.
    Mr Haunts - December 2014
We had a lovely week in July, the house was great - modern, spacious (there were seven of us - 6 adults and 1 toddler), and well equipped. My mother is quite elderly and has mobility problems and the house has a ramp to the front door (excellent for getting a wheelchair in from the car) and two bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs, so the house is suitable for anyone with disabilities. The location is excellent as it only took 5 minutes to drive into Pitlochry, and a five minute walk through the woods takes you down to the river. Lots of lovely walks and things to see locally - all helped by the fabulous weather that we had. My only comment would be that the house would benefit from having Wi-Fi (a must seemingly in todays modern world!!).
Owners Response: "The property did have wi-fi but as the house is rural the wi-fi was very slow and often crashed , we had several complaints so decided that it would be better to stop the service.   "
    Mrs Maitland - July 2014
stunning property, exceptionally furnished and very comfortable, with beautifull views from the front and a nice rear garden to enjoy a drink, noise from the A9 wasn't a problem although train flying past the house caught us out but soon got used to them. only real problem was lack of phone signal couldn't keep in touch with family unless we went out, not so good for us as needed to keep in contact with disabled in laws. not so good if you need to stay in contact with work while your away either.overall a fantastic venue in an area spoilt with views, good resturants, great walks, fishing or just chillin with a cuppa down at the cafe on loch fascally. We were sad to say goodbye to such a fantastic house and area. we will definately be heading back for another visit......
    Mr Mcgregor - July 2014
1 week, which was saturday til friday. The booking meant we arrived late saturday afternoon, and left early friday morning, reducing the stay even further. The house itself its very nice, and i would hope that the owners pick up on some comments to increase the pleasure of people staying there. As we were a couple of families, there were children. The garden is of average size, but on a very steep slope. not great for todlers, as you have to leap to the rescue ever two minutes to stop them falling. There is no BBQ outside, or in the shed so take your own. It would be easier for the owners to install one. Even though we were on hioliday, some of us still needed to check in with work. We couldnt do this as there is no wi-fi, or interenet . Having teens with us, this was essential. The hoover leaves a lot to be desired. Basicaly, its rubbish. Spend some money and buy a decent one please. Have the decals on the cooker renewed, as it took nearly a week to work out which was the oven, and which was the grill. Some bigger pots and pans would be nice, as cooking en mass would be a lot easier. Little things make a big difference. They are the bad points. However, the place is very nice, was clean on arrival and has a good amount of things like bedding and towels. the location of the house is perfect. A short walk into Pitlochry, or an even shorter drive. There are some really great walks local to the place, and even though it backs onto the railway line, its very quiet. If the little things were fixed, i would rent this house again, but at the moment its a second choice. It was an enjoyable stay for us.
    Mr Harrison - May 2014
This house was great for two families - nice garden at the back with wee swings and some lovely views. It is a good base for visiting a lot of lovely towns such as Dunkeld and Pitlochry and very handy for the A9. It is maintained to a high standard and the number of toilets (4!) and bathroom facilities was a real luxury. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the only minor problem was that it was very hard to get a mobile signal in the house, though it is fine outside.
    Mrs Wallace - May 2014
Just back from a great week at arrlochaira house, a really great spot for all the family, easy access to all The sights either buy car or on foot (40mins walk into Pitlochry) The house is well kitted out and well Equipped, although the cooker does take a bit of work! The beds are very comfy, and really you have Pretty much everything you need for a chill out week, a great excuse not to use phones and laptops, Yes you do occasionally pick up a train passing at the rear of the house, don't let that put you off, The house is in a great spot. And is great value for money.
    Mr Parkinson - April 2014
This property was clean, fresh, had great facilities and was in a great location. Only complaint was that we struggled to work the oven and couldn't find the instruction manual.
    Mrs Outram - October 2013
The house was everything you could ask for and had everything you needed for the stay there was 8 of us staying and there was plenty of room. There was no waiting around to use a bathroom with there being 2 rooms with en-suite and a family bathroom upstairs and a toilet downstairs. Also anybody staying at the property should check out the camp site down hte road as you are welcome to use the clubhouse and the swimming pool which are both good value for money all in all Arrlochaira was everything you could ask for and more.
    Mr Hilditch - August 2013
We had a fantastic holiday. The house was beautifully furnished and decorated and very warm once it had warmed up (it was very cold when we arrived). We had a few initial problems getting the TVs to work and we never managed to use the internet. Views from the front windows were gorgeous- autumn woods and snow topped mountains. There were lots of walks in the area which the whole family enjoyed. Lots of interesting historical sites to visit. We particularly enjoyed The Crannoch. Unfortunately most places closed for winter on 31st October so we had to pack all the siteseeing into the first half of the week. Overall the whole family (aged from 5 to 72) had a great time!
    Mr Lowes - October 2012
Super house - much bigger than we needed but it was the same price as the smaller houses. We were staying in the area for the Blair Horse Trials, and the house provided everything we needed. No problems with booking, all very straight forward! Will be using the company again for cottages in future.
    Miss Cleave - August 2012
Lovely big house, has everything in it you need for a short weekend break. Only downside is we couldn't get the Wifi to work and when we arrived the house was cold and even although we had the thermostat for the heating up full we couldn't get the house to warm up. Everything else was excellent, handy having take-away menus in the house. No mobile phone signal in the house had to go to the end of the drive before we could get a signal.
    Mrs Schofield - July 2012
This is a beautiful, very well decorated, modern house just outside Pitlochry. The rooms are all very spacious, bright and clean, with 4 double bedrooms, two of which are en-suite (at 4 or 5 star hotel class). Facilities in the house are very good, with 2 Tvs, DVDs, fully stocked kitchen, etc (I couldn't get my PC to connect, although that may just be me as there is a connection). There is a sitting room and 2 bedrooms on both floors, so would really suit a large family or 2 groups. Be aware though that downstairs sitting room is open plan to minster gallery upstairs so can be a wee bit noisy, if that is a concern for you. We went with 2 very young children, who loved the house (including the toy selection!) although you have to be cautious as no stair gate and also be aware back garden has a slope. The road walk to Pitlochry is about 30 - 40 minutes, while directly across the road there is a field that leads you to riverside walks to Pitlochry and Killiecrankie. Directly behind the back of the house is the railway line, but trains don't run too late or too early. Also, worth saying that we had a slight problem (not even worth mentioning) but that the owner dealt with it immediately and fantastically well - another sign of very good service. Finally, note that-- There are loads of things to do in the local area, even if it is tipping down all week... there aren't many taxis in Pitlochry ...
    Mr Shevlin - July 2012
A group of us (mid 30s) stayed in Arrlochaira in June and we were absolutely delighted with the property, it far exceeded our expectations. A stunning house, immaculately presented, was just perfect for friends (or family) getting together. We spend most of our time in the huge kitchen which became our hub for the weekend but the two living spaces were just as comfortable and would be great for families too. The weather was poor during our stay so we didnt get to see much of the garden but there was a swing set for children and plenty space to play. In Pitlochry we visited Victoria's and The Old Mill in for food and I would highly recommend both. We spend the evening in McKays which had great live music and a fun atmosphere. The only thing I would say is that if you want a taxi home at the end of the night best to order one early as they get booked up fast. It was our first self catering holiday so I'm not sure if this is standard but there was no washing up liquid, bin bags or cooking oil, so best to bring your own. It was a fantastic weekend for us and we would come back to Arrlochairia in a heartbeat!
    Mrs Boardman - June 2012
Lovely house in excellent location for sightseeing. House well equipped and is of interesting design. Had visit from pine marten! Slightly noisy due to trainline and proximity of A9 to rear of house but not a huge problem. Great views from front of house.
    Mrs Macleod - June 2012
clean, warm, well equipped. All beds very comfortable. Fantastic layout for privacy in each bedroom with excellent number of bathrooms. Loved the two lounges & the large dining kitchen. Good disabled access. Some grab rails or a seat in the downstairs shower would be a very useful extra. Fantastic walking, cycling, golfing. Great to be able to access many walks without needing to use the car first! Thank you
    Mrs Hardman - June 2012
Arrlochaira, is a very modern villa accomodating eight people in comfort. It is very well located, with views over the pass of Killiekrankie and only two miles from Pitlochry. We have used Arrlochaira for the last six years, and still find new and fun things to see and do in the area as the kids get older.
    Mr Stalker - May 2012
This is our second consecutive year staying at Arrlochaira and again had a lovely break in a beautiful house surrounded by wonderful walks and scenery. We were however a bit disappointed with the following; Some of the kitchen utensils were broken i.e. knife handles, potato peeler. We either couldn’t get the dishwasher to work properly or there is an issue. The dishwasher tablets were not fully dissolved at the end of cycles and most of the dishes were not clean. This meant we had to wash the dishes after every meal, however there is a lack of cleaning utensils i.e. brushes and scrubbers. We would really have benefited from better wi fi in the house especially as staying for a week. The satellite signal on the tv in the upstairs lounge wasn’t good, meaning the basic terrestrial channels not being available.
    Mrs Wood - April 2012
The house is excellent to stay in, the only problem was one of the Kitchen chairs was broken other than that we enjoyed our short break. We loved how the house was child friendly. My 3 year old loved it. Pitlochry has little shops that have lovely little trinkets to take away as gifts. If you are a thrill seeker there is bungee jumping just five miuntes away from the house. Overall we will definately be booking the house again in the not so distant future.
Owners Response: "From Cottages and Castles: The broken chair has been reported and the owner will have it replaced/repaired asap, thank you."
    Mrs Hlabangana - November 2011
Amazing place, clean, classy, modern, well equipped and close to the nature.Top place to have your holiday.
    Mr Latocha - April 2011
Thoroughly enjoyed the place, Centrally placed for adventures. The local village of Pitlochy is a wonderful Victorian Treasure. The house itself was modern, comfortable, warm and well appointed, the multiple bathrooms particularly appreciated when a large group means a full house. If I was being picky, the spiral staircase and mezzazine deck meant noise travelled, so getting young children to sleep in the evening was more difficult than it would otherwise have been. Overall very good and would not hesitate reccomending to friends or rebooking ourselves. If you go there make you you visit nearby Edradour (The Smallest Legal Distillery in Scotland), an absolute treasure from which the nectar of the gods comes.
    Mr Middleton - September 2010
Plenty of room for two families, no need to ever get under anyone's feet. Very comfortably furnished with everything you need. The only downside was the traffic noise which could be heard from the upstairs bedrooms.
    Mr Mulraney - July 2010
