One of a pair, with beautiful views over the river valley, this holiday cottage offers cosy accommodation on one level. Newly installed for 2015 is full bio-mass central heating. The interior has been upgraded with new furnishings and carpet and the sitting room has a cosy open fire with a dining table looking out on the beautiful view and small kitchen and bathroom is ideal for sleeping 4 in a large double bedroom and a twin next door.

Amidst the 4000 glorious acres of the Brahan Estate in Easter Ross, historic home of the Seaforths, chiefs of the Clan MacKenzie, these four charming properties offer a wonderful opportunity to experience Scottish country life. Today a peaceful backdrop to some of the Highlands' most beautiful scenery, through which the mature River Conon winds its graceful way, The Estate is home to roe deer, osprey, badgers, pine martens and has a Red Kite Feeding station. There are beautifully overgrown gardens to explore, lochs and ponds bristling with birdlife as well as lovely riverside and woodland footpaths and cycle tracks to follow, and river and loch fishing to enjoy whilst - at extra charge - an exciting variety of outdoor pursuits can be arranged including clay pigeon and target shooting, canoeing, abseiling ,archery and photographic safaris in the company of a knowledgeable ranger. A nine hole "reversible" golf course is on the Estate, with a plethora of courses within a 40 minute drive.

Inverness, 12 miles, capital of the Highlands offers fine shopping and entertainments and boat trips on Loch Ness and dolphin cruises on the Moray Firth. Cawdor Castle and haunting Culloden Moor are worth visiting. Explore the Black Isle, with villages full of character, local brewery, seasonal fruit farm and good walks, linger in the NTS seaside village of Cromarty famous for its ancient fossil beach with interesting shops, coffee houses and excellent hotel with a ferry crossing to Nigg. The Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer is 6miles, with Glen Affric a must for a picnic amidst the old Caledonian Pine Forest. Well marked walking tracks promise scenic walking for all grades of fitness Plodda Falls is near by.

The West Coast is an easy drive with stunning scenery and a choice of destinations from Ullapool to the Isle of Skye to discover. The market town of Dingwall is 3.5 miles with the nearest pub serving food 2 miles. The largest livestock market in the north is 2 miles with regular sales.

Next door is Balnain Farmhouse (sleeps 12) and just along the road is Dunglass Cottage (sleeps 2) and Dunglass Farmhouse (sleeps 12).

    Cottage was basic, would have been nice to have a welcome pack with a few food essentials in & a welcome letter, you need to reword your advertisement to remind bookers to provide all kitchen essentials especially cleaning materials, the property was pet friendly but wasn't fenced in so you couldn't let dogs off the lead in the garden as we where right next to a road.Dingwall was a nice town good shops especially fishmongers fruit shop & bakers. Loved the evening boat trip on loch Ness really nice area to tour around and good walks plus lovely weather

We are a self-catering cottage and as such food and materials are not provided. In the past we have found that some guests do not want to have part used products left in the cottages. We do have a welcome folder with lots of helpful information about the cottage and the local area but we will look to make this more obvious for guests on arrival in future. All our holiday homes are pet friendly but in some cases it is not practical to have each of the properties fenced in."

    No wifi should be taken off description as this was one of the reason we picked the cottage had to ask for towels as none lett and but disappointed no welcome pack apart from that lovely cottage n had lovely weekend very cosy.
    Owners Response: "RESPONSE FROM COTTAGES & CASTLES Thank you for your feedback and on checking this property does not offer WiFi and we have now amended our web site to say that this property does not supply towels ( I believe you were given towels as a kind guesture by the Manager ). Regarding the welcome pack we only have a guest information folder with all the information you could want about the Estate and locally. We are glad you enjoyed your break overall"

    I really enjoyed my stay in Maryburgh a great out of town location warm and clean. plenty of walks right on the door step. friendly local pub "cottage bar" not too far from shops .

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
