Cape Cove, situated 1 hour from Glasgow, is an architectural award winning modern self catering beach house commanding spectacular views. This unique stylish holiday home not only enjoys a fabulous waterfront location but also a thrilling interior.

Stepping into the vast open-plan living space with its seamless glass wall overlooking Loch Long is a jaw-dropping experience. Contemporary yet elegant, this is a wonderfully comfortable room to relax in and absorb the breathtaking sea and mountain views or enjoy watching the storms and weather move across the sea. The well designed kitchen is fully equipped and will delight the most enthusiastic of cooks and the large dining table creates a wonderful gathering place. The oak floors and white painted walls make the bedrooms calm and relaxing. Stairs lead down to a large, bright and airy double bedroom where doors open onto a terrace with steps down to the shoreline. Sink into the comfortable leather sofa and enjoy a good book or perhaps a favourite film. Set aside from the main house, "The Look Out" provides extra accommodation and the same spectacular views.

The outside is just as comfortable, the teak decked terrace with its huge table, fireplace and barbecue is a real highlight as is the cedar hot tub. Among the multitude of features and user-friendly technology, the house has been super insulated and enjoys the comfort of heated sandstone and slate floors, atmospheric lighting, a wood burning stove and solar powered (generating more energy than it consumes).

Being set on the shoreline, this unforgettable house also has the luxury of its own private, sheltered pebble beach and jetty. Charter a sailing boat and board it from your house, canoe or Kayak to explore the wonders of this beautiful sea loch, wander down to the local pub or fish off the pier. If you fancy a run the shore road is perfect or mountain bike the peninsula for a challenge. For a slower pace golf in Loch Lomond or simply sit and relax on the surrounding rocks and marvel at the many birds, seals and porpoise that thrive here. A marvellous family holiday destination; be aware the sea is not fenced off if there are toddlers or young children in the party they will need to be supervised.

The house has its own mooring and boat charter can be arranged locally.

Beautiful living accommodation, everyone gave it the WOW moment when they entered it.
    Mrs Martin - February 2019
The house didn't disappoint & neither did the views. I've been taking short breaks worth my gal pals now for 10 years we all agreed this is the best yet. The house was really will equipped & the views ere spectacular including seals & porpoise playing in the water 30 yards from us. Other than a wee lunch at knockderry house (which has really recommended) we didn't leave the house all weekend
    Mrs Murphy - November 2018
This is our third breakaway to this amazing house , already thinking of rebooking
    Mrs Montgomery - October 2018
My husband and I rented Cape Cove for our 50th birthdays and invited friends and family to celebrate with us. From the moment we arrived we were immediately under the spell of what can only be described as a magical and breathtaking view, ever changing depending on the weathers mood, but always beautiful and captivating. The house itself was the height of luxury. Beautifully clean, very modern, lovely comfortable bedrooms with the most amazing bed linens and everything we could possibly need for the perfect getaway. Last but certainly not least I must thank Pamela who was always available for any questions and who had left lots of goodies to welcome us. Thank you for making our stay so nice. I would highly recommend Cape Cove, a true 5 star experience!
Mrs Larval Le Bourg - March 2018
My wife and I and my sister-in-law stayed at Cape Cove for a week in early to mid January, 2018. The unique style of and view from the house was what caught our eye on the Cottages and Castles website and I have to say that the website pictures do not do the reality justice. The booking process and access to the house was very straightforward and Pamela (The housekeeper) was always available at the end of the phone for any help required. On arrival at the house I found the fridge to be stocked with an unexpected welcome pack of all sorts of treats including chocolates, biscuits, cheese, milk and red/white wine, all of which was very much appreciated. The house was cleaned to a high standard and everything you could need for a weeks stay was provided. I have read previous reviews which are critical of a couple of things and I would wish to make comment on those specific issues. First of all, any criticism of slow WiFi I found to be unfounded, and we were using a number of devices for email/web browsing and the Sonos music system which is built into the house. The only thing we did have difficulty with was accessing the Apple TV system, which we failed to do for the entire visit. I have read a number of comments about the property showing signs of wear and tear, specifically, the induction hob having a broken corner, and the glass panel in the log burning fire being cracked. These along with the kitchen furniture (drawers/cupboards) are indeed showing signs of wear and tear, and need to be attended to. Having said all of this, and in spite of these minor problems, I have given the property five stars. My reason for this is the location and the view from those wall to ceiling windows in the main living area. Personally, I would have been happy just looking at the view all week and the weather was not particularly good. If you are looking for a unique house in a beautiful location, with an outstanding view, then this is the place for you. I will definitely consider revisiting in the future.
    Mr Harper - January 2018
This was our second year at Cape Cove and yet again we were not disappointed a fantastic relaxing time we all had. This was our family Christmas altogether we all look forward to spending it at Cape Cove watching Christmas movies, toasting marshmallows on the open fire, making plenty of use of the hot tub looking out at the fabulous Scottish scenery no place like it a wonderful time had by all can’t wait till next year fab fab fab.
    Mrs Martin - December 2017
Great holiday in a fabulous house within gorgeous surroundings
    Mrs Montgomery - November 2017
This property is without question the most amazing building we have rented. It sits in a position which will make you go dewy eyed with it's improbability. You just want to keep staying in as the vista is forever changing. There was only two of us, the place would comfortably accommodate say 6 or 6 + a few children. More than that might be more interesting. The house is a few years in with renting now and is having a few bits that need attending to. That said, the agent and owner have been really very positive with the feedback offered. We came to the conclusion that despite the more minor issues the marvel of the place negated these. The hotel across the road whilst looked great does not serve drinks to non residents which is a shame, if you have a meal it's ok but we elected not to. Waitrose on the way from the airport was a great on the way shop. Certainly a wow factor holiday, one we will never forget.
    Mr Potts - September 2017
We had booked this 'cottage' (on the recommendation of our daughter who had already stayed there) as a venue for a family get-together for our Golden Wedding celebration. It was a WOW from stepping in the front door into the spacious hall and stepping down to a fantastic lounge area with its amazing views out over Loch Long. It was even better than it looked in the photographs on the website - tastefully furnished with plenty seating. The open-plan kitchen area had everything you could need and there was a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The sliding door opened (with the help of two strong men as we had been warned as it needs fixed) out on to the covered balcony area which had a large barbecue and table. The downstairs bedroom with its little en-suite, a sofa and a TV, books and games (electronic & traditional) was perfect for our teenage grandson . Wifi was a bit erratic, but that was fine by us! Everything was spotless and the caretaker/cleaner, Pamela had even left us a congratulations card, which was so thoughtful. The grandchildren had a wonderful time playing on the rocks, exploring the rock pools, catching mackerel, jumping into the loch off the jetty and then running up to the hot tub. Watching the changing weather over the loch and seeing dolphins (or porpoises ?) jumping, cormorants diving for fish, fishing boats and the Waverley passing, was fascinating. We had a lovely meal a three minute walk across the road at the Knockderry Hotel where the staff could not have been nicer and the food was delicious. Everything perfect. All in all a great week and I would certainly recommend this lovely property for a family get-together.
    Mrs Brown - August 2017
We had a lovely time at Cape Cove and would definately stay there again. There were only six of us staying all week, ages ranging from 4 to 60. We all enjoyed ourselves watching the Loch and saw porpoise and seals. Gannets diving for the fish which were jumping out of the water by the edge of the beach. The otter came out onto the jetty too, all on one beautiful evening. We enjoyed watching the activities of the Navy, and saw two small submarines. There was so much to watch from the lounge area even when it was raining. The bedrooms were fitted out well and plenty of equipement in the kitchen. The children loved the beach/sea area and we managed to sit by the hot tub even on days which were a bit damp. I don't really think there was anything we lacked there at all. Laundry room was great with family sized washing machine and tumble dryer. We did not have any internet problems and the mobile phones had reception(O2). All in all it was a relaxing holiday and well worth the cost.
    Mrs Bartlett - July 2017
We stayed at Cape Cove in mid June and had a wonderful week. The home is simply fabulous. The floor to ceiling windows provide spectacular views of Loch Long and we could even see the odd pod of dolphins swim by! If we had a suggestion for improvement, it would be to put in blinds that can be drawn along the windows as the house gets very hot when the glazing is exposed to direct sunlight, even if temperatures outside are not that high. Overall, we had a great time and can recommend Cape Cove without hesitation. Pamela, the caretaker, is extremely helpful. Knockderry Hotel is a short stroll away and they offer great food and friendly service. For the foodies, we found the best grocery store to be Waitrose in Helensburgh.
    Mr Guldimann - June 2017
Stayed here with 4 friends for my 60th birthday, as soon as you arrive you will be blown away with the view from the house it has lovely outside eating area with BBQ also other side of house has a hot tub area and a small walk down to beach. We ordered from a local Chinese and would highly recommend it. There is a hotel only about 10min walk from the house and also beautiful walk following the shore line hopefully one day will come back thouroughly recommend this house ideal from 5 up to 10 people.
    Mrs Cameron - May 2017
We had a truly indelible week. As noted in other reviews the furnishings are not brand new, a cracked hob, the odd scuff and scrape here and there but on the whole it’s an incredible house. We arrived to a few treats in the fridge, (coffee, tea, chocolates, wine, milk, shortbread & tunnocks teacakes) the house immaculate, smelling great. The location couldn’t be any more perfect, it takes a wee while to pick your jaw up from the floor once you see the view. The loch was very still in the mornings, plenty of porpoises, birds, the odd spotty seal and an Astute class nuclear submarine which pulled up opposite the living area one afternoon, turned around, sailors popped up on the surface to do whatever they did, waved at the little one and off they went back to sea! We couldn’t have gotten anymore lucky with the visual treats. #capecovesubmarine on insta for pics. The hot tub, the cabin, the bedrooms and all else are pretty much perfect as is the log burner. It’s quite a techy house, the heating took some working out, although the underfloor heating was great. Great to have the iPad with all the instructions and the binoculars were constantly used. Lots of games, books and magazines for the kids. There are a couple of wetsuits, L, M, kids size, although I found the loch a tad too cold for swimming for any length of time. The beach is great, the jagged rock face that sits below the cabin is bejeweled with painted stones which guests have daubed memories onto, all adds to the charm of this place. The location is amazingly quiet, a welcome change from London and the Scots are really friendly and welcoming. There is no pub nearby, the local Knockderry hotel (very close to the house) doesn’t serve alcoholic drinks unless you are eating which is a shame, however, the Sunday lunch and service is nothing short of amazing, highly recommended. We hit a supermarket en route to Cape Cove but soon found out the local co-op is only a 10+ minute drive away. Very easy to get to places, we had a couple of days away. The big open space and the view was a real treat for our 3 yr old and waking up to views like this was nothing short of magical. The internet connection was often frustrating, it’s either interference or the router could do with a firmware upgrade or replacement. It’s easy fixed with powering on and off the router, some days it happened quite often, almost always after using the audio system from the Sonos app. (recommend downloading that app to your device before going). I also recommend turning off the wine cooler if you want complete silence, it made a bit of a buzz. Everything is comfy, couches, mattresses in the main two bedrooms are really good (the one on the hot tub side was comfiest), bathrooms minimal and modern, great artwork on the walls, stunning design on a whole to enjoy and a view which you will never forget. We traveled Late April 2017, a couple with a 3 yr old, had guests for a few days to celebrate a birthday, a great house for sharing or indulging. We had an amazing time, hopefully, we’ll get back to experience it once again. Caps doffed to the owners for sharing.
    Mr Oyston - April 2017
Spent a wonderful girls weekend here and we were all blown away by the house. The weather was not perfect but it did not matter as the view from the house looks amazing in any light and is constantly changing. The hit of the weekend was the hot tub which also has a killer view. We all loved sitting here even in the dark, as it is well lit and lovely and warm even when it is chilly outside. We had dinner at the Knockderry Hotel one night and the food and staff were first class and just a short walk along the road. To fall asleep and wake up with the sound of the waves outside your bedroom is a special experience. The housekeeper Pamela and the handyman Malcolm were very helpful and informative, when we had questions. My only negative emotion is jealousy, that the house is not mine. Never mind you cant have everything but hopefully we can have a return trip soon.
    Ms Lewis - February 2017
We booked Cape Cove for a girls weekend/hen do escape by the sea. On arrival the views are really breathtaking and the house is beautiful, however there is some quite obvious wear and tear that we didn't except given its 5 star rating - and for the price we paid (!!). The hob was cracked (but still worked) which I assume whoever broke it was charged for so why hasn't it been fixed? The sofa in the downstairs bedroom also has a lot of wear and tear with the leather actually disintegrated (a simple throw would cover this). Also the door to the bbq area outside was broken which we would liked to have been able to open. Overall however, it's location and stunning architecture superseded any of our intitial negative impressions. The hot tub was a real highlight with the girls and the electric shower outside is great! The Sonas sound system is also excellent and we just played Spotify play lists all weekend through our laptop which we brought with us. Beds were extremely comfortable and bedding and pillows were excellent quality. Local chinese that delivers was delicious. We also went to Knockderry House Hotel (2 mins walk) for afternoon tea which was lovely. We had booked (in advance) a lovely lady called Cherry who came you house and did massages/facials on all 8 of us for a very reasonable price, here's her number: Cherry 01301 702107 Overall this is an excellent place to stay and I would return. It will get 5 stars from me once it's had a good deep clean and the previously mentioned "wear and tear" has been fixed.
Owners Response: "Thank you very much for your review. The hob was recently broken and we are currently trying to source an exact replacement . The sofa downstairs does have a throw but was getting laundered at the time of your stay. The part for the broken door has been ordered and in the meantime this door has to be kept locked for safety reasons. This house is thoroughly cleaned afer every stay. We are glad you are looking to return and overall enjoyed the Cape Cove experience - thankyou"
    Miss Shields - February 2017
We had a lovely family birthday celebration at Cape Cove in February. The hot tub and sea dipping was great, we saw dolphins and seals and our little ones were delighted. We loved the view, the warm floor, the squishy sofas, the cozy beds. We had a great Sunday lunch at Knockderry Hotel. We would have liked reading lights in the bedrooms that haven't got them please!
    Mrs Cox - February 2017
We booked this property because of the loch side location and the architecture and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed the coffee maker, a novelty for us. Other equipment however, did not function properly. Instructions seemed complete (written or video) but some things would not work even after 5 days of attempts. We were aware we could have asked the housekeeper - but it was either an inconvenient time such as at night or we planned to go out and did not want to stay in to await a visit. The movie library upstairs - initially the instructions worked but all movies froze in less than 10 minutes, We tried restarting the system, restarting the router but never managed to watch a film. We resorted to film DVDs downstairs. We couldn't get the games box to play ordinary DVDs, - gave up. There was no other optional player. The Sky box did work OK. The Sonos music system should work from the iPad at the property but it doesn't. Unfortunately we could not download an app onto our device in the property, so no Sonos. The iPod player does not charge an iPod whilst playing and so flattens the battery in the iPod. The underfloor heating only worked in the main room. In the bathrooms and bedrooms we followed the instructions exactly but each time it seemed to revert back to square one i.e. off. We suspect you have a network problem in the property. We gave up using BT routers in our business years ago. We have taken the time to write this as we own 4 star self catering properties in the Lake District and we know that managers/owners have to be kept informed of these things. We really enjoyed our stay at Cape Cove and we want to revisit in the future !
Owners Response: "Thank you very much for your review . Regarding the movie library it must have been the wifi connection at the time because on checking it worked fine and the Games box works just like a DVD player and the controller works as a remote control. Our iPad is now too old for Sonas and the docking station is really just a back up and not a charger . We advertise underfloor heating in the main living areas and bathrooms not in bedrooms. BT is the best network in the area. Both Malcolm and Pamela are available by phone (details in the house) and are happy to assist with any problems you may have encoutered during your stay. We are glad you enjoyed Cape Cove and would like to return in the future"
    Mrs Stewart - January 2017
We had a fantastic weekend at Cape Cove...I defy anyone to be disappointed. Amazing house, incredible ever-changing scenery. 5*
    Mrs Allan - January 2017
WOW!! What a fantastic house, amazing scenery! Hot tub was fabulous! Can honestly say will definitely be back. Pictures do not do it justice! Fab house in a fab location!!
    Mrs Martin - December 2016
Absolutely fantastic weekend. So good that on return home one of our party re-booked for a family event next year and our group are hoping to plan another break to cape cove.House was beautiful and very well equipped.Knockderry country house served a delicious Sunday lunch.
    Mrs Montgomery - November 2016
We had a great time 4 couples shared the house for the week , Dolphins/porpoises/seals every day. Ever changing scenery as the weather came through, wonderful Could have done with a few more saucepans , but this may of been just the way we cook? Hot tub was fantastic under the stars with a single malt whisky!! or perhaps it was just the single malt. Lighting was interesting and it took us 10 mins one night to manage to turn all the lights out in the lounge!! but made life interesting?
    Mr Everitt - October 2016
As already indicated the house is located in an excellent area and the house style provided first class viewing of the surrounding area and in particular Loch Long through extensive windows. High quality Hotel within a short walking distance provided, when needed, a venue for evening meals. More prior information on possible boat and cycle hire would have been helpful. The facilities provided by the house eg cooking equipment, bedrooms, bathrooms/showers etc were all well presented. A house worthy of a further visit as some future date.
    Mr Westall - August 2016
This has been our best holiday by far, the location idyllic, Cape Cove itself it just wonderful, the scenery breathtaking we couldn't have wished for anything more! Everything we wanted to see we saw everything we wanted to do we did and most of all the children were happy and us mums and dads relaxed. This holiday is going to take some topping.
    Mrs Heeley - July 2016
Lovely house in an amazing location. Helpful housekeeper who left the house very spick and span. On the downside one bedroom had no ventilation in the room or bathroom. We would have liked somewhere to put our clothes; in 2 bedrooms no storage Overall a great week and a really wonderful house
    Mrs Martin - July 2016
This is a stunning property with incredible views whatever the weather. We watched porpoises, seals, swans, herons, cormorants, many sorts of ducks and ships including an altercation between a naval fisheries protection ship and a fishing boat. The children had a brilliant time on the beach, throwing, skimming and collecting stones, shells and sea glass, rock climbing and searching rock pools and being cave men. We even managed to eat a BBQ outside. We ventured out twice, once on a long trip to the Nevis Range Mountain Experience and also to Sea Life and a boat trip at Balloch. The Knockderry Hotel does excellent meals and the Cafe at Kilgreggan is also good, especially for breakfast. The Co-op in Rosneath is useful. The accommodation and facilities were excellent and suitable for all ages from 68 to 6. Egg cups would be useful
    Mr Price - April 2016
Could not fault this house at all. The facilities provided catered well for our family gathering with an age range of 6yrs old to 84yrs old. The location was so captivating that we only ventured out in the car twice and that was to obtain provisions. The local chinese takeaway delivered a quality meal to the door and the butcher in the next village was as good as it gets.
    Mr Kerr - April 2016
Fabulous house with it's own adventure playground in it's doorstep. The house has everything you could possibly want and suits all age groups, big kids & small! We were there for a long weekend and would have loved to stay longer. The location of the house is great, easy to get to and the most amazing views. Loads to do in the house grounds, hot tub, beach, rock pools & the bbq area was superb. Lots to do whatever the weather. I've already passed in the house details to friends who are interested in staying there. We hope to be back!
    Ms Tierney - March 2016
Beautiful area with lots to do, weather permitting! For a relaxing few days, is perfect also. Cape Cove House has everything you need, and more..... Views exceptional. Being slightly disabled had problems with stairs to sitting room, a small handrail would have been an advantage. Can not fault house or area in any way, we had a wonderful time.... Storms and all. We would like to thank you all, and Pamela for making our stay easy and comfortable. Till the next time. Lorraine x
    Mrs Kellie - February 2016
The house is in a stunning location and the picture windows take full advantage of the environment. However once you're settled there are a few areas that could be improved upon. The instructions in the house seemed to refer to appliances that were no longer in the property. It would be helpful to update these for the items currently in the house. The lack of wardrobe space in some of the bedrooms is an issue that could easily be rectified. There could be toilet roll holders in all the bathrooms. Some of the switches gave you electric shocks when you turned them on. These issues did not detract from our enjoyment of the stay but they could easily be rectified to enhance the experience of others.
Owners Response: "Thank you for your review. On checking with our handyman none of these issues were brought to our attention during your stay. We are going to get toilet roll holders installed and look into the space that is available for hanging clothes. We have had an electrician check over the house and the issue was static. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Cape Cove and look forward to welcoming you back. Thank you again"
    Mr Latham - December 2015
Superb! Had a fantastic time. Only disappointment was that the hot tub was not working as we had chosen the house specifically for the hot tub (a lot of money to pay when one of the main 'attractions' isn't working!).
Owners Response: "Thank you for your review. Regarding the hot tub if it starts causing issues then this should be reported to the housekeeper who would try and help rectify any problem. We have now ordered a replacement tub. Thank you"
Mr Mc Crossan - December 2015
Another great visit to Cape Cove, this time to celebrate our grandsons first birthday with close family. The house is wonderful and the views even more so, it really is special. Weather was "challenging" with two storms one after an other during the week but hey it's Scotland in November so you just get on with it. Slight problem with Hot Tub which had small leak but other than having to fill it bit more often than normal it didn't really bother us and after speaking to the maintenance man we were aware that it's due for repair very soon. Another fabulous family holiday and we hope to come back again.
    Mr Taylor - November 2015
Nice and helpful caretaker. Very comfortable house albeit slightly minimalist for some! Good location with plenty to do throughout a week, boat trip on Loch Lomond, Hill House at Helensburgh, ferry trip from Kilcreggan to Dunoon via Gourock. Good eating within two minutes walk at the Knockderry Hotel
    Mr Marrian - April 2015
Our second stay in this truly magical house. Once again the weather was very kind with bright sunny days throughout. The house commands a spectaclular viewpoint and many hours were spent relaxing and staring out at the fantastic vista- with the occasional porpoise and seal thrown in for good measure. The house is vast and perfect for entertaining with friends and family, well equipped and very clean. The caretaker Pamela is fantastic and close by should you need anything throughout the stay- thanks Pamela. The private beach is great and perfect for keeping kids entertained for hours. The hot tub was used on a couple of occasions and was fantastic- especially star gazing with a glass of wine. The barbecue is huge and on a covered terrace so can be used in all weathers. Knockderry house is a stones throw from the front door and serves delicious seasonal food should you want to leave the house- which we rarely did thanks to the magnificent weather. Can't recommend this place highly enough, we are about to book our third stay! Very much looking forward
    Mr Stephen - April 2015
Fabulous house with glorious views over Loch Long. Modern and interesting design. The hot tub overlooking the loch was very relaxing. A few niggles about lights were sorted out by the housekeeper. One room has no hanging space. The house is a wonderful place to relax . We did quite a lot of walking .
    Mrs Patterson - October 2014
The whole family (11 + 2 small children) had a fantastic time at this amazing house. Sitting outside for our lunch on the big balcony on a balmy sunny and warm September day was a real bonus. We took a boat and 2 kayaks and were never off the water. The hot tub was great after the water sports we enjoyed. The little look-out was a great success as an extra bed. Really nothing to fault other than the hot tub not being cleaned properly on arrival but this was rectified on the Tuesday.
    Dr Donald - September 2014
We really like coming to Cape Cove. The house is a beautiful contemporary open planned space with great views of Loch Long. Many hours were spent in the hot tub overlooking lots of wildlife and sailing boats passing by! If you're very lucky you'll see a submarine! The kids were very happy to swim in the sea and climb rocks. It has a well appointed kitchen so we didn't eat out that much but having said that, there is The Knockderry Hotel all of a 5 minute walk away that has fab food. If you like being near the water this is a magnificent place to stay as you can spend many an hour just chillin on the decking with a glass of wine. The local villages of Cove and Kilcreggan have most things you'll need also a short ferry ride to Gourock makes Glasgow easily reached by train. All in all I think this house has something for everyone
    Mr Forrest - July 2014
The house looks amazing, the view spectacular. However the experience of staying in the house didn't quite match up. Despite calling the contact we could only get enough hot water for 3 very quick showers. The rest of us had to shower outside! There was also only one small gas canister for the BBQ so we ran out mid cooking! Another issue was noise in the house. As an open plan house I expected noise to travel but I was disappointed with the lack of a door to the downstairs room. The door was broken on another and all the doors were quite noisy to open and shut. The downstairs toilet was out of order for the duration of our stay as well. Style over substance??!! The view did make up for most of this though. We all enjoyed watching the wildlife and the private beach was prefect for launching our kayak. We enjoyed the Cafe at Kilgreggen, taking the children to the play areas at the caravan park and a visit to Loch Lomond.
    Mrs Perks - May 2014
Cape Cove is an absolutely stunning house in a beautiful setting overlooking the shores of Loch Long. It was an ideal base from which to explore the area around Rosneath and Arrocher but the house itself and of course the hot tub made it all too easy to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of it's unique setting. We were celebrating two "landmark" birthday's as well as a Ruby Wedding anniversary and having family and friends share it with us in such a special place made it all the more memorable. We managed to fit in a walk in the Arrocher area which was lovely, a trip to Helensburgh and some of the family went to Glasgow shopping but really the house is the main attraction and lazy days looking out at the wonderful scenery was as good as it gets. Can recommend the Café Bar in Kilcreggan for food. We booked a table there and took a taxi from the house and it was it was excellent. They also deliver Thurs to Sunday so if you don't fancy cooking it's worth giving it a try. Also in Kilcreggan the Lighthouse pub was a friendly place with a cosy roaring fire which is also worth a visit, try the quiz night on a Thursday if you fancy a bit of fun. All in all, a great holiday in a special place which we would hope to return to again in the future.
    Mr Taylor - November 2013
Being at Cape Cove is an indescribable experience. You can 't help but be stunned by the way outdoors comes indoors in this place. Absolutely beautifully designed. ALL the benefits of camping with none of the drawbacks! Thoroughly to be recommended.
    Mr Johnston - October 2013
The location was definitely "Five Star". The views onto Loch Long and down the Clyde estuary, were stunning. However, the facilities didn`t deserve a 5 star classification. The initial impact of the design of the house was exciting but comfort and practical details were lacking. Wardrobe/hanging space doesn`t exist in two of the main bedrooms. A lack of bedside tables and lamps was uncomfortable and the whole lighting system was just "too clever". Crockery was clearly worn and scratched, as were some of the cooking utensils. An enjoyable stay but not a five star rating.
    Mr Stevens - September 2013
We loved our stay here , the house is a somewhat unusual find for Scotland-a house right on the beach in a contemporary modern style. The full length glass extension and the vast comfortable living space was great. The bedrooms were all a good size with good ensuite facilities-gas barbecue excellent with a nice patio area and glass balcony to enjoy barbecued goodies whilst enjoying the view. You actually feel part of the spectacular watery mountain environment ( not separated from it by thick stone walls peering out a window). We went to sleep listening to waves and awoke listening to the waves. We saw lots of wildlife we didn't hunt them out they passed by us in the house not noticing us!(seals, swans, ducks, dolphins).A minor criticism would be that the small microwave is not really that great when there are more than 4/5 people in the house a larger capacity one would be better and the apple tv doesn't seem to work but we were not there to watch the tv anyway. Best holiday at home experience we have ever had due to house , location and weather!(unbelievably sunny for Scotland).
    Dr Dorward - July 2013
We stayed at Cape Cove for a week in June and it wasn't long enough, what a wonderful place to stay to chill out and relax while looking out across the water, we had a lovely time.
    Miss Hampson - June 2013
This was an amazing property which took your breath away. There was plenty of space in the house and the underfloor heating was brilliant. The view was everything and the added benefit of being right by the water's edge was excellent. This meant that being in the hot tub or in the little summer house were extra special. Kitchen was kitted out well. The caretaker was there for us when a problem arose but she sorted it out for us no problem. On a practical level, the hob would have benefited from being 4 rings not 3 and it was unfortunate that the main microwave did not work. However this did not detract from the experience and we would return.
    Mr Thatcher - April 2013
Our 5 day break was extremely relaxing. The house is in a magnificent position. It has many mod cons but the best advantage has to be its location and beach access. two fourteen year old boys found plenty to do, swing, climb, fish, brace the cold waters with the wet suits provided, they ended each day in the hot tub and were extremely happy. The house was relaxing, warm, cosy and contained all you would need. we didn't venture far however local villages provide al you need from shopping to good eating places. we did not book for the technology it offers and there is plenty, however internet is slow and music/films were difficult to use. There was no working microwave so I would just ask if you are relying on these things. The caretaker will do anything for you where she can. We found the sofas rather uncomfortable , sliding off and moving apart but the fire and view made up for it.I would certainly recommend this home for a relaxing break
    Mrs Stokoe - January 2013
The views form the house are magnificent and the housekeeper could not have been more helpful on arrival or during our stay to help resolve some niggling issues. These issues did not put a dampner on our vacation and we had a great time. As constructive criticism I would suggest simplyfing the apple tv and how to work it. I could not figure it out and this may have been due to previous renters changing something in the set up or the instructions were wrong. This should be checked that it is working and films can be accessed before each rental begins or make it more fool and tamper proof. We would definitely come back.
    Mr Medinelli - November 2012
We had a fantastic holiday as a group of family and friends ranging from age 11 through 20s and up to 60 and all were happy. The property itself was luxurious and the youngsters loved the high tech and the film library. The views are what makes this property in all weathers though actually we had mainly good weather. We took our own kayaks and this was the ideal spot to set off down the loch practically from your bedroom patio. The hot tub was super and we sat drinking champagne to celebrate my 50th birthday whilst watching a massive tanker going up the loch.I would definitely recommend this property and would love to return sometime.Activities are all outdoor related but you would have to drive distances for indoor things to do and shopping. The house is so lovely you don't want to go far.
    Mrs Morgan - August 2012
The house was the star of the holiday in terms of its appearance and the views it afforded of the loch and its wildlife. The children loved the hot tub (once it was operational after being cleand up) and jumping off the wall into the sea. The downsides were things like the rubbish bins were full, there was one small saucepan and one large one (for 10 people), there were no wooden spoons or bake wear for cakes etc, There was nowhere to hang up coats, the coffee machine did not work, a sink dripped on to your feet, the shower soaked the floor.
    Mrs Craig - August 2012
Great house! Will recommend it to all. ...and everything worked.
    Mrs Gray - June 2012
This is a great house. We had a party of 9, including a 91 year old, and 4 children under 10. The children were endlessly happy playing on the beach and in the hot tub, and swimming! My mother was endlessly happy looking at the marvellous view out of the windows that went on and on and on - and from the deck. It's comfortable, and very easy to clean and keep tidy. Constructive (I hope!) criticism : We found cooking for 9 quite a struggle at times - more saucepans of different sizes would help, as would a wooden spoon and bread board. A deeper roasting tin would help to cook a joint without spilling all over the oven - we managed not to, but the oven was filthy, and had been poorly cleaned so our first meal of 3 (!) chickens was spoilt by the flavour of oven cleaner. Instructions for the coffee maker and I think hob were on the i-pad, but not accessible. Plain English instructions for telly, and kitchen accessories on paper would be useful. We spent quite some time figuring out how to work both hob and coffee maker. Or just provide a cafetiere. There were tantalising references to wet suits for children and a canoe, but neither were there. In a house like this it would be great to have walk books, bird books, flower books etc - a luxury, but obviously not essential! However we did get the hob to work, we did buy a bird and a flower book, having tiresomely left our own at home, and we found the wonderful LInn gardens by following the signs. We had a great week, and great weather, so thank you Alastair for that! Tips for things to do: we had 2 wonderful days sailing instruction with Rob the Boat at Rosneath caravan park. He was brilliant and a great teacher with middle aged women and small children alike. Linn Gardens are wonderful, but not for the unsteady of foot (not appropriate sadly for 91 year old). Ardkinglas gardens on the other hand, on the way to Loch Fyne and Inverary are accessible to slightly disabled (enough room for supportive arm to one side), but not wheelchair friendly. Our small boy loved gawping at Faslane, and his week was made by the sight of a nuclear sub sailing past us. Hill House in Helensburgh is a nearish NT property to see.
    Mr Tennant - June 2012
What a place to stay!!!! We were 6 adults with 3 new babies and it was just the relaxing break that we all needed. Cape Cove is definitely a 5 star property and I am sure that we will all be back. Thanks!
    Mrs Sadler - May 2012
Fantastic house and location, everything was spot on. Special mention to the caretaker, exceeded what would generally be expected from our point of contact at the house. Regrets. Forgot to get a present for the caretakeron departure. Note. Might be considered a little noisy (Much drinking!), as living spaces are open plan.
    Mr Robson - April 2012
This is an amazing property! The views from the ceiling to floor windows looking our over the Rosneath Penninsula are just stunning and change constantly with the weather and the time of day. But it's not just about the vista; the house itself is a modern classic, brilliantly appointed in a contemporary monochrome style, with a huge open plan kitchen/lounge/diner and comfy beds in bright bedrooms with luxurious bathrooms you'd be happy to find in a decent hotel. Outside you have your own private beach, a hot tub & a couple of great terraces to enjoy the view in better weather. We stayed over October half term - two families of 5 and there was plenty of room for all of us to enjoy what Cape Cove and the surrounding area has to offer. No hesitation in recommending
    Mrs Catterall - October 2011
We adored the views through the glass wall of the living room, the changing light and conditions provided almost constant entertainment. A brilliant lay out and cutting edge design make this a house to appreciate and return to.
    Mr Kissack - October 2011
Great place, looked fantastic but on close inspection was a let down. Booked the house as it had outside heaters and hot tub.. both did not work. The fire collapsed during our stay preventing fires. In the end we were just staying in a fancy shell! If all had been working, it would have been a wonderful amazing place.
    Miss Ellis - September 2011
