Carron Cottage sits on the banks of the famous River Carron surrounded by mature woodlands and open fields.

This welcoming self catering holiday cottage provides guests with excellent accommodation and the sauna in the outhouse is the perfect place to relax and unwind after an action packed day of outdoor pursuits, a range of which are offered by the estate. The local golf courses and beaches are all within easy reach and subject to availability; a two-rod salmon beat can be taken with the property.

Carron cottage is a traditionally built cottage but inside it is deceptively spacious and bright with delightful views across the River Carron. A very pretty front garden is private and a real sun trap. Inside the rooms are large and fresh and clean, with a spacious eating kitchen, excellent utility/boot room and good sized bedrooms. It is a genuinely lovely cottage in a beautiful location in Sutherland and an excellent value holiday house.

The cottage is ideal for fishermen and sportsmen as there is plenty to do as well as being a fantastic place for relaxing and simply taking in the beautiful landscape and idyllic setting.

    Carron cottage is in a really great location with endless walks from your doorstep. The cottage is very comfortable with tons of room. The gardens are amazing and the river Carron is great. We sent hours just sitting in the sunroom watching the wildlife. This was our second visit to Carron cottage and we we definitely be back.

    The cottage was excellent, furnished to a high standard with plenty of space for a group of friends and the log fire and sauna made it a cosy winter break.

    Nice, clean, roomy house with excellent facilities. Sauna outhouse is superb. Small children need constant supervision in the back garden - there's a fast-flowing river at the bottom, with no fence. There is no broadband or WiFi on the house telephone. Mobile phone service is intermittent (depends on where you are in the house) and is phone and text only. No 3G or 4G data service. So no internet. Permission to site a hired hot tub in the garden was denied with no reason given, though the front garden has a graveled area that would be suitable. Keyholder appears to be the only contact Castles and Cottages have with the owner - house is part of an estate

    We really enjoyed our stay here - Location great, beautiful area, comfy and well-equipped home with considerate and convenient appliances and extras. Sauna a delight, log fire with plenty of wood, comfy beds with such super-fresh linen and packed up with traditional decor to give a cosy feeling.

    The cottage is well equipped with very spacious rooms bar the single bed which is well stated in the guide. Five of us managed fine with the one bathroom but might be tighter if full. There is a separate toilet. What really makes the cottage is the setting by the river and the garden. We didn't use the sauna but it looked good in the summer house block. I'd thoroughly recommend the cottage. Bar meal at Bridge Hotel at Bonar Bridge was very good in a friendly environment.

    One of our best Lets to date. The property was spacious and extremely clean . Good kitchen/diner. Well equipped for catering and wonderful having fresh towels in each room. The County Show at Dornoch is a good day out and the village is worth a visit.

    The cottage itself is lovely with a modern kitchen. The sauna adds an unusual extra. Unfortunately the furnishings and cutlery all seem to have be of a relatively low quality and, if improved, would make the overall experience far better.

    This is a lovely house in a beautiful tranquil setting. It is well furnished throughout in a traditional style. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and spacious. The only real negative comment relates to the quality of the double bed which was quite uncomfortable and had a real 'dip' in the middle! Apart from that we were delighted with the rest of the house. The setting so close to the river was lovely and although we did not fish, we could well understand the attraction for those that do.

    2 adults and 2 teenagers on a two week holiday. House perfect for the 4 of us, the 3 large bedrooms gave us plenty of space. Large well equipped kitchen was perfect as was the ulitity room that gave us the space for all our stuff. Sitting room, conservatory and seating outside were all well used, and was particularly nice for an extended family gathering. The sauna in the outhouse was well used after cycle rides and walks in the hills. Upstairs bath and shower room very large, boxroom that we didn't have to use very small. (in a ideal world I would reverse these and have a shower room and toilet in the boxroom and make the large bathroom into an en suite bedroom.) The house was great for us and we would certainly use again and highly recommend to others.

    Spacious and well equipped cottage with an awesome Sauna opening onto the river for a freezing plunge. We thought the food at the Royal Hotel in Tain was very good indeed in spite of the faded decor of the place. Bannerman's the health food shop in Tain organised fresh lobsters at a fraction of the price one would expect to pay South of the border. Bannerman's is a great place to stock up on fresh fish and local produce.

    The house was nice and the setting was lovely. The owners would be recommended to try and keep local information up to date. The pieces of information left, 'pony trekking' and information on the local waterways were both out of date. We left brochures fo rany future visitors in the house which woud give them view of the local area with a whats on. The sauna was a treat.

    We used Carron Cottage for a "family gathering" week. The accommodation was first class - stylish, roomy and very well appointed. The river provided a wonderful backdrop and good evening walks with a dog. A lovely fishing spot too! Quiet but well-placed for excursions, there was good back up help and welcoming estate staff. We cannot recommend Carron Cottage highly enough!

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    A:
    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    B:
    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
