Description

Built in 2016, Claddochside is designed to provide comfort and privacy. It is a warm home for family gatherings and relaxed holidays. The location on the shores of Loch Lomond is genuinely unique, giving real seclusion and privacy.

An open plan sitting room with a wood-burning stove is the heart of the house. The bright, spacious, well-equipped kitchen and breakfast room connect to the open plan living area, allowing everyone to spread out but stay in touch. The main downstairs rooms have doors opening out onto patio areas, with comfortable seating and a large Weber gas barbecue. There are clear views of Ben Lomond, Ben Arthur, Conic and other surrounding hills from every room. There is a utility room, with washing and drying machines, a downstairs WC and backdoor area that also leads into the garden.

One double and two twin bedrooms on the first floor have comfortable hotel-quality beds and cotton linen to ensure a perfect night’s sleep. The double room is en-suite with a bath and shower. On the landing there is a second bathroom with shower for the two twin rooms.

In a separate wing on the ground floor, with its own entrance door, there is a spacious and easily accessible bedroom that may be made-up as twin or super-king beds with its own large bathroom adjoining. There is a second, smaller kitchen area with breakfast bar, a private sitting room with wood-burning stove and its own area for sitting out in the evening sun. This is ideal for grandparents seeking peace or younger parents needing space, with the option to join the main part of the house at any time.

Three separate terraces catch the sun at different times of the day: perfect for eating out & barbecues in the summer, or a cup of tea as you admire the constantly changing views across the water.

A fenced walkway leads down to the shoreline and a secluded, private sandy beach. There are no other houses on the property, so it is always quiet and private. At the end of the drive, a path leads to a good walk along the shoreline and the Endrick River, suitable for well-behaved dogs.

From mid-March to November, Claddochside is available for weekly lets, from Saturday to Saturday. In the winter season, Claddochside can be split to provide separate accommodation for either 6 people (Claddochside House) or for 2 people (Claddochside Bothy) at competitive rates.

    Claddochside reviews
    Claddochside is a lovely, large house built only a couple of years ago, in a great setting close to the southern shores of Loch Lomond. The weather was very unsettled during our stay there, but the house is so roomy and warm it was always a pleasure to return to it whatever the weather threw at us. It is in a lovely secluded location, accessed via a quiet lane, yet it is only a few minutes drive away from Balloch, with an excellent well stocked Co-op store. All of this is only 20 miles from the centre of Glasgow, which made it very easy for our sons to get to by train. The house has a second wing, making it ideal for two families as well. All in all a great place for a family holiday, 5 stars without hesitation.

    Rented Claddochside for a family gathering and lived up to our expectations and more. The house is spacious and well decorated and the views over Loch Lomond and mountains beyond are truly beautiful. The owners were helpful and quick to respond to any queries we had.     We spent a week here with our son, daughter and her two teenage boys (13,16) plus two dogs. The house was well thought-through, logical, and this made it very easy to settle in quickly, find our way around the well-equipped kitchen and luckily, on the first evening, enjoy a meal outside with views towards the loch and hills beyond. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed the garden and walks down to the water where they swam (joined by the boys). The 'boot-room' entrance adjacent to the kitchen was ideal. The house was clean and comfortable with enough room for everyone to find privacy, watch TV, play games. Friendly owners were on hand for any queries. Took longer to reach Glasgow than we had anticipated. Golf course nearby was a bonus. Limited walks from the house; to go further one needs transport.

    Claddochside is a truly wonderful house: it is very spacious, beautifully furnished and decorated, and it has great views over the loch. You have direct access to the loch as well, by means of a small beach. Even though the house is in a quiet location, literally at the end of the road, you're not really far from anything and so the house makes for a great base for exploring the National Park and the area. There was a very helpful booklet with tips and information. In short, the perfect holiday home!

    We loved this house for our family retreat. Spacious, clean, very well-equipped, plenty of places to walk the dogs. Views to die for over Loch Lomond, in very close proximity to the local RSPB reserve - but watch out for the midges! Enjoyed a boat trip on the Loch on a lovely, sunny afternoon, and a visit to Loch Lomond Shores, with plenty of activities, shops and eating places.

    6 of us Mum Dad daughter son and partners spent week to celebrate number of birthdays at this amazing house. House was equipped with everything we needed one small criticism instructions how to use cooker would have been helpful never did work out how to use grill. House was furnished to highest standard spotlessly clean throughout. Think house may be rented as 2 separate properties as there is separate annex with lounge kitchen bedroom and bathroom which was lovely as everyone could if wanted have their own space. Location was beautiful also instructions from owners on directions to property were spot on. You have glorious views of the Loch able to do number of walks from house great not to always have to jump in the car. We were lucky with the weather so able to enjoy beautiful area stunning scenery have no hesitation in recommending this 1st class property.

    We regularly stay in houses and cottages across Scotland and I have to say that Claddochside is certainly one of the best we have stayed in. The property is finished to a very high standard and has all the mod cons you would expect. We stayed in Feb when we had a few cold and snowy days and the property was always very cosy and welcoming to come home to. We really enjoyed the surrounding area, lots of nice walks and stunning views straight from the door. We even toasted marshmallows on the shores of Loch Lomond in horizontal snow (the things we do to keep the kids happy) The owners stay close by and we met them a couple of times over the course of our stay, we found them to be very helpful, pleasant and nothing was too much bother for them. Only minor point that I would add is that between an IT Consultant and a Production Engineer we struggled to understand how to work the oven properly, which was a source of much hilarity to our wives!!! Maybe a set of instructions would help future husbands from getting laughed at from their wives.

    This house is just amazing we stayed with relatives from Australia and we couldn’t get enough of the views . Because of the self contained area we could keep our dogs separate and they just loved the log burners and underfloor heating , lots of lovely walks and also afternoon tea and Carvery. Strongly recommend at The House Of Darach ... my only negative is water not warm enough for a huge bath but the shower makes up for that we will be back .

    Nice, comfortable house in a very peaceful spot. Lovely views across to Ben Lomond and Conic Hill. Weather wasn't so great but then that is where the real log fire comes in handy! Good walk from the house along the shore front to Net Bay (about 45mins to cover both ways). Also the walk up to the village is pleasant and a nice length, although a bit muddy through the edge of some fields - bring your wellies! Nice coffee shop in The Darrach for halfway refreshments. Places worthwhile visiting are Luss and Balloch Country Park. Maybe even a train trip to Glasgow as it's only 40mins away.

    Claddochside is not far from Glasgow, but by the time you get to the house, you are in a different world. The view from the house is very beautiful. You look down over a field and through a row of trees onto Loch Lomond. But what took my breath away, was the view of the hills surrounding the lake. On the evening we arrived, I realised that if we did nothing else but sit and look at the view, that already would be a good base for a holiday. The house is new, spacious and very comfortable. The owners have put a great deal of thought into making it into a home from home. From the paintings on the walls, to way the kitchen was kitted out. We had quite bad weather during our holiday, but the house was big enough for us all to have the space and the views to not feel cooped up inside. There is a path running down from the garden to Loch Lomond. We swam in the lake and used our canoe to paddle out to the nearest tiny island, which had an osprey nest. The house is right next door to a RSPB bird sanctuary, but we saw more birds and wildlife from the back garden itself. You can sit quietly in the garden and watch birds of prey swoop across the field, or house martins chase after insects. We came back to the house one evening to find a deer in the back garden, and another evening, to a magnificent red fox in the field. Claddochside is a rather special place to stay.

    Our stay at Claddochside was perfectly wonderful! All the rooms are of a good size, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms spacious and modern. The communal area easily hold 8-10 people for entertainment, and the kitchens are large enough for a few people to cook together. The setting of Claddochside is fantastic: it is quiet, has great views, and Loch Lomond is only a few minutes’ walk away. The garden is large, and the veranda big enough for a barbecue with 8 guests. Everything was of high quality, and the owners were extremely friendly. The only minor niggles were a) that the house had to be vacated at 10 am on check-out day, which can cause a bit of a rush in the morning, especially with young children, b) that there are no large mirrors in all the bedrooms, and c) that there are swallows nesting on the outside of the house, which is lovely, but they do create a lot of mess just outside one of the doors to the garden, rendering that door a bit of a hazard. But all in all we were extremely happy with the house, and we look forward to our next stay there!

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    A:
    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    B:
    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
