Set atop the hillside with fabulous sea views across the Sound of Sleat, Cnoc An Theine (meaning ‘hill of fire’ in Gaelic) is a purpose built holiday home that is ideal for families and small groups. The cottage is bright and spacious throughout, with views of the sea from most of the rooms. Some of the best sunrises are seen from this end of the Isle of Skye, so early risers can enjoy admiring the ‘fire in the sky’ for themselves. The sitting/dining area is truly the hub of the house, where you are sure to spend most of your time. The kitchen, although slightly small in size, is fully equipped and of ample size for cooking up a storm for the family. Each of the bedrooms have been tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. The true ‘jewel in the crown’ though, is the decked area at the front of the cottage – you could spend hours here in the warm summer evenings enjoying the spectacular views across to Morar, the Ardnamurchan peninsula and the Small Isles of Eigg, Rum, Muck and Canna. What a delight!

Cnoc An Theine is also accessibility friendly, in that there is a ramp entrance in to the property and there is a walk-in shower room on the ground floor. A bedroom is also situated on the ground floor, with all of the electrical switches and doors throughout at a suitable height for wheelchair users.

This is a fantastic base from which to explore the Isle of Skye and the surrounding area. Situated just 30 minutes from the Skye Bridge, day trips further afield to Applecross and Gairloch are possible. If you would prefer to stay on the island though, there are lots to see and do; from the Fairy Glen and Old Man of Storr in the north, to Dunvegan Castle and the Fairy Pools in the west, you won’t be short of places to visit during your holiday on this magical island.

    Cnoc An Theine reviews
Cnoc An Theine is a fantastic well-equipped cottage in the most stunning location. The decked area with table and chairs is fantastic for spending hours just relaxing and looking out over the water. It's also secure so the dogs could be out there with us without their leads. Mags popped up to check all was OK which was very thoughtful. Only a few miles from Armadale so we took the ferry over from Mallaig. There's a well stocked local shop in Armadale and a large co-op slightly further afield in Broadford with very reasonably priced fuel. The Inn at Ardvasar is also just a few miles up the road and recommended for a quick drink on the way home or an evening meal. We'd have stayed here a second week if the cottage had been available!

We stayed for 1 week in May. The cottage is very peacefully , homely , kitchen has everything you may need and the view is beautiful! Couldn’t have wished for more. We had a fabulous week here with our doggies.
